  2. Damn you @vikpaw will you top stealing my thunder :-p
  3. Do exactly the same here...works well - apart from staff who are adament that they are typing the right password and "it locks them out"....
  4. Ok, so after some testing...here is what Im doing... Script... ===================== if exist "U:\My Settings\Signatures\logo.jpg" goto Done rmdir /s /q %userprofile%\appdata\roaming\microsoft\signatures pause mklink /D %userprofile%\appdata\roaming\microsoft\signatures "U:\My Settings\Signatures" :Done =============== This will delete the folder from the local appdata folder, and replace it with a symbolic link to the U:\ folder location. It will require a GPO to create the folders. The "if exist" is used to see if the signature has already been set in the new location, if not, assume that this hasnt run yet - as the signature setting is called straight away after this script...
  5. Timing, as looking at doing this too. Just put all our students on mandatory - the hold up on staff is things like this, and other "finiky" software which I need to bundle the settings for (PSF - pointing the finger at you here!)
  6. So, AQA have also started using the SecureAssess platform - and initially, I thought GREAT as EdExcel also use it and it works fine (apart from being a wierd installer which puts it at c:\users\public - no matter where you specify)... But no...this one has a "Local" version, which needs a local server install and local client again. Fine...server installs ok. Client, same silliness as above (at least they ammend the paths to tag the exam board on!)... but it keeps having issues with Proxy. Its set in its xml to our TMG proxy, with authentication details but nope! For the love of god!! Anyone got it running and give any pointers?
  7. Good shout, will be stealing this for my place too who asked the same question today....
  8. Got 140 of these and very happy. SSD version too
  9. It will be a feature of SLG once on full release; much like the Data Collection bit is a feature - and was developed after the original SLG scoping (and looks completely different). The homework tie-in (and future Assessment Manager/Curriculum Structure) parts are much the same too. There is a technical tie in between the way in which SLG currently works, and the way the Apps will work - thats why you cant have one without the other. It needs the web services to communicate with. Im expecting, certainly from discussions Ive had, that there will eventually be a consolidated Web Service - which will take in the InTouch stuff (which still used the horrid VPN - that is going very soon).
  10. I have had a lot of discussions about the SIMS App (range - can I call it that yet @PhilNeal?) and the SLG tie in... So, here is the deal. Yes - SLG is required, but it would be better to think of it as you have SLG, and are getting the Apps included FOC. They will, in time be one product bundle of Parental Engagement - as SIMS becomes more truely modular and role-based in future. Yes, the product is not fully ready yet, and that has a lot to do with making sure it is right and has the functionality being asked for at user groups. You dont say whether SLG is being hosted by the school or by Capita - who can and do host. Many of the SLG implementations I see where there are complaints are surrounding the Sharepoint engine underneath rather than SLG itself. Now - dont get me wrong - there are actual parts of SLG which are just plain horrid - but it has improved significantly over recent releases; with much more customer (ie parent) focused UI elements rather than "boxy" tables. What you have to remember is that this product was about meeting a specific agenda - and many using it dont use it even for that now. I see many using it with staff on site as a "Sims-Lite". I would strongly suggest getting in touch with the account managers and clarifying exactly what you have bought, and then we can have a proper discussion about it and ways forwards rather than product bash.
  11. Went with the same "mount a tv panel" option...the IWB options are not missed much. Tends to be used to display powerpoints or YouTube clips...

  16. NEC UM280 here...got 6 of them here in open "breakout areas" where having a column mount would look wrong
  17. Sounds like this, as it is fulfilling the edge role, it is also your mx in the exchange outgoing mail. I also have tmg, but not using the edge role, so my outgoing mail points to the mx record at our isp. Is it outgoing, incoming or both affected? Incoming will need a rule on sw to forward smtp to your exchange as this will be at an external IP on your tmg at the mo, which im expecting has a rule to forward to a server ip.
  18. Cheers @vikpaw...beat me to it!
  19. Yay! Finally...i know it has been a work in progress for ages!
