Surely this can all be done through a rather more extensive version of the Joomla Package though. I'm not saying it would be a small task, or that any single person would have time to do it, but as a collective, the world is an Edugeek oyster.

Well I've worked as a primary school ICT teacher so I would be happy to share my experiences in the project. If we could gather a team of volunteers and discuss what we'd like to see from a low and high level then things could start to happen. I would be happy to setup some sort of base for the project with regards to hosting space, I really don't use enough of what I've paid for.

That would be immense! Would love to be a part of any help I can offer on a project like this. It would provide such a great resource for schools without technical teams (primary sector etc). Anyone needs me I'm available!

It's just all to do with comfort with me, large amounts of text mean Im not moving the mouse very much or using the keyboard. It's hard to sit at a desk comfortably still for long periods of time. I'd much rather get in a comfortable position and read properly without being distracted by the aches and pains that kick in sitting at a desk. It's really not a screen problem, I just can't get comfortable at a desk being a "tallie". I need a new invention!

I use uk2.net for my business hosting and they've been always quick to respond to any queries. You'd have to contact them directly for details on what you want, but like I said, quick to respond to queries so you shouldn't have to wait long for a reply.

Had a strange one today..... A service error occurred (and reoccurred) on our HP 3800n printer. I contacted HP to find the dealio (yo) and went through a firmware upgrade. It's now sorted! Yay! I like the simple life! ::Technical Bits:: Error Code - 49.2FCB Service Error Apparantly a problem with one or two updates to applications (possibly IE and Adobe). Firmware can be found here if anyone has a similar problem. Anyone else having problems with the BBC website refreshing itself continually when going in via BBC - Homepage ?. We try and it continually refreshes itself and then finally (random points) catches the website and displays fine. It shows the redirect links as British Broadcasting Corporation is in the source during it's manic state of refreshing and seems to be a bbc issue. Just wondering if anyone else has the problem. I always find schools I go to have those interactive quiz things, use them for a week, the novelty wears off and oops there they are at the back of the cupboard. Perhaps somehow mounting them to a desk or something might be more appealing but they are a hell of a faff to setup if a teacher does decide to use them for a lesson. Perhaps somehow marrying them up with a PC via USB and then having them sat in a 'mouse holder' type affair might provide a more immediate incentive to use the technology. (via USB to the PC purely so they're not easily stolen)

I would appreciate it if Edugeek users didn't email me accusing me of ripping off the Edugeek Joomla package without first looking into the facts. My business is purely a side-show to go along with my fulltime job as an IT Technician in a secondary school. I provide a service to schools that do not have the knowledge or expertise to implement such a fantastic system designed by this forum. I am not in the IT game just to make a quick buck out of ignorance, I do however have a commitment to my customers whether it be schools, businesses or home users to provide an excellent service at a resonable rate. One that can be negotiated with a school budget in order for them to come out smiling with an end product. I'm sorry if my website was not clear on what I was offering and to be perfectly honest with you I haven't earnt that much from my outside business. The key there mate is to keep looking. I was in a similar situation a few years ago with 2 years experience and still struggled to find anything. Learn as much as you can from this fantastic forum, get yourself a VMware/windows 2003 server trial installed on your PC and have a play. It sometimes feels like you'll never get there but once the opportunity comes make sure you're ready with a polished interview technique and willingness to learn and improve. Unfortunately i'm not in your area so I can't really help in person. Good luck though mate and chin up

I believe we've had the same problem, it will more then likely come up with a fuser error in the near future like ours did. We sent it away for repair and seems to be working fine now.

Sorry to see you go Jake, unfortunate series of events it seems. A great shame there are snakes in the grass waiting to bring people down the ladder in order to get higher themselves. That is why I represent my own company on here. No one can tell me what to say or do in my own company!

Sounds interesting, imo i wouldn't let them get away with that kind of thing. Schools have a CPD budget, if you were asked to go on it then obviously there was a need for the skill for the school. They can't then say oh by the way, your new skills you've aquired are now ours and can you put this leash around your neck, it's unfair and you wouldn't have that if you were a teacher, guaranteed. Disappointing schools now want their cake AND eat it, if you're that much of a liability (in a leaving sense) why put you on it at all? I would tell them that it's an unreasonable request now that you've been on the course and wouldn't of bothered if it meant 'terms and conditions'. I feel disappointed that you've been treated this way, what ever happened to a 'golden handshake', much more appropriate, gives each party a little respect and removes the leash from the whole equation. We use a program (posted above) called LimitLogon, tells you where they are logged on and you can even force them to logoff through it, very handy

Thanks for the help guys! I do appreciate what you've come up with there but I really am looking for a slightly higher-spec. Thus the reason i'm willing to pay a little bit for it. No worries if theres nothing immediate, I'll keep watching ebay to see if theres any bargains. Thanks though guys.
