I'm building a brand new Exchange Server on 2013, I have to take down and remove my old 2010 Exchange server. Is there a way to export / migrate the database from 2010 to 2013 ? Is it going to be possible for me to make it so that the users will still have all the emails / settings etc when connected to the new Exchange server ? Would an upgrade work straight from the Server 2012 ISO ? TIA.

Have you got a switch loop and the interface which goes to your internet is dropping off because the port is detecting a loop ? What switches have you got ?

Well I wasnt going to use the free version because I thought it wouldnt support all of our CPU's, we have 2CPU's in the main system and they are both Quads. 24GB RAM so looks like I MIGHT be able to use the free version. Could someone confirm ?

We no longer have any support, that ran out about 6 months ago. Problem is - Because the need to upgrade has suddenly been urged upon us... I hadnt bothered checking whether ESXI 4 would run 2012, My bad.

Hi all, I have VMware ESXI 4 running on my main server, however I need to upgrade to Server 2012 which wont run on version 4 thus leaving me no option but to upgrade ESXI to version 5. My license for VMWare is listed as "Vmware vSphere 4 Standard". Can I use this key to upgrade to version 5 with ? I have kinda tested it an put 5 on a test machine and when I entered my key it told me that it would change to "Unlicensed", so this means it wont work ? Sick of waiting for VMware to get back to me! *PS I cant use VMware ESXI free as the hardware is above the requirements.* Thanks in advance everyone!

can you not get a static IP from your internet supplier ? I dont have much knowledge of IIS and I dont use it for things on the internet I usually use Apache, and in Apache this could easily be achieved by adding in a Virtual Host / Directory, and then we'd just port forward and it would work aslong as the firewall is set up correctly.

You also may have A DNS issue on your DHCP if you cant talk to the domain, try manually setting an IP and see if that works.

Sony VAIO, cant recommend them high enough, I have one, the one before the one that has just come out. Ive upgraded the RAM from 4 gig to 8 and it is easily as fast maybe even faster than a MACBOOK Pro, came with Windows 7... That was wiped the first day I got it and it runs Fedora 18 absolutely sweet. Vaio's are stable, reliable and built to last and pretty expandable too.

If you have physical access to the switch and it is managed you could always connect to its management / console port and login to it and you will be able to find out all the info you need from there.

Generally speaking, a Layer 2 switch doesn't have / use IP addresses as its Layer 2 (Data Link layer of the OSI Model - MAC Addresses are layer 2 addresses), If you have a managed Layer 2/3 switch then you can give it an IP but its not forced to be your Gateway, we have IP's on our Juniper switches as they are layer 3 and they have an IP so we can manage them, however the IP is only on the management interface and not on the switch itself.

Unfortunately I cannot run the free version, we have oober amounts of RAM and 8 Cores per CPU and we have x6 CPU's so I dont think the free one with support the hardware. No, we dont have ESXI essentials .. just plain old boggo ESXI 4.1

I have Server 2012, However due to the fact that I have an Action Pack I have a grace period to do away with 2008 R2 and start using 2012 as soon as the grace period is over!!1 And Guess what.... I am running VMWare ESXI 4.1.... which cannot run 2012! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I dont have nay support now either so - its not going to be cheap to upgrade to version 5!!!! GGGGRRRRRRR!!! I do hope everyone else is having a nice day though!!

We use JDSU fiber testers here, its ok having light at the other end But if you have dirt on the fiber (which can only be seen using a fiber scope or similar) you wont get the best connection.

We arnt a school, we are an ISP. Although when I worked at a nearby college we did have something similar by Nortel, served all 8 remote sites.

Unless you actually need a physical server in a DC why not just get a hosted server out in the cloud somewhere - you can get virtual servers for next to nothing as month now.

Yes, although the options are greyed out for making Disk 1 bigger, possibly because the machine is on or it could be because this machine was migrated from a physical to a virtual. Ill power it down tonight and try it again tonight when everyone has gone home.

I have done that - I have the unallocated space waiting... But C: wont let me extend - upon right click the option to expand is greyed out.
