Promethean aren't bad, a little more resiliant then the Smartboards due to its differing technology but certainly wouldn't pay those prices for warranties. I'm a huge fan of the SMARTboard stuff, the software and resources are brilliant, always try to push primary schools for these because they do just work!

Problems with tabbed browsing and the ability to open up further windows (that actually load a page). It's happened on a few machines I have used with IE 8 and has become a right pain in the backside!

Hi guys, Just had a phone call from one of my primary schools to say their admin share isn't connecting. Having just arrived i am having problems connecting to the server through \\servername\adminshare, it's popping up dialogue about "No network provider accepted the given network path" Any ideas what has knocked the share off and why I am unable to access it. Which area should I be looking at, was hoping for a day off today!!

That is what he wanted everyone to believe but at the end of the day you don't see the millions of other people that have been brought up in hard times whining on the media because he didn't get to play with transformers as a kid. His life was dedicated to 'how not to....' I don't believe in this worldwide mourning, there are people in this world who deserve it more than him!

If you are looking to gain the ICT Mark for your educational establishment I recommend you starting with what was formally known as the Becta Matrix. It is a self-assessment of the current standard you are at. It is by no means a simple and straight forward process, you will have to work through evidence of each criteria. If I recall it goes through a 7 Section booklet, Management, resources, curriculum, CPD, and others i forget at this moment in time. It would be wise to sit down, go through each section and compare yourself against the 5 sentences, being honest and giving evidence where appropriate. From that you can begin to factor in ways of improving each component, in past experience, a section at a time. If you can show signs of excelling in a single area, it may be enough to bring in the "Becta inspecta" (boom boom) and be accredited for a single component of the framework. Again however from past experience it would be better to have A-grades within 3/4 sections before moving onto the inspection. I'd be happy to help if you require any more information or assistance. We're on V6, it's amazing! Some cracking new features and utilities, my colleague is very very happy with it!

Primary schools are excellent places to work! How are you finding it, what is your role within these schools and are you taking into consideration not just the technical parts but how it all benefits the curriculum! Very important when being a techie in a primary, they need the whole package! Glad to see there are more and more people joining this group (although it's quiet) it means that primary schools are finally getting the support they need with I.T, whether it be a teacher with a keen interest or a share of a full time techie, excited to see how much further primary schools can move with regards to curriculum resources with an I.T twist!

We use the eXtreme stuff, as far as I recall, there hasn't been a single problem since I started in September, we've done the usual switch restarts during the holidays to see if anything crops up but they just work regardless!

I think I remember seeing it go back all the way to the DOS OS's, I loved the little niblet we got through that cockup their end. Managed to get a few bits of software that were interesting. Think we've just bought it here, looking forward to having a play!

The thing I like about them is that they just work, they are friendly looking and the kids just engage. Hoping that this offer is open to others!
