I think that Prezi app would tie in nicely with the interactive desk by Msoft. I'm excited to see what sort of applications are going to appear for it, in fact, I want one now so I can create my own! :-)

The waiting game is tough mate, especially at this 'economic time' (hate using that phrase). You've just got to hold out mate. Have you thought about speaking to your line manager to perhaps discuss the possibilities of having more time with the computers. Maybe pitching a project which would benefit the school.....providing you are given more time in the techie part ;-) Best of luck though mate and keep your chin up, I was in a similar situation a year ago, it is hard but something will come up!

I used to draw some stuff like that when i was a kid, it was the "in thing" to do back in the year 7's/8's. Wouldn't pay too much attention to it but still, having them take up all your storage space! Hang him! :-) Give him a pencil and notepad, like the old days!

I happened to stumble across it last night looking for a hotel near st pancras train station on google maps, its pretty cool. hadn't seen it before, was handy to follow the directions to it in person before we do the walk itself. Good old Google! :-)

That is one of the main reasons we bought a box and hosted it ourselves. You can use the LDAP stuff to integrate with the Active Directory, it takes out all the hassle! I'd very much recommend it from an administration point of view, obviously depending on your time constraints to the VLE itself. I'm pretty much the VLE guy here.

No offence to your hardware knowledge mate but building a pc isn't what the A+ is all about, yes it gives you the ropes for building and identifying components but it really is much more than that. If you are coming into IT with little or no working experience then the A+ is exactly what you need. It tells possible future employers that a)No i haven't been working in IT but heres a cert to show I have a good working knowledge of PC's and understand the principles......SO GIVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY b)You are willing to learn and progress. Yes it is an entry level certificate but wouldn't put you far wrong. It's not very expensive to do and can allow you access to more advanced courses later. Most companies use the A+ as a prerequisite for their MCSE paths. Just something to think about before you rule it out

Host moodle yourselves! Buy a semi decent box to stick it on and get ur isp to route what u need. You then have almost full control over it, no bloomin cock ups at the lea end! We've got ours running on a Sun box, works a treat, great performance and doesn't throttle the internet when used in school as its redirected locally.

Well I am just pissed off with the whole system from my own experience, I was let down and now have to pay the price. I don't believe that being from a council estate works against you at all, there is every opportunity as everyone else to go to university these days and because my family pays a mortgage we're worse off then another person paying minimal fee's for a flat? The benefits of living just above the line, oh wait, there are none. Cheers!

Yes deprivation is still high, doesn't mean there aren't opportunities? Where are my opportunities, oh yes thats right in the 4500 quid i owe from actually finding out that my family and i couldn't afford a university education. God forbid people who pay a mortgage and actually try to make a living for themselves rather then sponging off a system of excuse and laziness!

That is why when you make yourself known to the media, you stay known.... through good or bad. I'm afraid I lost the little respect I had for her with her racial outbursts on TV. People seem to forget that. My heart goes out to her family though, must be very tough like someone said seeing this everywhere, being unable to escape for a minute.

Impero have made a brilliant product and have used it in many schools i have worked in. The tech support is very good and to be honest i prefer it over most other products because its so easy to use but has some cracking features. They release a fair few updates a year too, not only fixing a few things but putting in new resources to play with. Give them a ring, very competitive pricing.

Moodle functions in a similar way to what you are after, could be used as an addition to the website plus the fact you are then implementing a new VLE, what could be better? :-)
