I am just about to sell my T4 as we will soon be having baby number 3. I have tried to work out a way of fitting us all in but unfortunately the VW will have to go. She is a 2.4d and very cheap to run and maintain. Insurance is the same as our ford focus and petrol prices not that different from the car. I have had her for 4 years and only needed to replace the fan belt (Touch wood). The T4 do not look as iconic as the original but everyone still flashes and waves at us and they drive like a car and do not need loads of money to keep them on the road.

My Netgear hub has both 2.4 and 5ghz enabled. If a device works with 5ghz it gets listed as a wireless sid-5ghz if the device does not work with this it does not get listed.

You can also get that error if the sims.ini file on the c/windows drive is pointing to \\server\sims$ when it is better to point at S:\Sims (edit) Reinstalling using the sims installer files may have just changes the Sims.ini file.

When I installed Sims on to our remote desktop server I needed to run the installer after clicking 'control panel / add remove programs / install remote apps'. This installed the software in a multi user environment. What should I do to install the Sims updates? Should I do the same as above ('control panel / add remove programs / install remote apps') and then run Sims which will kick off the updates? Should I just remote in as a Sims user and run Sims in the remote desktop session which I presume would also kick off the updates? How do you do it?

Sorry for the basic question but never used bare metal backup. When selecting bare metal backup, system state automatically gets ticked. Am I able to restore just the system state from this bare metal backup without doing a bare metal restore or do I need to do a separate system state backup?

If lots more people choose to become teachers then schools could pick the best from a large pool, so yes wages might go down but teaching quality would go up but then if wages went down less people would choose to teach......

If I do a bare metal backup and decide I do not want to restore using the bare metal restore, can I still access the system state and folder/files that have been created with the bare metal backup?

My wife took a massive pay cut to work as a teacher, She could only do this as I work also otherwise should would not have an option. As for skew children's values, what on Earth do you think schools are for if not preparing children to work and to provide for their families? , said by someone that probably does not have many friends that work in the city. Most of the people I know laugh at the wages our teachers get, these are the people that actually got the highest marks while in education and actually understand maths or computer coding etc all of which is needed in schools is it not.

Do you think longer days and less hols would be good for primary schools? My 5 year old is more than ready for a break by the time they come round. One thing and one thing only would get better results, Pay the teachers a decent wage, that way you would get intelligent people teaching our children and not have them going off to some bank in the city. The amount of people I know that opted not to do teaching at university because of the pay and went in to law or similar is a real shame as they would have made fantastic teachers.

Primary school backup question. We currently have off site backup which backs up system state and all the files, along with this I occasionally plug in a 1tb usb drive and run system state along with robocopy which copies any changed files over. With my USB drive would I be better of doing a full 'bare metal' backup? I was going to do this but have read that due to requiring the exact same hardware to restore a 'bare metal' backup it is better just to do system state and re-install the OS fresh. Any thoughts?

If any of your other primary schools are looking to get i-pads I would highly recommend pointing them towards LearnPad - The Tablet Computer Designed for Education . Although they are Android and not I-Pad based you have full network drives linking on to the server, all the software and themes are all curriculum based and you set them up and configure them from a website or with bar codes. Amazing bit of software. NB. No Flash issues

You have the same camera as me (40d). Did not read all the posts so sorry if you have gone over this but the most important item is the lens, its more important than the main unit. Spend as much as you can on good glass with one exception the nifty 50 which is a cheap as chips lens with no zoom but takes great shots. Doing this will improve your shots from snap snap look a-likes to top quality images.

I did get it all fixed and working at 5 different schools. Main issues when installing and using FMS on a remote desktop server are, 1. dll files. after installing fms copy the full c:program files/sims/fms folder from a working computer over the one installed on the remote desktop server. 2. more dll file issues. copy dll files from system32 and the 64bit folder from a working computer over the ones installed on the remote desktop server. look on these forums for exact dll files to copy. 3. Installing FMS on to a remote desktop server fms does not create correct user rights on the c drive folder and the c:program files/sims/fms. As a fudge/test both these locations needs to be full control for the fms user. If you do not want to give full control to the c drive search these forums for 'fms report error dbe' and it will explain how to move a file that gets created by the database on the c drive to another location. 4. On the remote desktop server install a school printer (can be network) and make this the default. then make the same printer the default from remote desktop session.
