I am using Ghost also for Linux images and it seems to work good, just imaged off a CentOS 6.4 drive and restored it to a desktop PC, aslong as the drive sizes are similar in size IE not smaller than the image it will work.

Not enabled here as I tried to install Linux on a blade server, all my problems were because UEFI was enabled, as soon as I turned it off in the BIOS everything worked and I could install. I believe I couldnt even run the Disc to install.

Heres how I did it: Install Windows 8.1 - configure with everything, install apps etc. Reboot and use the Symantec Ghost Boot CD and Go to Ghostcast Open up GhostSRV and create a new session, select where you want to dump your image and give it a name and click accept clients Input the session name into ghostcast and select which drive to capture image Same but on restoring image click Send once you've selected hard drive in GhostCast. And away it goes, Have done 3 or 4 different machines now and 1 laptop. All working with Windows 8.1. My BootCD is BartPE disc - customized with Ghost32.exe on the root partition. Just boot from the CD (or even from PXE/USB) and run Ghost32.exe and ghostcast from there.

No UEFI enabled here... been caught out by that one before!!

Hi all, Routing through my draws I found my old disc with Symantec Ghost 11 on it. Bought this years and years ago. However - it's doing a good job of imaging two different machines with Windows 8 Pro. I use WDS mainly but just for the fun of it I thought I'd have a go with ghost. Very Nostalgic. Haven't used this in years!!!

Im still running a P4 3.0GHz (old Stone whitebox machine) How much is it worth ? LOL.... Can't afford to upgrade it. Runs XP nicely with it's 0.99 GB RAM.

They wernt getting an address though were they ? - hence the 169. address. ? Isnt this just a reserved address for if a machine cant get an IP from A DHCP server ?

Jeeez, haven't ran SuccessMaker since the days of RM Connect 2 on Windows 95.... those were the days!! But yeah SuccessMaker isn't RM specific, so long as you have the correct licensing you can use it.

Hi all, For some reason some of our users have American (US) set on there profiles, and some dont. I have tried everything this morning to get one user in particular back on UK locale, the only way I can do it was to add this user to Administrators group and go into there account and change the settings in the Control Panel. I logged in as local admin and network admin, changed the settings there and it still didnt work. The only fix was to drop the user into an Admin group. Is there a way to login a restricted account and change the settings / be admin without having to add the user to Admin groups / remove GPO's for that user etc ? TIA. Chris.

Have a look at the MTU size on your router, try changing it. We had a similar problem and changing the MTU fixed it and for some of our customers who also experienced this issue. Do this on the port which your fiber is connected.

Have you looked at other vendors such as HP or Juniper ? Cisco are great but they can be more expensive, and you can sometimes get more out of your kit for less money than you can with Cisco and if IIRC Cisco's licensing and support costs are through the roof!

Have bought my dearest a Zoostorm tablet for xmas, seems to be cheap and cheerful. Have had products from them before such as PC's and never had a problem. The tablet I Have bought is no different in quality as others ones Ive seen and used.

Hi all, I'm about to upgrade my 2008 Servers to 2012, however I was wondering how easy it would be to rename the domain before I upgrade. I want to rename it because currently the old company name is use din the domain name and I'd like to completely remove it from the domain name. Is there an easy way to rename or is it better off left alone ? Thanks In Advance.

Thanks if I run that tool now, am I going to loose everything on 2008 ? IE does it migrate and leave everything or does it Migrate and move evreything ?
