Afternoon all I'm currently preparing for the deployment of a Microsoft based VDI (Server 2012) but need to understand the licensing better. I have the licensing mode set to per-user, but do I need a CAL for each concurrent connection or is it based on a 1:1 for student/staff numbers? We're on OVS-ES and understand the need to purchase CAL's but I want to understand how many of them we need Cheers Steve

Just throwing my 2p in, picked up an Acer Revo thing for £50, it has a Celeron and 2GB of RAM. And Windows 10 runs just fine on it, obviously it slows down if you hammer it but for general usage it's fine!

Sounds a little odd, do you have a Mac you could try using Safari on? Other than that, sounds like a bug in the site...

Afternoon all Has anybody integrated MDT with SCCM? I've been working on SCCM doing O/S deployment, and it's working quite well with our current GM image - however, I am wondering whether it would be worth integrating with our existing MDT server? Suggestions welcome, don't want to waste time with something that may not be beneficial. I intend to do full ZTI deployment with SCCM and have no need for user input at image time. Steve

Had a look on eBay but the supply of them appears to be drying up. Got our last load off of Amazon, but they don't seem to have many options (or stock) these days. However pricing on SmartCardStore appears to be pretty solid. I've been quoted £1/card by another supplier... hmm! Also need a way to pay on invoice to keep accounts happy...

It did answer some questions but I feel there is still quite a bit of unrest around how Microsoft envisage this working For example if we decided to cloudify everything but core on site services such as DHCP, WDS and such like, we would still need to pay some kind of licensing agreement for the licenses on site (and to use license mobility to Azure) and then Azure compute costs on top of this for something we currently do on site? I dunno...

Must be poor airflow then, I've built 4 machines with Ivy Bridge i7's in with stock coolers and idle temps have always been around 35-39c and load around 50-60c and they never seem to make much noise either! Just rebuilt 2 machines with 6th gen i5's and even lower temps on stock cooler. If I were you, make sure the case has good airflow and leave the stock cooler alone unless you can see a reason to upgrade it

Do you have noise concerns with the stock cooler? It does a good enough job but can be a tiny bit noisy on occasion

What are you trying to achieve? DirectAccess if you are a Windows shop on Win 8+ is the best option for those with decent internet connections. Other than this, you'll probably need to spend to get a decent remote access solution (be it a session host Microsoft VDI, a Remote Desktop Gateway or Citrix, or some other portal solution to allow remoting to physical Windows PC's)

Once the final readings have been given to them they will settle the account and then either credit you account for what they owe or debit you for whatever you may owe. Just make sure you take the final readings!

Simple enough to do all you need to do is sign up to the new supplier and they will handle the rest for you. Expect the process to take a minimum of 4 weeks, probably around 6 weeks. They are never in any hurry to do these things! Providing there's no outstanding debts it should be quick (for these guys) and painless

Depends. I usually go full caveman wherever possible (much to the disdain of the other half) but if it becomes utterly ridiculous and it looks as if there has been some kind of burger bomb dropped on where I am sitting by the time I am two mouthfuls in I will give in and chop it in half with a knife and fork BUT NEVER ANY FURTHER *pounds chest*

Hi mate Check your APNS certificates, they may have expired. This sounds like the kind of crap that happens when they expire. Also, check that the client you're trying to push apps to can reach the APNS servers through your firewall
