Hi All, I have a problem that is beginning to give me a headache... if my users are working on different documents on a Samba server that we have here, often documents are becoming read-only whilst they are using the documents or save the documents and in Explorer at the bottom on the status bar I get a message saying "Syncing There are file conflicts". I'm able to click it but for users they get the Administrator has disabled this feature. Anyone any Ideas why I'm getting File conflicts ? Thanks Chris.

Zabbix all the way, Zabbix even have a nice virtual machine for you to use. It'll graph everything for you. I use it on several ISP Networks at the moment. -
On my Action Pack Subscriber page I only have a US version of 8.1, I've had to unlock the locale settings and region settings for users so they can change the settings to British GB.

Recommend me a firewall

Reasons for not having to use pfsense... I can give you ONE.... THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!! I'd use Pf... stick it on an old machine / server and it'll chuck away nicely... one of the ones we have in production (on a Wireless ISP network so you can imagine the traffic) has been up for nearly 2 and a half years!! Cant get more reliable and solid than that!!! Besides, the main factor is VPN... no licensing involved!!! you can have as many as you want!! I wouldnt worry about the 20MB connection, on a HP ML110 G& I have a pfsense server running with 2x 1 gig uplinks. -
I have pfsense now running on a couple of different platforms... Server based and on a Watchguard.

OR get rid of the SmartCache 2 and use the linux server and install Dansguardian/Squid anyway!! therefore alleviating you of the stresses of a smartcahe! Plenty of guides to do so, All you do then is allow your IP Range for BYOD in the exceptions rule and they wont get filtered. -

Don't think I'm using edge transport as I just have the one server! -
Hi all, It's coming up the time that I need to renew my Action Pack!! Can Anyone (as in MS Resellers) provide me with a quote so I can throw this Action Pack out of the window cause it's doing my head!! I hate Action Packs!! I know no-one will beat the £279 a year costs for 10 licenses per product.... but can someone give me the cheapest price possible for 10 Users on 10 PC's ? I also want to get rid of the Action Pack as it's forcing me to change to Server 2012, which I can't do as my version of VMWare won't allow 2012 to run. I want to keep Windows 7 Pro, and Server 2008R2. The following needs quoting for: 10 Windows 7 PC's Office 2010/13 for 10 users 2x Server 2008 R2 Servers Exchange 2010 (Obviously I'll require CALS) the ability to add upto 5 more users if possible Thanks in Advance all.

Have you tried setting the gateways on your VLANS to use the Cisco rather than the RM ? -
And yes, any drives that we get spare we generally stick them into A spare pc or server and use samba or freenas and use them for storage
-
Either would be perfect mate. Cheers

I am hoping for a drive around the 250 gig mark. The machine I have is an SFF Supermicro.... Pentium 4 775 1GB RAM. Just got it today but the 250gb drive is goosed!!

Well, Lets be honest here, for every person thats abusing the benefits system.... Were would they get jobs from anyway ? there arnt enough jobs to go around ? Unfortunately there just arn't enough jobs! So people who are abusing the system really.... you can't fully blame them. The government needs to pull it's finger out... and fix the economy - Tax cuts would be great... businesses to pay less tax and sole traders to pay less meaning they could take on more employees or offer more services or even expand!! - possible!

To me having a job isn't the fact that I'm earning my money, I'm giving and showing my children a better future, leading by example. Having a job sets you free, fills you full of confidence and shows you how the real world works, dont get me wrong some people who are on benefits are on them for a reason and they arn't abusing it... but those who are - are just utter morons nothing less. Especially, when they think that going to work they loose out on time with there families and kids... which I can understand... but it's not a reason for not working.

Sacrifices ? What Can I sacrifice to own a car ? Not have any gas or electric ?... or not pay my water bill or my rent ?. I live basically as do my family... I dont have a massive TV or Sky, I have basic freeview. My PC is a Pentium 4 machine because I dont have the money to upgrade. I dont have laptops for each of us or tablets etc!!! SO tell me.... What can I sacrifice to own a car ?????? The folk I know on benefits, have Massive TV's, they have the highest Sky Subscription, They eat better than I do, the kids have better stuff than mine..... This is all material as my kids want for nothing and know the true value of things but this takes the mick when My sister in-laws guy has NEVER and I do mean NEVER worked a day in his life, he's 33. Never had a job... If you saw his house, his car and the way he lives I'm not kidding you'd think he was wealthy. He Sacrifices nothing at all. This guy once asked me "Why do you work? YOu do know you can sit on your arse spend more time with your family at home and still get decent money"? - he gets more benefits a month than I get paid wages. My sister in laws boyfriend, has 4 kids and gets income support because he suffers from migraines, all the time I've known him he's never had one, and has admitted to me that he blaggs it all the time, even to the doctor. He uses the 4 kids moneys to buy thinsg and gives his wife (yes his WIFE) £30 for shopping and house keeping and he pockets the rest. Sacrifices ???
-
I wish I could afford to do the simplest thing of own a Car... I have 2 kids it'd be great to take them out. I can't better my job because employers want a full driving license, I cant afford to do my driving test because I dont get paid enough, even If I did pass my test I couldn't afford to run a car anyway with the price of insurance etc. I know of people on benefits with more than One car, and i'm not talking cheap cars either!!

Great stuff, must be a great feeling to know your work is appreciated

THIS ^^^ , you have described my inlaws exactly!! Spend hundreds a week on Cigs, they have quit a couple of times and saw the benefits then the next week they are smoking again. They have Cats, and a disabled son living with them. Father in law broke his back many many many moons ago... no doubt this does affect him and BUT there are jobs hes capable of doing aslong as hes sat down... what about Office work ? or something to do with PC's since he's competent with PC's ? Fair enough my other-in-law is having strokes etc quite a bit and I understand why she can't work. They have been on benefits for a lot of years, I believe it's over 10 years. they have had credit card after credit card and are in masses of debt. They even had to get rid of the mobility car they had as they spend that much on Cigs that they couldn't put fuel in the car. Same story with my Sister in law, nothing wrong with her fully capable of work, She just chooses not to work. Her words to me have been "Why work when I can sit at home and get paid for it? and miss out on time with my Daughter?" (Bearing in mind her daughter doesnt live with her!!). Priorities are all wrong, and to get people to change they need a MASSIVE hoof up the backend!! my wifes family have basically disowned (The in-laws) me now because I am working, I have a job so im not at there immediate call any-more! I'm the outsider!! Excuse me for trying to give me and my family a better life and show them that working does pay. I work and still cannot afford A Car, which for me is the biggest thing!! I know of people on benefits living in 4 5 or 6 bedroom houses, really nice cars and they live with no worries at all. I have no car, but I have a nice house. Tax bills coming out of my ears and at the moment am struggling to feed my self let alone my family!! Hopefully soon, things are going to turn around!
