I used Impero Inventory for a few years, not sure what they use here as I haven't done one yet

Sounds like crazy pills in 2009! Please elaborate! Sounds like some sort of parent information scheme! Crikey!
-
Hahahaha, chuckles in the office!

Congratulations, she looks adorable. All the best for all of you!

or if your host has a cpanel, create yourself a new FTP account with access to what needs accessing. Saves on "accidents" later ( myurl .com/cpanel)

I've only heard good things about Ruckus! Would be well worth finding someone with the kit and taking a look, I know I was amazed at how marvellous the kit was. CP Ltd are a reseller/partner (can't remember which) might be worth giving Simon a call for a rough quote.

Used the service desk to rule out one of the possible problems and was given a bit of info. Then went to good ol' Spark for a config file. All working and dandy now. Thanks for the heads up though Tony

Anyone got a config.php file i can edit to at least see if it's installing?
-
I just phoned them to explain the situation, had the permissions changed for my FTP account that I am using as part of the Joomla installation and it's still not working. Absolute pain in the bum!
-
It's not giving me the permissions to change any permissions is my point and i'm logging in with the main PLESK account for the school, very frustrating
-
Will get back to you Kim, Thanks

Doesn't seem to matter what I try it still won't let me install it properly "No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting..." After removing the installation directory, after going through the whole installation process, Joomla even tells me the configuration file is writable at the beginning of the installation. Anymore clues as to what I should be doing? I presume I'm going to need some sort of Administrator login for the site, do I contact EMBC regarding this or will the school have the details of this?

Cheers Kim

Hi guys, Trying to install the package on the county hosting for a primary school and it keeps basically going round in circles, whilst not creating the config.php. Any reason for this? What am I not doing that I should be. Installed Joomla dozens of times so I assume it's something to do with permissions, as it's not writing the config.php or even looking like it's trying. (No errors though?!?!) Forgive my ignorance

Our internet has been down since Saturday afternoon in school and its an absolute nightmare! Anyone else struggling with internet (it works at about 24bytes/sec)? We've logged calls with EMBC/Synetrix but still nothing, anyone got any news?

Perhaps rather then a generic version of Yuuguu, you have one geared towards educational establishments. The problems with generic is that it is far too easy to use tools not designed for a these institutes. I'm all for helping you with your endeavours but as the software stands it is not suitable for my establishments. Perhaps you may look into providing a yuuguu plugin for Moodle (open source VLE) that may assist your efforts in online collaboration. This is one example of many uses I can see for specified educational tools from your company. Kind regards

Shame the post counts are a bit low! Any primary related questions would be of use here, even if you are copying and pasting from an original thread in the main forum! Keeps us on our toes! Have a great Easter break people!

I've been with NTL/Virgin Media for the past 10 years and to be honest haven't really had a problem. A Few bits and bobs when I've been in a frustrated mood more then anything. It all seems to boil down to the switching over, you'd expect better customer service if that is the case!

Moodle Upload limit 60mb but over 500k hangs
apoth0r replied to a topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
As the main face of the VLE to staff, I ask any larger files be put on the shared area for me to evaluate and upload via FTP. Keeps things under control because I hate the idea of too much being uploaded for their own 'shared area' kind of use, because that is what most of them think -
It will be under the blocks editing for students, you can either show course catergories (the smaller version) or list of courses (the one that sounds like you have)

I like the HP 1320n, good print quality! Not sure on the prices though as i don't do the cartridge orders!

I wish these companies would understand their audience a little better before shouting about how brilliant their software is for them. Yuuguu may be an excellent collaborator for older students at university/research level but I'm afraid any chat tool can and will be abused by the children of 11-18. It's down to the fact they do not want to talk about work in that environment (silence is a virtue - or at least used to be). If YOU would like anymore information on the shinanigans, with instant messaging programs, in schools please speak to ANY member of staff in an educational establishment. I'm sure every one of them will have a story to tell. So before you try to sell anymore of your ideas to the forum, bare in mind that we deal with the end product of these tools day in day out, and our picture is a lot broader than yours. I wish it wasn't the case because there are possibilities of some good collaboration, IF we lived in an ideal world. Sorry to burst your BuurBlee

Apologies for not being Edugeek! :(
apoth0r replied to apoth0r's topic in EduGeek Joomla 1.5 Package
Nothing better then throwing yourself in the deep end! I'm ok with some stuff, Joomla just throws me a curve-ball every so often, I'm sure you've been there Many thanks for your help anyhow, shall add that bookmark to my favourites for future reference, thank you. -
Welcome Bigape! We hope your experience with wireless networking in a school is a gooden! Maybe you can pass on your experiences for all of us who may have to take it on in the very near future! I'd be interested to find what you bought and for how much!
