  1. Sounds like the DSE assessment is needed and action taken, be it blinds on the window, window film or moving the desk. I went on the DSE assessment course some years ago when it was a big thing but these days DSE is largely forgotten about.
  2. It's all cloud but I'm halfway there fixing it as the problem seems to be with the address book. When selecting the from address the email sends correctly when selecting the from address using the global address list instead of the offline global address list. The info address was hidden that might be the reason for the error, so I've made the address visible, now just need to wait for the offline address list to refresh and test again.
  3. We have a shared mailbox that the admin team use using an address like [email protected] We wish to send email using this address so the senders address is not revealed but on testing sending email internally works ok but externally gives an error. Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.SendAsDeniedException: Can't transport send message. ---> Microsoft.Mapi.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied: MapiExceptionSendAsDenied: Unable to transport send message. (hr=0x80070005, ec=1244) The user has permissions on the shared mailbox, read and manage, send as Is there something I've overlooked? Thanks.
  4. Thanks. I found the bit about skipping the ID and managed to reset the iPad and it joined Mosyle successfully this time. Talk about wasted hours, I'll know better next time.
  5. The other iPads are running 10.3.1 but I've not got past the setup screens on this one so no idea what it's running.
  6. Yes that is what I remember how it works. Just got the Macbook out and it's running 10.4.11 so will not run configurator 2. If I choose 'Don't transfer apps and data' and setup the iPad with an Apple ID can I still reset the iPad and (hopefully) join it to the MDM? I did hear and maybe I didn't fully understand that once an iPad has been used with an Apple ID it cannot then be joined to an MDM.
  7. After I choose Don't transfer apps & data I get this I'm going to dig out an Macbook and try and use apple configurator 2. No groups and any new devices start off in limbo. I would love the paid support but we have 87 iPads so the costs add up.
  8. I'm holding down the home and on/off until the Apple logo appears. That seems to reset it as I need to enter the wifi password again. I've done this a few times now but still the same.
  9. Thanks for the advice so far. Yes there is a pre-stage assigned area. Mosyle syncs the MDM device list from Apple and Mosyle has it listed. Everything looks as it should. Push cert is ok but as we are on the free version of Mosyle there is no support. I can't see the option of skipping this bit. So all in all I'm stumped. The other iPads were easy to add to Mosyle but this one not so.
  10. We had a faulty iPad still under warranty so Apple replaced it and added it to our DPD account. In ASM I can see it has been added to Mosyle as the MDM but when setting up the iPad it is not connecting to Mosyle. I get to the point of connecting the wifi then the iPad is asking how I want to transfer apps and data. If I remember correctly when setting up the other ipads after connecting the wifi Mosyle jumped in from that point. Any ideas? Thanks.
  11. Thanks everyone, I'll give Apple a try and failing that Jigsaw24.
  12. At the beginning of the year we bought 32 iPads but now 1 is faulty with coloured lines flashing across the screen. As the iPad is under warranty who is responsible for the repair? I've contacted the supplier who told me to contact Apple so entering the details into the Apple repair site and it appears we have to take the iPad to the center for repair. Is that the way it works as I thought the supplier was responsible and they collect or at the very least we use a courier and they sent it back? I'm getting the feeling the supplier is fobbing me off for a easy life!
  13. Flicking through the news tonight I found this article you might find interesting https://www.newscientist.com/article/2306132-vitamin-d-supplements-really-do-reduce-risk-of-autoimmune-disease
  14. I would love to use original toners but they just cost too much. In the past we have use Practices Supplies for the toner and we had the odd bad compatible but I just email them and a replacement arrives the next day. They also replace the printer if their toners damage the machine. Practices Supplies sell compatible cartridges for £175 or remanufactured originals £295. New would cost £358 or go super cheap and buy these £30.75 for the set! https://www.amazon.co.uk/VICTORSTAR-Compatible-Cartridge-Magenta-WorkCentre/dp/B074DTTBRZ
  15. Does anyone use a Xerox Phaser 6510 Printer as we are looking at fitting one in the suite. Would you recommend it? We just need a low use colour printer that can take compatible toner cartridges and don't want to get tied down with leasing. Thanks.
  16. I'm in the process of adding more iPads to Mosyle that will be given out to staff. These iPads will have less restrictions than the other iPads that pupils use. For the pupil iPads I've added them to locations to have polices applied like block apps etc and it works well but I've noticed when adding new iPads such polices apply before I add them to the trolley locations when I thought the policy would only apply once the iPad has been moved to that location. The polices are set to apply to all current and future devices from specific locations and next to select locations the trolley location has been set. When I add a new iPad it starts off as in limbo but shows a number of polices that have already been applied. I must be missing something but I can't see it?
  17. Very true.
  18. I’ll run it by the HT but I’m sure he will object to the annual fee of having them on the MDM. However that said I like the idea of having the some control over the iPads and I know in the long run it will be better.
  19. Makes sense. Thanks.
  20. The HT wants them standalone so staff can use them as personal devices.
  21. We currently use Mosyle MDM for classroom iPads but now we are getting more ipads, some for staff and the some for classroom use. The staff iPads will be standalone i.e. not managed by Mosyle but who knows at a later date they might be so my question is could I get the staff iPads added to Apple School Manager via DEP but not add them to Mosyle yet then if needs be add them to Mosyle and start managing them? I understand that if an iPad is used as standalone I need a Mac to add them to Mosyle but as we don't have a Mac I thought I would ask here to save any problems in the future. Thanks.
  22. Took a minute for the penny to drop but very good though.
  23. Info about the command here https://community.sophos.com/sophos-xg-firewall/f/discussions/112066/sophos-connect-vpn-vs-voip
  24. Thanks, just add the GarageBand and it's started to install.
  25. Update: Finally got to the bottom of why the handsets were dropping connections and it turned out to the Sophos XG. It seems when teachers connected or disconnected using their IPSec VPN it caused the XG some sort reset and was enough to drop the phones. Most of the time it was in the evening but some teachers work at home in their PPA time and this was more noticeable. After I pointed it out to Wave9 they fixed it within minutes and it's been ok since.
