It's the courts fault for constantly ruling in favour of these rediculous claims, they should be told "stop wasting peoples time and grow up". The head is liable but come on....... if a child is allergic then they need to be responsible for themselves like we all were when we grew up!!! Jeez

As an example, there's a virus, there is no anti virus protection. It is a home PC and they want rid of it. They give me a call and they don't feel happy about sorting it themselves as they are a little petrified of anything above looking at bbc.co.uk and writing/printing a letter in Word. They give me the computer, I go home, install AVG free - run the antivirus scan and it picks up all the viruses and runs a lot better. It has taken me 3 hours in total from starting the PC up to the point where I have phoned the customer and shut down ready to be taken back. I don't charge them for 3 hours because, I haven't done anything during the time it has taken to scan. I have installed a piece of software that I have done time and time again and is by no means a chore The user has no idea of what I have done so by not charging for the full time taken I am showing them that people are out there willing to help and installing the confidence into the customer to continue using IT and further supporting my business plan. Tempted to write a post on my website regarding why we don't charge "fixed rates" and why people should be wary of such.... (Still a little angry......breathe!!)

Why would a supply need to access SIMS? And even if they did, wouldn't they go through their line manager or through the bursar to access? Generic teacher/visitor account is all that is needed, they are there to teach lessons not be involved in the financial system?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Hate these companies making my life harder, instead of commiting the time to the job I am increasingly spending more time explaining the fault in rediculous detail and writing reports to that effect (being a new'ish business). Absolute pain in the arse because I actually don't rob my customers, as far as im concerned the sooner i can get on with the work the cheaper it is for the customer! I hate these fixed prices (£49 for a service) what does it actually entail? Oh that's right it doesn't say......making customers even more vigilant. At least with an MOT you have a list of things that need to be checked and you have an idea. Really saddens me that someone knows a bit about computers they think they can run a proper business, but in the end it's just the money they want, forget customer satisfaction and general etiquette. :mad::mad::mad:

IT Teachers are not part of the administration setup, they are teachers so there is no reason/need for them to have Admin rights. They do not control the network, they teach the curriculum, so like any other teacher they should have a teacher account. If you were not there then I would say fair enough, but as you are the network manager and responsible for the network you shouldn't grant them permissions on the basis that if he cocks things up, it's on you.

A+ is like the pre-requisite of the MCSE/CCNA stuff usually. Especially if you have signed up for a 'training programme'. I would work really hard on the A+ depending on your experience, it's not the hardest of exams if you work in the industry but the few hours extra you do is surely going to guarantee a pass. If you feel confident having taken examples/mock tests then you should be fine in the real thing! I'd possibly recommend the MCDST after the A+ as it will be a good next step up!

Again as i've put in many many topics like this, no child is the same and will deal with life differently. Regardless of policy / laws. Stiff sentences for the ones that do commit these crimes is a deterrent and should not be eased up on because of their age. Yes they made a mistake but at the end of the day 99.9% of other kids didn't. Why taint the rest with the same brush...

Theres no one solution to any of this, every child is an individual and are not the same! This research is tainted by children fitting in with their friends, "yeah i saw something too :confused:" Just really don't agree with the report and it's intention to cause a storm. I'm unsure why they didn't bring up the wireless network "issues" again while they were at it!

Make the driving age 21 or over? Then again why should the majority of teenagers suffer because of a few..... These things happen, it's never going to churn out a zero figure of accidents.

Give them a guide regarding e-safety, how to block unwanted emails and let them know that unfortunately it isn't a part of your job to monitor external email accounts. The user could contact Microsoft to complain about the abuse

Smoothwall is great, EMBC seems to have a lot of things locked down and a little time each week blocking anything else that pops up. I'm into my 3rd year of working for the actual county itself (in schools) and I had maybe £100 pay rise during my teaching spell of 2 years in a primary school. teaching 17/18 hours per week and using the remainder of my 30 hour contract in trying to fight fires. Having had enough of it i moved to a secondary school, a nice pay increase but still far below that of a new qualified teacher. Yet I have 6 years of experience in schools?!!? Tis a mockery, and to be honest, will only push me out of the joke that is county payscales. We could all just become self employed and charge double for the same work, that's what happens though right?
