Does anyone have an msi of this version that they would be willing to share?
-
Finally...Found this answer: 1. Disable Offline Files (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Sync Center), click "manage offline files" then click disable. 2. Restart the computer 3. Delete the CSC folder (C:/Windows/CSC). NOTE: You may have to change the permissions on the CSC folder in order to do this, and once that is done, you need to delete all the folders within the CSC folder first (starting with the farthest in, and working your way out), because the system will not allow you to delete a folder that still has anything inside it. Once you have all the files within the CSC folder deleted, delete the CSC folder itself. 4. Enable offline files. 5. Restart the computer. The CSC folder -- with its default settings, etc., will now be rebuilt, and when right-clicking a network folder, the "Always available offline" option should appear. From this thread: "Always available offline" option and Offline Files tab dissapeared in folder options Worked!

I have a very frustrating issue with one of our teacher laptops, for which I can't find a fix anywhere: It's a brand new laptop, and the final thing I want to do after building it is to make the user's network share available offline. I have done this before on several other Windows 7 Pro machines on our network with no problems. However, when I try to enable offline files (from Sync Center, Manage Offline Files), I get the message 'Offline files is enabled but not active. Reboot to activate.' I have restarted multiple times, but the same message appears every time and the 'Make available offline' option does not appear when right-clicking the share I want to sync. I've tried disabling then re-enabling offline files. Same message appears. I've tried looking at GPO settings to check it's not turned off in there, which it isn't. I've changed a registry key which forces a rebuild of the sync database. No change. Has anyone got any clues as to where to look next?

Situation: Head has been logging into local account on her laptop, and now we want her to log into domain while in school to sync network data. What I did: Logged off her local account (W7LAP019\head), then connected to network and logged into her network profile (ADMIN\head). What happened: When I logged in on ADMIN\head, all looked fine, new desktop created as expected. I then tried to log into local account again to copy settings etc, only to find I could no longer access the local account - switching user to W7LAP019\head would not work - just got invalid username/password every time. Going back into ADMIN\head, I browse to C:\Users\ and see two accounts: Head and Head.ADMIN. Yet the C:\User\Head folders are all empty - like a newly-created user would be. What did I do wrong? Is it because the two accounts had the same username that the local account was reset? And more importantly - if the documents folder in this user was deleted, what's the chance of me finding it again using a deleted file recovery program?

CC4 alternative to RM Connector?
Serenastra replied to Serenastra's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Hmm, thanks, yes I could... I have never done this, as CC4 does it all for me for the networked PCs. I *think* I know how to create one, but as they don't log into a domain they'd have to be local. Is it possible to create one for Windows 7 Home, Vista and XP? (Yes we have a nasty mix of OS.) -
Hiya I contacted RM today, as I have finally got round to sorting out the logins for the standalone laptops that were assigned to teachers. We have a CC4 server and I would like to integrate the logins on the laptops with those on the network, mainly so that network drive mappings are mapped using their network credentials (and when the network password changes their drive mappings don't fail), but also so that they have a single login to use for both their laptops and the CC4 machines. RM pointed me to RM Connector, which seems to do some of what I want, in that the teachers will be able to access network resources using their CC4 login, but i) it's expensive and ii) it doesn't solve the single login problem as far as I can tell. Any advice on alternative ways to make this happen which might cost less and provide a single login? Or is the only way to install CC4 on the laptops, which we definitely can't afford? Many thanks

Flash Player Package on CC4
Serenastra replied to Serenastra's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Right, yes I can see the msi version on the download page, so I can just build a package from that and ignore the blueprint...seems like I could have saved myself some time if I had just done it myself instead of trying to use the RM blueprint. Thanks guys. -
I'd like to deploy Flash Player (showing as Flash Player 11.3.300.262 from the Adobe distribution page), but the latest package blueprint from RM is only for version 11.2.202.235. I can't find anywhere on Adobe's site to download this older version, so what are my options? Can I hand-build a package for the later version of Flash Player in the usual way? or, where can I download the older version so I can use the blueprint? What does everyone else do?

Short-throw projector in Hall?

The screen is 2.5m wide thanks for your help -
Hi Kai I was in exactly the same position when I started here last year - CC4 installed but no maintenance done for a year, printer settings dropping, login profiles screwing up etc etc. However, unlike you we DID have an RM support contract and as soon as I made a few calls to them it started to become clear what needed to be done. It took me 6 months of work to install all the updates, RM Virus Protect, WSUS, and many other missing components, but they did help every step of the way and now we have an completely up to date CC4 (on 2003) which runs very smoothly. I would recommend a complete and thorough review of hardware, software and budgets (including who will be doing the maintenance and if they have relevant skills) before deciding which way to go. And I wouldn't recommend sticking with CC4 without a support contract. I'm happy to try to answer any CC4 questions you have in the meantime.

We are looking to replace our ceiling-mounted hall projector and I'd be quite keen to go for a short-throw for the convenience of not having to get the scaffolding out when it needs maintenance. Has anyone got any experience of short-throw in this situation - is it up to the job, or suited only for small rooms/screens?
