The "consultants" that the government employs to do their work for them. They have to get paid somehow, so why not cause a debate about colours of flippin network points! So glad I'm starting to get some schools under my business wing, it makes me sick the way some companies leech the money out of education. *Rant over* lol

I started a web club with Year 6's in my old primary school. I just used notepad and some good tutorials for starting a basic webpage. Nothing like being thrown in the deep end to get them thinking and involved in the work. Teach concepts not applications!

Having recently bought 10 laptops for a primary school, Simon @ CP Ltd gave me a few cracking options with regards to the spec I was after. Worth dropping him a line if you aren't looking for specific manufacturers

Permissions > Define Roles > Manage Roles > Edit Under the "Course" heading View hidden activities moodle/course:viewhiddenactivities View hidden courses moodle/course:viewhiddencourses View hidden sections moodle/course:viewhiddensections View hidden user fields moodle/course:viewhiddenuserfields I believe the Deny parent permissions stop it for each course. Have a test with the main teacher/non-editing to see if it allows, then disable per course? I have those 4 set to allow, and it seems to work for me

In my experience it's regarding the permissions, I had a bit of a faff setting it up and ended up contacting the provider to sort it for me. That's what they are paid for! Just explain the problem and they will get back to you when it's sorted.

What i'm saying is the cost of doing the degree vs actually wanting to follow that path after doing it. Yes a degree is great whatever you decide to do, but just make sure before jumping in

I was in a similar situation, I think at the end of the day it's a money issue, can you weigh up the costs of putting urself through a degree and PGCE for the sake of a few quid. Would the primary then be able to afford you if you did? I would personally opt for the HLTA, that can be funded by your school and give you the relevent experience in teaching good lessons, it will save many years of your life for something that may or may not appeal to you after those 3/4 years. It's a tricky decision and I would by no means rush into it! Good luck

Wish I had pictures of the examples, if any light shone on the screen it was basically unviewable. At least with glass it can be preventatively maintained by allowing staff to use water based products rather then the mess it causes on normal TFT's

I worked in a few primary schools in Nottingham with nurseries and to be honest I recommend the glass fronted. Although they mean well, cleaning the screens with water happens quite a lot by the staff there. Which obviously destroys the lifecycle of the kit. Well worth the extra few quid for lasting use!

It's Pivot 2 the latest one but there's supposed to be a Pivot 3!!!

The most recent version is much better then the original too!! (Pivot) That really is fun and the concepts are handy for the ICT curriculum! We had many a funny lesson with that! :D

Servers are cheap these days. i don't understand why you'd want to go with an unreliable desktop. Warranties with servers far outweigh building/buying a bespoke system that may or may not do what you need it to. Yes you don't have many users at the moment, but who knows what's going to happen in 3/4/5 years time. Think about the future and invest in it.

Does SIMS not come with a minimum system requirement, thats usually a good guideline!??!

I live in Wellingborough and it's been handy for some exams I've had to do. Not sure about the quality of the lecturers as i only applied for the exams. Advent Training might be an option, give them a ring see if they can accomodate what you are after, they're workshops are very good, speaking from experience.

Sorry to intrude, but any themes at all that would look good as a generic whole site template! The one I've pieced together is not worthy of being used, we need something with a little more pizzaz!!! (again sorry to jump on your thread!!)
