Seems to be slow on/off, reporting is deffo a bit slower than usual. I'm guessing it's where their systems are scaling back up now demand is back to peak?

Oh man. She is our SLT lead for it, I might give Bromcom a call in a bit because it's now got to be a decision between trying to wrangle this in to NT6 or do it in wT now. This wasn't on our radar when we booked our migration or we'd have mitigated the risks already

Option 2 seems like the best fit for us too but reading between the lines here it seems like that model in NT6 is going to need work to split it in to three from the current two? Thanks John this is what we're trying to get our head around, I think if we were on wT it may be easier? But we're trying to do this from NT6 (at the moment) We need some solid guidance here on what to do... I'm hoping our timetabler isn't going to get a heart attack...

Morning all We've put a ticket in with Bromcom but if anybody here has some advice for us it would be appreciated, we have not long come across to Bromcom from SIMS (start of June) and we've got an unexpected change that we need to implement - we're going from a fairly standard timetable to one that is split between KS3/KS4. Now I'm sure this is the case for a few schools... our timetable has been completed in NT6 (we're licensed until towards the end of the year, and it's what our timetabler knows at this point) but what type of period structure would we need to do, to accommodate it? Nova support advised us to do split periods/lunches, which we've done, but they overlap so I don't know how this can be put in to Bromcom?! Like I say we have a ticket open too but you can't beat community knowledge Thanks! Couple of screenshots attached..

The other schools in my trust are getting stuffed around by this, I am so glad we moved across to Bromcom at the start of June. Can anybody advise on the steps to disable the redirections? I can't find the place for the other schools!

Ahhh we're M365 or I would do this, I don't think we have scripting like that available in M365 for this type of use case.

Morning all Those on Bromcom, what are you doing for outbound email? The SMTP free limit is probably plentiful for a smaller primary school but we could blow through that with a few whole school emails. Are you paying the Bromcom rates or have you gone for another service like Amazon SES or Sendgrid etc? Just finding out what people are doing so I know the best route to look in to. Cheers

I sourced mine directly from Unifi - at the moment I've not managed to trigger the test one in the office with vaping (I tried - I hate it - I will need to get somebody else to test it) We did spray some body spray in the area of it though, no vape alarm but the other readings went waaaay high to show how crap it makes the air

Got 3 of them on site for testing... will report back how we find them

How are you finding it in general compared to NT6? I've never done timetabling before, it completely baffles me and whenever I have opened NT6 in the past it's scared the bejesus out of me and I ran away from it. Our timetabler has been working on next years TT in NT6 (we migrated to Bromcom this week) and that is the next thing to be worrying about now we're live. In fairness, everything else has gone REALLY well! I'm trying to expand my knowledge to be able to help her the best I can, and your feedback could be useful here for me!

If you could share more deets on this mate it would be good, not only in case of any Bromcom nonsense, but in general if all else fails we have up to date essentials without people needing to think about it. This happens every day for us but it's a manual job at the moment (SIMS) so if we could automate the sending and printing of these reports that would be super cool

Be interested in seeing what others say as we're doing the same now but all I will make sure to have is a report of all staff/students with their UPN/SIMS ID so I can always match them up after the fact if anything goes wrong. You'll need to know what custom reports, if any, are being used so they can be recreated in Bromcom.

Yes mate will be sharing it on Github later, not at work this week so just need to find a few minutes to remote on, grab the files and make the documentation make sense 😁

Hi all Got an application for this, made it myself with a fair bit of help from Claude. Will upload the source to Github for all to use. Just need to confirm if you can dump the compiled .exe into the SIMS.net folder so it can use the SIMS .dll files or if you'd need to do some additional setup steps. I've used it to export *all* linked documents for every student ever on roll with no drama. Cheers

You'll need to export them as others have said. I am currently making a tool to do it based on what is published for the SIMS7 APIs I'll be testing it next week, and if it works OK then I'll be happy to share. Warning though I'm not a pro developer and I am using AI to help.

Anybody else having issues with the Netsupport Support site / support email today? Support site is broken and nobody is replying on support which is highly unusual for them...

Some of our harder worked 5420s are showing paint chipping and a lot of wear but most of them are holding up OK. Bought them new in 2022, and just bought some recon ones too. Also rocking 5410 recons, 5430/5440 new and no issues They are for staff mind, students have 3000 series

I will report back! It's about £26 a license per machine so it's good financial sense and those little Dell's really do well on it too. For the vast majority of what the kids are doing (so much is web based now) it does work so well. Might be punting some desktops over in the inclusion unit but we'll see on that. Depends on Netsupport first!

We're actively pondering Unifi for one of the primaries we have who are currently on some antiquated, unsupported and possibly unusable access control system that also are in need of a new solution for their gate. CCTV is also up for refresh, so we're going to use the incoming Unifi Enterprise NVR at my site as a yard stick for that (looking very positive) and then see about how access control works with it too as their NVRs do doors and CCTV. We're going to re-use the hik cameras but begin phased replacement of the older ones with Unifi ones to get max benefit.

We've got our Google tenant linked to Azure for IdP and SSO so this all flows really well for us, Google have done a lot of work with integrating into the Microsoft ecosystem down to even OneDrive storage being the default when logged in, and the M365 app does everything else we need. Ran a pilot here with a few devices, got very good feedback so we've converted one trolley of Latitude 3110 laptops (the ones that actually came in Chrome flavour) over and they're going really well! I'd recommend this for schools who have a lot of web heavy content or where their students are used to cloud first or working in online publishing apps. Netsupport have come back to me so I'll do some setting up next week.

Morning all This will likely be a daft question but my searches so far aren't being very fruitful. We're a Windows shop first and foremost, but I am getting some stuff moved over to ChromeOS Flex (some of the older DfE spec laptops) Two questions; How are you doing remote support on these? Usually we'd use Netsupport or Datto to achieve this How are you doing classroom monitoring? We have Netsupport School & DNA but you can't really see what the kids are doing I'd put a ticket in to Netsupport for a bit of guidance but it seems their support site is down this morning. Cheers

Sorry to drag this up, those lumbered with SIMS and running Sophos Intercept in conjunction with Sophos Central - what settings have worked for you? I'm still having a lot of issues with SIMSApplicationSetup.exe hanging open on these machines. SIMS is making me greyer.
