Steve - I pulled them out of the temp folder (I think, it was a while back I extracted them)... no cab files indeed! ] jb - yeah, although in the batch file I have the support msi runs after the Quicktime, maybe it should run before? Dave - much more advanced than what I have got but the batch file is doing things in the same order? Have you installed the app support seperately to Quicktime in that package? Cheers

Morning all We have a few bits of crapware which require QuickTime to function correctly, I've got the 7.7.5 msi's and a nice batch file but it's not having it. Quicktime.msi moans that the Quicktime.cab is corrupt - install the files seperately, and you're fine! But do it from this batch and it won't have it. If any of you have managed it, how do you get this awful software to install silently either through SCCM or GPO? Cheers

Solus3's current UI really isn't great, we all know that, but the underlying functionality works a lot better at the moment than it ever did. We've not had problems with it since we moved it to it's own box and started from scratch. Early releases really were terrible. And as for the UI we know it's been redesigned in 3.7, and we'll see what that is going to entail soon enough!

Has anybody applied this and found show stopping problems yet? We're gonna apply it this evening...

I do have Avahi working quite well but I need to tweak it, we have a Mac which for some reason likes to sleep/wake/sleep/wake on occasion, and as part of the O/S when it sends bonjour packets on wakeup and then sees itself being reflected by avahi, and then changes its name. I'm sure there's a setting to change but just not done it yet

Make sure the links to the core from the switches in question aren't saturated... could cause it. Have you deployed any network intensive applications recently (eg video editing)?

Can you ping it from other machines outside of the 192.168.0.0 network? Are you getting timeouts or unreachables?

Thing is though, even if you did have to divulge information through FOI, you would certainly never deal with a company like this thanks to this kind of ridiculous tactic! They're obviously not the brains of the operation...

Set it up in the loft where she won't find it =P They are excellent old pieces of kit, unfortunately we had to retire our 3 in the summer after 5 years as we out-grew them. Not one failure in those 5 years, on any part! So anybody looking to buy one they do come recommended

Smoothwall here - works very well. Have pfsense configured on a box to run in a failure situation, excellent piece of software.

Kind of rules Veeam out then... it's an odd issue, touch wood it's not shown up again recently so might have been fixed in a hotfix?

We've had this two or three times since moving our FS services to 2012 - server slowly stops responding to file requests, and then stops entirely - at which point the phones light up! Responds to pings fine, remote desktop is alive and everything seems fine, but file services are down! Reboot fixes it. Once I put this down to Veeam, as another technician hadn't ended a restore job for 2 days, and then somebody tried to do another one. At this point the server shart itself. Any of you running Veeam?

Does OWA work internally? What are you getting when you try to hit OWA from externally? Sounds like something is screwed with SSL somewhere along the line, Exchange can be a PITA if SSL configuration gets borken.

Just a stab in the dark, is https enabled on the site in IIS and the correct ports binded for https? Certificates OK? Anything else in event logs from kerberos or domain authentication messages? DNS ok? Any clues on the DC?

Evening all, A quick question, I am aware that XB360's do not play nicely when sharing an internet connection, do any of you on here operate a boarding house environment or a university? If you do, how do you (if possible) allow the students to have them in their rooms and all be able to play online/use the xbl services? Cheers

Morning all I suspect this is going to be a simple one, has anybody installed SCCM 2012 on Server 2012, and then tried to add the SUP role with WSUS 4.0 (included with Server 2012)? When I try to add the SUP role it fails because it can't find xyz, and there's not a lot of information out there about SCCM2012/WSUS4 so hoping somebody here might have some pointers on how they managed to do it? As Edu-IT said make sure you won't be breaching any terms of support under your SLA's, however the process of installing Windows Server/SQL Express and migrating SIMS isn't the hardest in the world, it is only complicated by things like Discover, inTouch and Capita's sporadic support for new operating systems/SQL servers across their range of software so tread carefully and read lots of documentation.

Mornin, We split Solus off the SIMS server during the Summer, we did plan to completely rebuild the SIMS server but it never quite happened. However, moving Solus off onto it's own VM was a brilliant move as deployments are now much more reliable and it takes a lot of load off of the SIMS box. It's not the hardest thing to do with the new release of Solus 3.6.92, follow the guide and you should be OK. There's a couple of bits where it isn't clear how to proceed, so make sure to ask the service desk if you get stuck/confused to save extra headaches! It probably won't be worth splitting the docstorage out from the server, file serving won't hurt the CPU too much. I'm sure I could be wrong though, so I am yet to be corrected. Good luck!
