  1. Just a quick heads up ... Aldi are doing cycling stuff .. clothes, lights etc etc this Sunday. EDIT: ... Ooops, make that Thursday (27th).
  2. Have you tried plugging one in directly to the core switch and seeing if that improves it. Have you checked the port speeds on your switches ... we fell foul of this, for some reason some of our network cards were setting the ports to be 10 meg.
  3. What happened 10 days ago to stop everything else building? Did you install a new driver pack or anything. Can you restore your build area from tape back to 11 days ago?
  4. Here's what we did to get round this. It's taken from something that was put in a Yorks grid forum (I think) ... Under guardian » policy objects » user defined, create a custom category called "iTunes Extra Sites" and added the following URLs: mzstatic.com pri.kts-af.net metrics.apple.com appldnld.apple.com securemetrics.apple.com apple.com Next, go to guardian » policy objects » category groups and create an "iTunes" group and tick Multimedia » iTunes [beta] and Custom Categories » iTunes Extra Sites and click Save. Next, go to guardian » web filter policies » manage policies and create the following Policy and move it to the number 1 spot: Everyone, iTunes (the category group you have just added), Everywhere, Always, Whitelist Next, under web proxy » authentication » exceptions, add the iTunes category group you created. Please Note: The above guide maybe completely invalid after a certain amount of time as Apple change the iTunes URL's regularly (which is why the iTunes category has never made it out of Beta stages).
  5. We went from CC3 to CC4, with W2008R2, everything virtualised plus CC4 Anywhere and haven't regretted it. The RMMC is a far superior product to that of CC3
  6. Have a look at Richer Sounds. They often have some good deals in their 'Sale' items.
  7. Nothing to do with me, I just came across this whilst browsing today ... ICT Network Manager Now then, doesn't @AXE come from this neck of the woods?
  8. I'm surprised there's been no-one in the school given that yesterday was results day. Try and find a copy of the staff handbook, that will tell you how much notice they will expect. However, like others have said, the fact that you are still on probabtion and haven't signed a contract probably means that a week would be adequate. On the other hand, the fact that you have been working there could be deemed as having accepted the terms and conditions of your employment which could stipulate a longer period. If it were me, I think I would write a letter of resignation, put a copy in the appropriate pigeon holes (Deputy head, personnel, NM) as well as an email copy to all of the relevant people, explaining your position and giving them a week's notice.
  9. We've known about the double insulated power supply fix for some time now, unfortunately, they are becoming more difficult to come by. It also cures the wavy line effect that we get on some projectors using earthed power supplies.
  10. I'm not a great lover of modern horror films, they don't really do anything for me. Some of the Hammer films were very good though along with the Omen films. I saw The Exorcist when it first came out and that was scary ... I was much younger then though. I don't find scenes in films scary, I do find some unpleasant or disturbing ... the dentist scene from Marathon Man and, more recently, some of the scenes in Sanctum (but then that's because I dive).
  11. You do realise that there's a blueprint for VLC, no need to make your own package ??
  12. Ok, so what happens if you try to import the package (File > Import > Package) then browse to the package ... it will want the ini file for a CC3 style package or the xml file for a CC4 style package, these can (generally) be found at RMManage\Packages\Applications
  13. Have you been building them using app wizard or via wininstall as a standalone product? If the latter, it may be that you need to import the packages into the RMMC (File > Import >Package)
  14. We have it installed on Virtual PC, they can drag their saved files to their N drive to ensure they are backed up and then drag them back to the virtual pc to work on them.
  15. If you don't have the Sky Sports package they are offering it free all weekend 6am Friday to midnight on Sunday, including F1 and the Test Match. Free weekend | Sky Sports

  16. I'm off diving off the Lundy coast. It would be nice if we didn't have to go from Ilfracombe to Lundy in a force 7 (again).
  17. Came across this on my travels today. Don't know anything about it but you'll need to get in quick as it closes tomorrow (Wed 18th) Network Manager | Sandringham School
  18. Paella, one pan, add some chicken in as well if you wish, just don't let it get too dry or it may catch. Delicious, serve with some garlic bread if you wish and a chilled white rioja. • 1 red pepper, finely diced • 1 medium onion, finely chopped • 2 cloves garlic, peeled • 400g paella rice • 125ml dry white wine • 1 tsp smoked paprika • Generous pinch of saffron threads • 1l hot vegetable stock • 12 large fresh mussels, well scrubbed, beards removed • 4 large prawns • 4 prepared squid, approx 170g in total, sliced into rings • Approx 280g monkfish fillet, roughly chopped • Handful flat leaf parsley, chopped • 1 lemon cut into wedges • Olive oil • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper Method: 1. Heat a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a large paella pan or frying pan. Add the onion and cook out briefly. 2. Add the chopped pepper and crush in the garlic. Season with a little salt and pepper and cook until softened. 3. Sprinkle the smoked paprika and saffron into the pan. Follow with the rice and stir well so that each grain of rice is well coated in oil. 4. Add the wine and allow to evaporate before pouring in the hot stock. 5. Cover with a lid and leave to simmer gently for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking. 6. Five minutes before the end of cooking add the mussels, prawns, squid and monkfish to the pan. Stir, and replace the lid to finish cooking. 7. Just before serving, mix through the chopped parsley and garnish with lemon wedges.

  21. Heads up ... there's a new blueprint now released on the RM website for version 11.3.300.257. Get it whilst it's still there.
  22. Ooops, major fault encountered in hand brain interface. This human will now shutdown.
  23. Having owned a few "classic" cars ... Mk4 Cortina, Rover SDI, Jag 4.2 XJ6, 3.5 V8 Range Rover, Land Rover Lightwieght (witha V6 Ford engine in it) etc etc. I now have a 99 Mondeo which has cruise control, MPG computer, Air Con, 10 stack auto changer, electric all sorts, does around 40 mpg an a run (35 going to work and back). I paid £300 for it from ebay in 2010. It's had a few consumables ... bits of exhaust, new discs, a new half shaft and has sailed through each of its MOTs. It might not be the flashiest or newest car in the car park but it gets me around with all my dive gear and owes me not one single penny.
  24. I occasionaly hit the submit button before I've actaully finis
