Has it made a difference ? You only need to change it on the port where your fiber is connected... Ethernet doesn't support any MTU size over 1500. It may not help. Im sure some Smoothwall experts on here would advise you.

@sippo - only change the MTU size on the interface of your fiber.

The maximum packet size that can be passed onwards to other devices, We had a problem with a 100 Meg DIA, turned out it was flow control and MTU size, altered the MTU size to higher and got whopping speeds.

Just drill through the wall and do it that way, with a long enough drill bit. I have installed aerials many many times. Drop your fly lead from your aerial down to where ever you want it and drill through. Tidy it up by clipping it, I usually use drill clips, then push the cable through the wall and connect up. Why do you need conduit for COAX ?

MTU Size, by default I think its 1518 - change it to 2000 and see if that helps.

I had the thought that powerline adapters would not like going through my Consumer Unit, didnt think adapters would work in the loft but they do as I've tested using my On Networks adapters. Bonus I might buy a cheapie off of ebay and see if it works! Thanks all.

OK buying a third is cheaper than buying another set of 2, I'm using ZyXel at the moment and am looking at a newer model of the ones I Have but only one instead of two. Hope it works. Both sets upto 200 Meg.

Hi all, I have two homeplug adapters being used in my house, work brilliantly. However I want to add a third in my loft as its a loft conversion and would like to move my lab into that room. Can I add just any third Adapter or will I have to buy another set of 2 of the same ? Thanks in Advance!

What is FSRM ? And how can I Install and set it up ? Currently I have quotas set up on staff, 2GB per user. (This is done under quote management on Server 2008) Im not entirely sure what happens on Server 2008 Quota tool, but once a user hits 2GB it doesn't stop them saving anything in the home drive of the user. They can Just carry on using as much space as they like (although thats how it seems)

Why not just migrate to 2013 anyway rather than going to 2010 then 2013 ? I have a client at the moment who is running Exchange 03, we are going to upgrade him straight to 2013 on a new server and import all the mail to his new server.

We always sold PC's in bulk rather than individually. Hard Drives were removed. If they wanted a Hard they would have to pay extra and they would be wiped according to UK CESG Standards (Which they would be anyway). All PC's were PAT tested and tested until a certain date. Invoices issued with VAT upon purchase. IF a person wanted Windows then we would charge a bit extra for that, aslong as they had a legal license to use with it, if not they could purchase one through us. OR we could use the license attached to the sticker on the machine. Machines would be advertised on Internal Portal, Students and Staff would see the adverts. IF we got no takers then we would send them back to were we bought them from and would usually get something back for them but again we would send them back with no hard drives. The odd time we kept a few older PC's for lab / testing purposes.

Hi all, I have a client who is running 2003 SBS, with Exchange 2003. I'm trying to talk him into upgrading to 2008 R2 as he's running Windows 7 machines now anyway and he is using 2003 as his network firewall which isnt the best really considering the type of company it is. What I want to know is, When did support finish for the entire 2003 range ? Including Exchange ? What would happen if his server was to be rebuilt now on 2003... would it still activate ? TIA.
