Best tablet for our caretaker
aerospacemango replied to hardtailstar's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Buy Archos 80 Cobalt Tablet (8”, 8GB, wifi) from our Tablet PCs range - Tesco.com Here's a bit of a left-field suggestion.... Will take a micro-SD up to 64Gb....Has front and rear cameras...Bought 3 for our kids at Christmas* (8,14 &16) and they love them. Running ICS...haven't seen a JB update, and doubt they'll get it as the Titanium series has just come out. *They were a last minute thought....We picked them up on Christmas Eve for the princely sum of £49.50.... 50% off....bargain of the year! -
@plexer I tried both the Origin and the Superstition.... Origin was my favourite, as it had a slightly sweeter flavour, whereas the Superstition I found to be a little harsh. I DID enjoy them both though!

Not if you're pouring yourself one..... Thus, being out tonight and playing pool necessitates a small (pub) shot , as opposed to the bigger shot that I would pour for myself!
-
Read a few of those....something must've rubbed off on me! Back to the topic....NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! May have to have a little shot tonight in rememberance of good drink wasted!
-
"Aye...com on ya wee beastie...ya jes a wee cattie...I ken take yous any day o the week" *Apologies to our scottish geekers for a very poor attempt at the written dialect!!

Since Christmas I've had a couple of different bottles of the fine stuff.... Jura, Chivas, Laphroiag...All taken in moderation, of course! Can you tell I'm a single malt type of guy?? LOL!
-
I cried a little when I read this....and not tears of joy! To think....all those litres of Chivas going down the drain.... There are no words

Beef/Horse meat & DNA testing non-meat products?
aerospacemango replied to Rawns's topic in General Chat
Ever since this story broke, there have been a proliferation of signs outside farm shops/butchers, etc, saying "100% Beek, NO Horse meat here"! I find this rather amusing. I do agree that it's hardly the worst thing that could happen. The drugs entering the food chain are the biggest threat....but even then it is probably* negligable. This is true. We laugh at the Korean dog kebabs, and yet it is perfectly natural to that culture. As for rabbit....skinned and cooked one in the scouts (many, many years ago!) and I enjoyed it. I would eat practically anything....as long as it wasn't an insect! *That's my best guess, based on the info I've read. Sent from someone who does cook stuff from scratch and rarely has a processed meal! -
There you go....I've fixed that Americanism for you

My son has this on his tablet.... He is 8 and was asking how you get more donuts. I sat him down and explained that though you might get some in-game, they really wanted you to buy them. I then took him through the steps, and showed him the cost. Then I explained about how you need a credit card linked, and that there was no chance of that happening. I went on to tell the story of the woman who left her son in charge of an iDevice for an hour and he ran up a £1000 bill. My son's eyes went very wide, at this point, and he said "I don't want extra donuts, Dad"! Teach them young, teach them early! *EDIT* Story just popped up showing Apple to refund parents??? http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/50119/apple-app-refund-purchases

I've saved the last episode for tonightt... After the violence of the first episode, it was always going to be difficult to sustain the strength. But that violence was there to show the gravity of those involved. I found the implied violence (walking into the garage with the bottle of gas, and closing the door behind him/walking towards Stephen Rea with the rope) much worse than the "real" violence. Cannot wait to see the last episode! PLEASE....No one come on here and give it away!!!!

New Xbox requires an always-on connection to block used games
aerospacemango replied to Arthur's topic in Gaming
What's that sound in the distance? Reckon it could be the death knell for console gaming.... Does anyone think any of this is a good idea? Kill the 2nd-hand market...kill the console. My stepson would no longer be able to trade in games for the newest release. He'd have to wait for Xmas and birthdays, and I don't think teenagers are built with patience pre-installed. That's more of an early-20's download! -
No....that's not the case at all. People who are seriously rich don't give a XXXX what others think. The statement is in the shineyness of it. The technical gubbins does not matter to them. You rarely see someone who is THAT wealthy sitting around updating twitter, or posting to facebook. They have more "important" things to do.....Like make more money! My 2penneth, having worked in Mayfair casinos in a former life!

I hear that the Chinese McDonalds has been drawn into the fake meat scandal.... Turns out they've been serving Quarter Pandas'.....

New Xbox requires an always-on connection to block used games
aerospacemango replied to Arthur's topic in Gaming
Won't somebody think of the children? Just thought I'd pop that in there! I've also been lurking and agree with all the anti-DRM "whining". I rarely play the xbox, now that it's in the stepson's room, but should he want a 720 in the future, and it ALWAYS needs a connection to play games, where does that leave internet child security? At the moment, he has a small window of opportunity to play online (6.30-9-30pm), after that the router switches his web feed off, and although he CAN play offline, he chooses not to. This was implemented to get him to do homework, etc, etc. Now, it seems that this will be stymied by Microsoft wanting it to be always on. This would be unacceptable to me, as a parent, as it takes away a level of control. -
Thumbs up from me for that too.... Works well enough for me!
