This has been a bugbear for me the past day... works fine using the .msi we have from 2008, however on some machines the customisable photo zoom options would not work. Rebuilt the machine and it's fine but something to look out for. If anybody needs the msi drop me a pm and I will link it to you. We're running 7 Enterprise x64

Saw the advert and saw it as a genius yet flawed piece of advertising, as somebody has said they are pitching it straight against Apple which will appeal to some but could also be a big downfall for them. Personally I have an iPad but I'm not a huge fanboy over it, I have my Desire HD because I also love Android - and I can't think of the last time I actually went on a website that I give a toss about which needs flash, as such this advert would hold no relevance to me and quite probably most of the consumer market who might be interested in such a product (unless you are one of us, who knows what Flash is) who would probably not even know what flash is. Not only that but I hate Flash, Adobe and anything involving the two, and find them to be a half baked and insecure technology which has an ever louder death rattle with each security update. I hate Adobe.

+1 on this Two of our students have worked out booting into safe mode will circumvent parts of network security. I'm finding dribs and drabs of stuff but need something to run on every machine in the school to disable safe mode - anybody done it?

Hi guys Not sure if this has been asked already but a lot of old stuff for Windows XP shows up when I search - is there a good guide for setting up OS Deployment with SCCM? I'm interested in trying to get SCCM to do our deployments instead of MDT+WDS but would like recommendations of a good tutorial to guide me through it, we are using Windows 7 for the clients. Cheers!

We're in the same boat. We have been persevering with GP printer deployment since September but my patience has run out now, Excel rarely works with it, our Finance Department's Accounting package doesn't like it, Outlook hates it, there are all kinds of issues surrounding it. Quite often it happens to the students too. I have reverted one office + it's staff back to using a login script (which any of you can have if you want, we found it here, does printers, network drives etc) and it seems to have resolved issues in that room. I'm also pretty certain that it has been bogging down our login times quite significantly... not to mention I've never liked it! Does anybody have issue with setting a local printer as well when you have deployed printers using GP? If a member of staff attempts to set a printer as default (even a locally connected one), Windows says that the printer could not be set as default and to see if it is connected?! Long and short, group policy sucks for printers.

I thought that was the case, wanted to find out though, thank you. At least I'm not being a noob with it. We're imaging up a bunch of new laptops at the moment and we have them go into a holding OU so that they pick up policies etc, then we can move them out to wherever they need to be. Thanks Morgan

Got it. Was the username, had no \ in it. Working a treat now! Does your installation put machines into different OU's depending on what group the host is in? One niggly thing about FOG is that when you do the host registration you can't pick what group it goes into so it doesn't pick up the AD settings straight away.

Yup and Yup! The account we are using, we use with deployment from MDT to join machines to the domain.

I think it is now down to me being a tool. How can I attempt to register the machine to the domain using FOG, manually? I think it is user/pass now but I cannot be sure, a quick Google turns error code 1326 up as a username/password fail. Magic quotes are off. Windows 7 based client. Cheers

Hi guys, We are experimenting with FOG at the moment, alongside our WDS+MDT installation to try and speed up things such as laptops. FOG is working fine(ish) and is chugging along quite happily pulling/pushing images and renaming machines. However, it is not joining them to the domain? I have seen references to netdom which to my knowledge is not in Win7 any more - so at present is FOG capable of this, and if so, where am I going wrong with it? Cheers people!

Winston is quite happy being left on his own during the day, I only work 10 minutes from home so I walk home at lunchtime, feed him and give him a walk and then settle him and go back to work. He does start to get bored/barky in the afternoons some days but apart from that he is sound!

All of our bulbs that have popped in our Epson projectors (3 so far) are all way under their lamp hours... so Epson just sent new ones out to us. Their lamps contain all of the shards of glass so providing you remove it properly there is no cleaning out to be done! Definately check bulb life!

One of my colleagues has one of these contraptions - he just went and bought his own in the end. I have a DLink which isn't too bad but after a random period of time the web interface becomes unresponsive... fun

The second option mate, legacy rubbish which staff use and print to PDF's with. If it wasn't for that, it would be gone.

Hi all, I am going to contribute to the mess of Windows 7 x64 and Printers! If I had my own way, I would abolish printing and burn every printer in the damned place, it is a complete pain in the backside at times, a waste of money, time, paper, resources. END IT NOW. Unfortunately I am not king of the world so I need to get this fixed. Background:- Windows 7 x64 Clients, Office 2010, Server 2003R2 SP2. x86 and x64 drivers are the same versions, HP UPD. CutePDF installed on client systems for PDF creation. Now for the issue. One of our bigger issues at the moment is when people attempt to print in Excel, Excel decides that is is a Nazi party member and you are only allowed to print to CutePDF. If you try to select another printer, it goes back to CutePDF. This is all it will do and we have *no* idea why. All of the other Office products are OK along with other applications on the system. So, does anybody have the same problem, something similar, or know how to fix it?! Thanks in advance guys Steve

+1 A lot of the motorways turn into skating rinks after long dry spells and then having a lump of rain Other places are also major bus routes, bus stations and wherever a lot of HGVs are! At least you are in one piece though
