Just about finished setting up 32 iPad using Mosyle as the MDM. Ran into problems at first but after I worked out where I was going wrong setting up the remaining iPads went quite quickly. I've just noticed the first couple of iPads I setup have GarageBand, iMovie, Numbers and Pages missing from the screen. These two iPads were erased and setup again just to see how Mosyle worked more than anything and I think this is were the problem started. Looking in Mosyle App Center shows the apps installed on 30 devices when it should be 32 and I have no idea how to get them back on the first two. Any help appreciated.

Right more information and just wanted to get your opinion before I contact Orbtalk as this might have a bearing on our dropped lines. Came in school today and there is an email from the office manager explaining that she received a call on Friday from someone trying to call a food supplier. It appears the caller got to the food suppliers IVR and selected the option for accounts but was transferred to the office managers phone rather than the food suppliers. The food suppliers number is nothing like the schools so it wouldn't be a because of misdialing and the callers number is not listed in the call logs.

We have thought about it but Wave9 only do VoIP with the handsets and as we have already bought decent Yealink handsets it seems like we would be paying twice. Had we looked around in the first place things might have been different. Incidentally, Orbtalk were recommended by Virgin as a VoIP supplier (I should have known it would end in tears).

Sorry I gave the wrong information. The Aruba 2920 is the core and switch in question is a HP 1910-48.
-
Found it but it needs a paid subscription before Mosyle will add the settings!

Most of the cabling dates back to when the school was with Virgin and goes back to one cab. It made sense to keep the existing cabling and add a new switch, an Aurba 2920-48. There are 12 phones connected and nearly all the other connections are used for data so maybe the switch can't cope with the throughput. As time went on and another handset was needed we just connected it to the nearest network point so just spent a little time double checking the network paperwork and one of the problem phones is connected to a different switch in a different part of the school. The handsets are Gigabit T46, T42 and the cheap and nasty Gigaset N300 which funny enough seem to stay online when the others have not.

Around 4-5 years ago we started using a managed VoIP from Orbtalk. At first it gave problems with bad call quality but after changing our ISP to Wave9 and using a Sophos XG things were rock solid. Since June we have started having problems again but this time lines go offline when viewed in the Orbtalk portal and any calls to the offline numbers are either transferred to a mobile number that we set for VoIP outages or to voicemail depending on the line. Not all lines go offline and sometimes lines that went offline stay on when others go off. Strange thing is the offline number can make calls and the portal shows them as making a call but they cannot receive calls. They come back on their own or when the the handset is rebooted. Orbtalk support have investigated and said this Wave9 cannot see anything wrong with the XG. For much of the time everything is fine just now and again lines dropout. Any pointers on where to start looking?

Just started using the free version of Mosyle to manage 30 iPads and would like to add Netsupport DNA as a browser app. Adding the app is easy enough but I'm unsure how to push the setting across to the iPads. Any pointers? Thanks.

The HD LED is the small light on the front of the machine that shows when the drive is being accessed. My machine has a mechanical drive used for storage that is in addition to the SSD that the OS is on. The memory is 8GB and when I first noticed the odd behaviour this morning I hadn't opened anything else apart from Chrome. Not had time to run any further checks but this afternoon I walked by another machine and could see the drive LED was lit solid and Chrome was running. This might be pure coincidence but it's suspicious and worthy of more testing.
-
Has anyone else seen an issue with Google Chrome constancy causing the HD LED to be on? I know it's chrome as each time I close it the LED goes off and back on again as soon as Chrome is open. We are using 93.0.4577.63
-
The latest version 92.0.4515.159 just released fixes the issue and installed without problem.
-
I'm sad to say the latest version is still not installing for us as I tested on 3 machines and they are all showing the spinning wheel and been like that for 10 minutes. The chromium forum shows others are still having problems too. https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1231513

Thanks. On holiday in sunny Ashbourne this week but try again when back on Monday.

Used to have PAT testers who basically went round sticking labels on things because they charged per item so anything and everything got 'tested'. We soon got rid of them.

Yes I’ve seen this too so disabled the gpo temporarily. The school is closed with only a few admin staff in so I ran a manual update on those machines. I’m sure there will be a another update released before the school opens so not too worried about missing this one.

[ms office - 2019] Office 2019 Updates Location

Yes you are correct, there are still references to the old UNC path in the registry. Shame, I thought it was too easy. -
[ms office - 2019] Office 2019 Updates Location
Jobos replied to _techie_'s topic in Office Software
I'm in the middle of upgrading from Office 2016 to 2019 and originally set the config file to update from a local UNC path, but now after reading it's easier to update from CDN I added a GP policy to set the update path to blank in 'Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office 2016 (Machine)\ Updates' which as I understand force updates from CDN but no updates are coming through and clicking update now in Word gives the 'Something went wrong' error. Where have I gone wrong? -
Yes please name and shame as we are getting two trolley loads of iPads in September and want to avoid that supplier.

Some months back we received a small number of iPads from the DfE but as we loaned out our laptops first the iPads never got used and got left in the boxes. The plan is to buy more iPads to make a class set and start using them for teaching. We have got Apple School Manger setup but not added any devices yet and we have a trial of Moslye. How do we get the DfE iPads transferred to us so we can add them into Apple School Manger? What is the process to get an Apple organization ID or is that not required at this stage?

Spent a while on this today and added the IPs of the 2 NVR we have to GP to force IE mode but strangely only one of the NVR is working in IE mode with the other one still asking to install the plugin.

Has anyone managed to use Edge with Hikvision NVR?
-
We have Paxton and Inventry but they are not linked. Would using the Paxton card to open the door sign in the user in Inventry? Would you mind sharing how you linked them please?
-
Yes and into different switches.

Yes I swapped the PC and patch cables as the first test to rule them out but @steveg was spot on with his guess that the work was done by an electrician. I've got the electricians coming back this afternoon to take a look but I'm not holding my breath that they will being the correct tester.
