I'm currently going back and forth with Microsoft. After initially examining the HAR file I submitted they've now asked me to submit some Microsoft Teams logs and these have been passed onto their engineering team. For some reason it's an "extremely busy" period for them at the minute in the US so not sure what the reason for that might be but I only get a reply back in the afternoon.

Morning all, Hopefully a simple question, but can you image at a secondary site with MECM if the master is offline? In my mind you should be able to but with initial testing we can't seem to be able to do it. Can anyone confirm that this is possible and are there some settings somewhere to configure what happens with your secondary site? Cheers, Jonny

Hi, Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. We've actually had the same problem when using the in browser version of Team's so I don't think it's related to the version that they are using on the machine. Typically I was assigned an agent in Washington DC so replies to my ticket have been at out of hours times. They've now transferred me to someone who starts work at 12noon which helps a little! They've asked me to capture a HAR file and send it back to them, they didn't actually say what to capture so I literally just went to portal.office.com, opened up Teams and then clicked onto the class. I've sent this back by a secure portal and it's currently being examined. Interestingly when I first logged the ticket, they said that numerous other schools had reported the same issue. Good morning all, Is anybody else experiencing a problem where users in Microsoft Teams have suddenly lost access to the Class Notebook tab in their class Teams? It looks like the One Note is still available and if I copy and paste the url from a working user and then try and access that url as the broken user, it opens up asolutetly fine. Nothing appears to have changed in terms of Teams permissions and at first Microsoft said lots of school had started to report it. Now i'm getting emails asking me to run packet captures at my end which either makes me think it's not a wider issue as first discussed or are they just using me to help them troubleshoot a bigger problem.. Just out of curiosity, was this from Dell direct and via a framework or from a reseller? We thought we had a good price but this blows ours out of the water!

We use iboss cloud web filtering across our MAT Agent based filtering for domain joined devices and school owned non domain joined devices which works both onsite and ofssite. Agent deployed to ipads and Chromebooks for filtering both onsite and offsite. DNS filtering for visitor wifi VPN to iboss for filtering BYOD devices.

Just had an IT escalation ticket through to me asking how to install this for a handful of teachers, so thanks for this.

I've done numerous Papercut server migrations and the advice that @MatthewL has given is spot on. I have found the Papercut documentation to be solid too.

I got that too but on the M100 package, which has moved to M125. It's now gone from 100Mbps to 132Mbps and doubled the upload from 10Mbps to 20Mbps

We've replaced the wifi now as we had literally hundreds of students passing through areas at certain times and overloading the access points, which caused them to grind to a halt but it's looking like 90% of their time on the wifi is actually just checking social media which doesn't surprise me. The other 10% is using a new app that we've recently launched which allows them to order their lunch. We have lots of hard wired clients on site so for work they tend to use those. With regards to MITM we don't have that in place, i've supported it before in a previous job and it caused headaches trying to get it working reliably. We're currently trialing DNS filtering on this vlan, restricting it to our cloud web filters DNS server but I know it's not the ideal solution. I need to read KCSIE again just to see if there's specific wording about what level of monitoring is required.

Good afternoon, We had some reports of slow BYOD wifi in our Post 16 college and after looking into it the problem, I discovered that it was actually the content that wasn't loading for social media apps that students have on their phone.The apps opened but then the web filter kicked in and did its job but as an end user the app just tries to connect and doesn't provide any kind of blocked page. As a result the students then reported slow wifi, turned off their wifi on their phone and used mobile data to access the social media. It's worth notice that controls are in place in the classroom and this is only in the social areas. It brought up the discussion in the office about what content should be allowed for students at post 16 age and should we even provide a BYOD wifi at all if the students are just going to use mobile data. I personally was of the opinion that Whatsapp is probably the only type of social media that I would like to allow but at present we block it for students. I thought it would be good to discuss it on here and get peoples thoughts and opinions on how they approach things. Is it better to allow access and monitor as much as we can for safeguarding purposes? What social media do you allow if any? Do we need to provide access to wifi for students who might be disadvantaged and not be able to afford mobile data? How do you filter your BYOD wifi? Any thoughts, opinions or even links to similiar posts are welcomed! Cheers, Jonny

The one thing I would add is that the wait time at the minute for Aruba is long (at least on our latest quote). The switches we are looking at are on a 24 week lead time.

If so, we don't write back data into SIMS from Classcharts for attendance. We do use Wonde and Class charts for other things though but I believe it's only exports.

Had an issue at one of our sites the other day where the licensing service was running but after stopping and starting it again, everything worked. very frustrating.

Not sure if this is linked but we have a number of Academies who are experiencing performance issues with their SIMS servers currently. We've had this response from ESS: Good afternoon All, We are investigating a number of reports of deadlock errors at this time. May I ask anyone experiencing this to ensure that a case has been logged with the following information please. What process is being attempted when the error occurs Time of day Which school is impacted Whether the school is hosted by anyone i.e. ESS, yourselves or another third party. Many thanks This looks like it may have been since the 2021 Autumn upgrade. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

We've got a few last remaining 2012R2 DC's at one of our sites, we've removed KB5009624 but are struggling to remove KB5009595 using the Wusa command. Anyone else had this issue? Error reads: Installer encountered an error: 0x800f0831

Has it been pulled yet, there's no way that this will happen on every single 2019 DC so it must be in conjunction with something else that causes it to happen surely?
