It's my daughters 10th birthday in a few weeks and the wife and I would like to buy her first mobile phone (sim free). We have budgeted around £100 for a new or used phone but I'm unsure what to buy. Personally I prefer iPhones but the wife uses a Samsung S7 which she likes so each to their own. To keep costs down perhaps I should be looking at the newer mobile brands like Huawei and a quick look on Amazon shows brands I've never heard of so I'm in need of guidance! Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to install RSAT on a new machine using feature on demand but not getting very far. It looks like it's installing until I look in feature history and it says install failed. Event viewer lists error 1001. I'm following the instructions here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=45520

We have our VoIP hosted with Orbtalk and have 10 extensions. I don’t have the costs in front of me but I know it’s not cheap. I did think about hosting in house but didn’t want any problems as I’m part time so one of the hosted solutions may be the answer. What companies offer this service?

Did a test of the Quadro NV315 today using 3 old monitors and it worked a treat. The NV315 has 2 VGA outputs plus I used the onboard VGA so 3 monitors. Really easy to setup running on win10 1903

Thanks guys. I must confess I never got AD to store the keys before today even though GP was set to so I thought it must not be compatible with server 2012. I checked GP settings and found the error, it had store keys in AD but for server 2008.

I'm setting up a new win10 1903 machine and as this is for the admin office I'm enabling bitlocker. Normally I store the keys on a network drive that only I have access to but on this machine when I try to save the key only the C:\ drive is listed i.e. no network drives at all. I've tried two different logins and both the same. All mapped drives listed correctly in explorer. Anyone come across this?

We're on sitewide 1803 edu and my plan was to upgrade the to 1903 over the summer. Looking at the windows lifecycle https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet we are only going to gain a month of life before being forced to upgrade again so now I'm in two minds if it's worth the time and seriously thinking of leaving it till next year.

I should be ok, @ICTDirect_Dave has sorted me a nVidia Quadro NVS315. The HT is having an office refurbishment over the summer and the 3 monitors will go in then. I'll report back when it's up and running.

Is there an easy way to force inspire not to check for updates on startup as we are getting the 'the proxy server requires authentication' error. I know I could tell teachers to change Inspire settings themselves to remove the tick in 'check for updates on startup' but I was looking for an automated way. On testing I see Inspire changes two files 874.in and 1091.io in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Promethean\ActivInspire\UserProfile\Program Settings when settings are changed but I'm unsure if simply copying said files to everyones profile would cause other problems?

Looking through the Azure logs there are many failed logins from addresses linked to malicious activity or failed logins because of password errors. The only account so far without these hacking attempts is the 365 admin account because it's an obscure name or hidden from the address book as 6 months ago a teacher account was hacked and started sending spam and this I expect is how they got the address book. Azure lists the client app as 'other clients; IMAP' so I'm wanting to get 365 locked down better than it is. What protocols should I disable? Most users use either Office 2016 or Outlook via a browser and some have the Outlook mobile app. Using a test account I disabled IMAP and POP and everything still works as I tried all three above but I see 'Exchange web services' is enabled.
