I would strongly recommend the hosted version; I used to manage a local version - and from install to support, it was a bit of a pain. All sorts of quirks! The apparent savings of going local disappear when you take support into it...

Likewise...my daily work machine is 8.1, my home machine is too - and just upgraded a load of other people recently. Im using the StartW8 mod - which gives a Start experience very similar to what W9 will give!

You could leave her there, and create a new GPO with the settings you need at the pupils OU level. Create an AD Group - "Students - Visual Settings Override" or something, and add her to it. Then, as above, remove Authenticated users from the Security Filtering, and add the name of your new group. That will stop you having to move the user around - and if you need to use I again, or have other students in other year groups in future...its easier...

I do remember seeing a few cases last year where exporter was getting in a proper tangle. Is anything else also using your exporter instance...eg MLS, GCSEPod etc -
I might well pop up onto Dartmoor to watch them whizz by tomorrow too...

That should be fine...had to do the same thing last year with a secondary and primary attached. The only thing that wont like that is document server. You need two instances (from what I was told by Capita)
