About Rod

  1. I sorted out my problem with help from the netsupport technical support. It turned out that I had the remnants of a previous installation on my computers and it was confusing the GPO installation. Creating a new GPO from scratch solved the problem. Cheers, Rod
  2. hi, I have an existing cohort of ~100 laptops running Windows 7. I have been asked to encrypt the drives. Anybody got experience of deploying Bitlocker or similar. P.S. The machines do have TPM.
  3. A colleague has just presented me with an android phone which can't connect to the exchange server in school, but works fine at home. The fact that it connects ok from outside telsl me that his mail set up is fine. The fact that it doesn't work inside suggests that it is a proxy settings problem. for other devices (IOS) I use a proxy.pac to set things up. I'm told that android doesn't support that. What do I do folks! Any help appreciated.
  4. We used to have net support installed on our laptops. My predecessor removed it. I'm now being asked to put it back. I believe that I can deploy it using GPO and specify a "room" and do this differently for laptops in different GPO's. Does anybody have experience of this, deploying it, managing it, issues arising etc? Cheers
  5. I have been asked to encrypt data on our teachers laptops. Research so far suggest that the easiest way to go with this is to use the built in encryption and just turn it on in the sync centre. I have also found information on a gpo setting to turn this on. All seems a bit too easy ... which makes we nervous.. Am I missing something important...? Rod.
