The questionnaires have been sent out, just need to do the govenors ones now. Hopefully i will get about 20% of them back, people seem to find throwing bits of paper in the bin a real hoot

It has certainly opened my eyes mate, also having the responsibility and time to get on with the task shows in itself how worthwhile it is. I mean how often do you get given time to do your own work? Lemme know how you're getting on mate would be worthwhile to share problems. Cheers Steve

Don't get me wrong I will be involving all parties but I shall be the one reviewing all the information and submitting it to the head to be evaluated. I'm not going off on a solo mission, but all the information and opinions do need to be brought to one central location in order for it all to be processed, I am that person, questionnaires, polls, interviews of certain individuals will all be down to me. Hi guys and gals, I am currently going through the process of reviewing my school using the Becta self-review framework as I believe we are worthy of the ICT Mark, however we have a few missing areas (leadership mainly) and i am taking it upon myself to work through and get this sorted. I will be over the next few days creating a (maybe more then one) questionnaire to create a vision which incorporates the views of govenors, teaching staff, stakeholders, parents, leadership team, parents and children. Obviously the questionnaire for the children will be different to the others and that one is done. I am however asking for opinions on what sort of questions I should include to ask the parents about what their vision of ICT should be. Any advice or opinions on this matter would be very welcome and hopefully my quest will start off on the right foot. I'm a technician and teaching assistant and I feel all the work I will put into this will pay off and provide me the experiance and portfolio to take my career to the next level. Not only for my own benefit however, having taught all the children in the school week in, week out (and having to remember 270-odd names a task in itself), I feel so passionately about providing these children with the resources they deserve. So please, any advice or opinions would be greatfully appreciated, and I thank you for your time. Steve

I studied sport along with computing, so it was a natural thing for me to be a keen sportsman outside work, but to anyone who doesn't use this method I recommend it so much! Not only do you have an instant relief afte the exercise but the energy you build up throughout the week just makes Fridays (and the weekend) like an orgasm Just doign anything really, I recently bought some weights, do a few bicep curls, situps, lunges and a jog afterwards is just so motivating. Hope you guys de-stress soon, nothing worse in life.

I get home have some dinner, sit down for half hour or so and then hit the weights and have a jog. Nothing like working out your stress through a bit of exercise. Cures me completely.

Well I work in a primary school and have no time to do anything ICT at the moment. My collegue and I teach all the ICT in the school. We have 2 ICT suites one containing 16 computers the other containing 15. Every classroom has a brand new desktop PC for the kids to use as a reward etc. Every classroom has a an IWB and projector, along with the ability to hook up the classroom desktop to it. (mainly the teachers laptops) Every teacher and teaching assistant has a laptop. (25 odd) We have a staffroom PC connected to the administration network (2 seperate networks in the admin + curriculum). It's a total mess though (not to look at) but just general thing that I don't get to sort out and build up and build up as time goes on. I teach 16 lessons most weeks with the odd 17 lesson week every now and again, we have the beauty of covering most of the PPA in the school so if something goes drastically wrong we're then stuck paying back peoples PPA time. Yes it is a nightmare, and yes I am considering a move Oh sorry forgot to mention I'm on 11K

Well you certainly have your head on your shoulders. Congratulations on having so many options.

At the end of the day it is very hard to have total control, we live in a democratic society where we expect people to behave in a way that does not effect others and certainly does not break the law. If people are stealing then they need to be dealt with higher up, it should not be the responsibility of the ICT technician or manager to be chasing staff for suspected law breaking.

I use scripts for my seperate suites, it seems the most reliable option to me. GL !

Impero allows you to shutdown pc's remotely, I believe you can automate it, but to be honest I enjoy shutting them all off myself remotely knowing that it's been done. Wish the monitors were automated too, pain in the ass

Pivot Stickfigure Animator is also very handy if you are in a Primary School, if you have 5 minutes spare at the end of a lesson they can always play about with animation techniques - always use it in our school

Adobe Reader is always handy mate. Also the Smart Notebook/Promethean Pix software is a free download, often handy to have them availible for the teachers who forget laptops and need to make resources.

Well my school has just introduced timesheets for all T.A's and techies, i get doubly assmunched being both. If we work extra hours we have to take them off the timesheet to only fill our quota, but if we work less we're expected to lose the money or make them up. Seeing as I was docked a day last month I will now be seeking every ounce of overtime I do. 30 mins first day back - good start

Well i'm kinda having my ears burnt coz I'm having trouble finding the time to look into much ICT technical stuff at the moment, (never do a teaching assistant/IT tech job - absolute nightmare). What they/we want is for the teachers to be able to access a certain folder on the Administration Server from anywhere on their laptops. FTP just sounded like the easiest option from my POV, but i'm willing to listen to any help you can throw my way. End of the year and I still feel stressed, lol, utter madness. Cheers Steve

Hi there, Haven't asked many questions directly on here but I'm a little stumped at the moment. I'm trying to create an FTP server for our admin server in order for staff to access the work etc that is uploaded from our teachers etc. I have completed the installation etc of IIS Manager but I am struggling with it actually being able to connect from outside of the network (connects fine locally). We use EMBC broadband, I am unable to ping or tracert through the router and I was wondering if anybody knew how I could work around the router or change settings within it. I have no idea what the address is of the router and to be honest with my teaching schedule don't really have the time to research it in too much depth. If anyone could help me from an educational point of view I would very much appreciate any help you can throw my way. Many thanks in advance (back to these hyperactive kids then I guess)
