  1. Depends the time you have and the resources, I just created a powerpoint for my former primary school, that was more than enough for what they wanted to display - dates - news - some photos etc. We use sadeo boxes to display content in this secondary school. All streamed from a server to the individual screens around the school.
  2. Work in progress was hung on the thread me thinks...
  3. Welcome to the wiered and wonderful world of the geek, may all your problems be little ones
  4. Love it mate, great job. Inspiration to the cause!
  5. Makes you think why these people are employed so highly in the government. not once do they accept responsibility nor do they seem to even care they've cocked up so many things. All because they were too shy to roll their own sleeves up and do some work. GRRRR *You won't like me when i'm angry*
  6. Anyone have a glossary of terms for teacher training that they could share with me? It's for our VLE at Unity College
  7. kmount, what are you doing thursday afternoon mate? I've booked the Thursday and Friday off, any possibilities I could pop in and have a look at what you guys are doing? PM me mate
  8. Played with it at a primary school and it was far too OTT for that level. I'd really recommend Moodle as a fantastic free alternative, obviously a local 'in the know' person would maintain it LP+ is good for many things and was a pleasure to work with as a first glance into the VLE world, but for ease of use you can't knock Moodle, it does what it needs to and it does it simply and effectively. Why tie yourselves to contracts when there are plenty of experienced users who are willing to help local schools?
  9. Was it not you this time Little Miss? Makes a change

  13. I must admit i quite like having a play with the themes :-) One of the perks of the task. Although seeing a new course constructed is also quite rewarding, especially when a teacher has done it all themselves! :-)
  14. http://moodle.unity.northants.sch.uk We started it approximately beginning of February, been working very closely with an ICT Teacher and have come up with some good ideas so far. Hoping we can keep the tech and the T&L close together so we can have the ideal platform :-) Mainly working on tutorials at the moment because it's the teachers that supply the content, so they need to know how to do it. I'm hoping it's going fully live as of Easter, but the teachers have picked up on it very well I have to say. They seem eager for content to go on and are asking me lots of questions, I hope you guys are having the same feedback as I have. Very encouraging.
  15. TerminatorX seems to do a resonable job with things like that, new version out too apparantly.
  16. Me and a teacher responsible for Moodle are working hard on the top dogs to let us go. fingers crossed we can come too, it's not too far away. will keep you posted.
  17. I think the shaven look as well makes it even more unrecogniseable. Who you woo'ing this weekend then Dos?
  18. Nevermind eh?
  19. Wonder if they'll do pies at a posh chinese/thai restaurant i'm going to Friday night. Duck and Hoisin with potatos and onion *grrrayveh* (cue northern accent)
  20. Try giving CPLTD a call, Simon has had good feedback on the forums for toner supplies
  21. Well it felt like the coursework was so structured towards using access that there were no further options. Having thought about it a few years later examples of other database driven apps would have been better. Would have given a much greater understanding of the theory behind databases too. Mind you, our teacher did stand at the front of the class reading from the book we had on our desks in front of us. Think ICT needs to be much more practical and like projects in Graphics/Product Design need to be a lot more student driven. Teachers need to pick the pace up a bit and get the knowledge across so that students can then explore their own 'ICT' area. Theres too much to cover everything, but why can't teachers be more clued up in a broader area?
