countModules('user1 and user2')) : ?> style="width:520px;" style="width:930px;" > If I remove that code I no longer have the grey box but the background gray has also removed, so it's something along those lines, I've tried taking out bits of the code but to no avail I believe it uses the image top_mod.png << Although having removed both bot_mod.png AND top_mod.png it still displays. Sorry for being a pain :-( -

It looks as though it is an image, the user/newsflash areas are only at the very tops of the grey area, now to find out what it is called. Thanks for your help -

Welcome to Educational Psychology Services (UK) Ltd << Sorry redirects screwed up again :-( UK2 seem to have a hard time doing redirects and it's getting on my nerves. As well as the grey area on the site does anyone have any clue about redirecting? Trying to get the Index of / to automatically point to Welcome to Educational Psychology Services (UK) Ltd but it just doesn't seem to want to do it using the cpanel. Had problems with my own site too (UK2 hosted). It's a real pain in the bum! Thanks again for any replies -
Haha, that's the only reason I looked! Gutted..... jacket and salad tonight then

Hi guys, this isn't edugeek joomla related but more general Joomla. Wasn't quite sure where else it would go. I've downloaded and installed a template and just trying to play about with how it looks before I start messing with the articles/menus etc. It looked messy with latest posts/popular at the top of the page so I took them out. I now have a whopping great gap between the top of the page and my logo (work in progress). Anyone have an idea what I need to change in order for the grey gap to disappear, is it a generic term in Joomla? Educational Psychology Services (UK) Ltd (I had nothing to do with the site name by the way!) is the URL to the site (Even if the grey top bit was moved below the header would be fine if it would effect the layout. Just not really sure what I'm looking for to do this, i'm learning though!) Thanks in advance any help at all is appreciated.

What day is it today?

With regard to starting your own business, it is very hard. VERY hard. Having spent this past year setting things up along with juggling a full time job it has been extremely exhausting. When you're not thinking about work in a fulltime job you are thinking about the other work you have to do. I wish it was as simple as setting up a business and getting on with a job you enjoy. It's far from that. Taxes / Invoices / Websites / Market Research / Business Banking / Self-evaluation / Competition It really is a lot of work, and most of it does not pay anything. I would recommend finding yourself a job in the meantime outside of the industry because it certainly gives you a thirst for it when you come home, giving you a fresh mind to concentrate on your own work. It sounds like you aren't in the best situation for starting a business, it seems like an easy road but you really don't get paid for a long time after starting it. The other problem is, it is quite expensive if, like me, you start it with next to no cash. The only real benefit I had was paying for my webhosting outright, that gave me the time to work on my selling points, what I wanted to achieve and where I want to take my business. It is a very competitive market at the moment and not easy to get into, especially if you are unfamiliar with the UK's tax system. Theres a lot of hidden bits to it that make me cringe, and I have the benefits of having a taxman as a good friend and a girlfriend with a father as an accountant. Dont rush into starting a business due to financial reasons, it often fails. Find yourself a job to get yourself by and work on your business in your spare time. It's the only way it's financially viable. Good luck

In for the two weeks so i've taken today and tomorrow off as a light reprieve. Although i'm working my arse off on my business today as i'll probably have little time off for a couple of months. I miss my term-time contract...*sniff*

Moodle - Stopping students changing name/surname
apoth0r replied to apoth0r's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Thanks guys, very much appreciated. Now to rid these hooligans of their naughty names! Merci! -
I've looked and looked but found nothing very conclusive. Has anyone got an idea how to stop students changing their names or surnames (not too bothered about the country). I'm just getting a bit fed up with a few of the kids who find it funny to put "rude" words in their names. It's not big, it's not clever Anyway, any help here would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time Steve

Nope, I was a good boy Wouldn't have dared push it that far! Suspension/expulsion was worse then death back then! (not that far back really, don't times change )

The TES supplement is actually quite good, unfortunately the teachers let down the forums with their "high-horse" syndrome. Oh well, glad i'm wrapped up in my warm edugeek blanket, it's safe here!

It isn't just teenagers, I'm 25 and to be honest I'm just the same as the teenagers, although perhaps I do get up earlier then I used to when I have a day off or the weekend for example. That is just because I want to make use of the day. I agree with Witch entirely, think back to when you were at school. There would always be one day of the week where you'd have such a miserably boring lesson first thing, guess what..... the rest of the lessons in that day suffered because of it. Enthusiastic, vibrant and of course INTERESTING lessons are of paramount importance first thing! Always enjoyed science first thing on a Thursday when I was a lad because we'd do something practical. I'm not a qualified teacher but if we can hit the nail on the head with a single forum thread, what the hell are these people being paid for?

I use a 37" tv in my bedroom, use a hdmi/dvi for pc and hdmi for the xbox. Works really well. HDMI xbox just looks awesome, the pc is a little ropey but hey DVI to HDMI really isn't going to be brill.

Unfortunately I haven't used Fronter. What I can tell you about Moodle though is that it's superb maintenance wise. I've had no real big problems since it was installed, the only thing i'm trying to fathom is stopping the kids changing their profile names etc. Anyone knows let me know

Happy birthday Sir G Dook, have a good one!

I wonder if he gets better mobile reception??

Haha, very true. There's always exceptions to the rules!

I think the problem is this person has suddenly appeared as an expert. Like this forum, respect is earned and rightly so. To be told that someone is an "expert" with no real immediate proof tends to put the critical pants on most people. It's a shame really because teachers do need to be persuaded about the advantages that ICT brings to their profession, in the nicest possible way of course.....*kicks whip under the desk*
-
Yeah I signed up to the TES a few years ago when I was teaching ICT, I was appauled at the behaviour of some people on there. Constantly berating any post made. Put me off completely and closed my account. Feels like a forum full of union reps in my opinion, or it's just the profession.....I didn't say that! (ensures teacher girlfriend never joins edugeek)
