[android] Samsung Galaxy S4
aerospacemango replied to aerospacemango's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Who do you trust? Last week, I had a right pain in the rear when I couldn't change the delivery address with O2. What a 'mare they are! Anyway, after cancelling my order, and re-doing the pre-order for the new delivery address everything seems set fair for a friday delivery at work. Now....Here's the thing.... I read on Techradar, the other day, that Samsung have told them that the delivery will slip back to the Saturday, as they want to release simultaneously around the world....This would give me a problem as I would then have to change delivery address AGAIN! However, when I contacted O2 on twitter, they assured me that there are no plans to change the delivery date for their phones..... So, the question is....Who would YOU believe? (If O2 feck this up, I am gonna be very unhappy with them!!) -
BBC Monitoring reports that a man named Anzor, who said he was Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's father, told Russia's Interfax news agency his children were framed. "The special services framed my children because they are believing Muslims," he was quoted as saying. "Why did they kill Tamerlan? They should have taken him alive. The younger one is now on the run; he was studying in his second year at a medical institute in the US. We were expecting him home in the holidays. Now I don't know what will happen." Let's be honest...He WOULD say that. Any parent would say that about their children, as I cannot believe anyone could see their child as a terrorist/monster/murderer etc.

Is that it? Your review? No plot spoilers? No word on CGI? No classic diatribe on the acting skills of Cruise? I'm pretty sure I'm not alone when I ask for a proper review and not this slipshod, half-hearted, nonsense above!!

And I wonder why so many people brick their devices!
aerospacemango replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
This could never happen, in reality, in my opinion. There HAS to be a level for anyone to start at, and although I consider myself to be fairly intelligent, and can follow instructions pretty well, there's always the thought of bricking a device in the background. Once you start locking people out of forums, they'll never learn and the pool of people willing to help others gets smaller and smaller. On the Galaxy S forum, on XDA, I have helped out a few people with advice...I am NOT a developer, but what I have learnt over the years means that I can take some of the pressure off the developer, and help those who are just coming in to flashing. People will ALWAYS find a way to brick their phones....It's up to the rest of us to help them out! -

I've never had a problem with coverage with O2, and so I was a bit worried about going to 3 because I'm sure that their coverage is a bit less than O2. Really happy that O2 have done this though....Now can't wait for next friday (26th) and getting it delivered to work. Hope to make my iShiney friends a little bit jealous!!!! -

That's pretty poor, mac... Maybe it was the person you got on the day? My wife will be trying the same tactic in about 2 months time! -

Yes...VAT included. I just phoned 202 from my current phone, and started chatting. Said that I wanted to buy out my contract to go to 3, and the bloke was most insistent that I listened to what he had to say first! I kinda thought that that would happen anyway....so it WAS just a leverage tactic, but I think I did make it seem as if I was genuinely leaving at THAT moment. I never play my hand before I have to, in these situations. I always tell them that the offer I've had probably won't get matched, so I'm offski...Never ask them to match the quote! He did say that LOADS of people were phoning with that same 3 deal, so that's why he was ready to sort it straight away! -
Morning all, Over the weekend I saw a pretty good deal at 3 for this phone, and as I'm just 10 days away from an upgrade I thought I would find out more. Turns out it's £35pm on Pre-order, with no up-front cost. Sounds like a decent price, so agreed to go in and pre-order. Phoned O2 to let them know that I would be leaving and hey presto, they match the deal. Phone arrives on 26th!

@sparkeh Agreed....I'm not saying that anything you say is wrong....I'm just relaying my experience, and how I thought it best to confront the situation. It is certainly NOT right that developers can get away with this practice, and until they are pulled up on it, they will continue. However, it is still the parental responsibility to keep an eye on what your kids are doing (IMO again!)

I know I'll sound like an old PM for this, but........ Education, education, education! With The Simpsons: Tapped Out, my 8 year old wanted to get something fairly big, straight away. I told him to try to get the donuts. He went through the process until it came to time to pay. The bill was around $30. I explained to him that every time he wanted to spend more donuts than he has, it would cost REAL money, and that that money would come out of my pocket. This would leave less money for going out on "real world" trips (i.e cinema). My son took this quite well. (Especially as he lives with his Mum) I then explained about the young lad that had run up £1500 on an iPad, and how his mummy couldn't afford to pay that. I explained it was the Mummy's fault (IMO) that this had happened and that I would not allow it to happen. Job done. Lad knows what he CAN and can't have!

BBC News - Hacker targets flight deck computer systems Ridiculously alarmist headline for what is, essentially, a bloke finding a loophole. Should we be that alarmed?

Am i the only one who thinks that a "pastoral manager" might want to change the photo on the petition? I know that @Sdrawkcab made reference to it earlier, but that is clearly an unsuitable picture. -

In that slightly sad way of the slightly older gentleman.... I loved this as it was the closest you could get to having a Star Trek communicator in your pocket!
