Can you not issue a rollback ? not sure if this is an option on Cisco but on our Juniper Routers/Firewalls you can issue a rollback command, you can time it to so it will roll back for like 30 minutes and then commit it if it works. Which Cisco Firewall is this ?

Hi all, I'm just weighing up a few options at the moment as it's the time when my VMWare subscriptions come to the point of renewal. Having never even used / tested/ or really looked at Hyper-V whats the benefit of using that over VMWare ? In my understanding Hyper-V runs on Windows (2008 & 2012?) so what if your server becomes compromised ? Is this a risk where all my Virtual Machines could be at risk too ? By that I mean if the OS goes down does Hyper-V go with it ? HOw easy is it to cluster Hyper-V servers and restore VM's in case of failure ? I do have a couple of Xen / KVM / oVirt servers BUT I don't run them on my production network. At the moment I have one server running ESXI 4.1 and one running ESXI 5.5. What is your opinions ? Hi all, at present I have no off-site backup solution, I need to find a good one but what I want to do is mirror my internal backup server. What I want to be able to do its pull the previous years data off my backup server stick it on some secure storage offsite and then once my internal server does a Full Backup (every Friday) that server then replicates it's data offsite. Anyone know of anywhere on-line that will do this kind of thing ? going to need 2-3TB of storage. Needs to be secure also / encrypted. Thanks In Advance all.

I have seen it all hosted in house, students can access it form anywhere they like if you host it yourself you also have full control.

Make use of VMWare Converter it's a free tool. You can convert any powered on machine to a VMware ESXI Host (Converter classes it as a Physical Machine).

What about finding some external co-location and building your own cloud using something like ... ownCloud.org | Your Cloud, Your Data, Your Way! That way you control the data but dont have to worry about the hardware and its offsite too in case of any catastrophic failure. You can get clients for owncloud for Android too. I believe also some of the plugins work with Google Apps and you can use basic plugins that let you edit documents on-line. Personally I'd use it for a dats tore only. I suppose really this defeats the point.

I know in CentOS I have a domain joined samba server which basically is a file server but It's using AD auth for authentication, I used the command 'kinit' and net join -U administrator and used ntpdate server1.example.com and it joined to the domain with no issues. Using command getent passwd I can see all my users and groups. I think this way might work as your DG machine would then be joined to the domain from there you'd be able to configure DG to use internal authentication and use your AD credentials. Don't quote me on it though.

How are you trying to run the app... is it in Windows or Linux ?

Linux system use testdisk to find the partitions and photorec to recover the files... works every time!!

Depending on what connections I Have available on the server I also use old servers for wiping drives or fixing drives, or even use it for BackTrack. I have used old servers for training in the past also.

Same way as I'm doing it as have no SAN.

Try enabling access to ssl and safe ports. Change the default deny for allow like this : http_access allow !Safe_ports http_access allow CONNECT !SSL_ports. Maybe this works for you! Be aware enabling this 'cause your granting access to other related ports in you acl list. So be sure to have a good firewall already configure in your network.

Have you set the correct range on the VLAN and are you trunking the VLANS properly if so it will work. if your trunking the Guest VLAN and its on the correct IP Range then it should be able to talk toy our Firewall.

Not sure AWS can be used to store any sensitive corporate data, as it's not UK Based ? It falls under European ? or to something of that ilk anyway.

we use old servers for samba shares or pfsense servers for learning. What ever really. We do have a few 2600's kicking about for anyone wanting to learn how to build web servers etc on Linux (namely CentOS).

Make sure you own the kit first, dig out Invoices and PO's if you have to. Just to be on the safe side!!
