Right, although the Beta worked after I removed the proxy from Chrome GPO I found to my horror when I had a class in the suite that random PC's did not get the Internet! ( my fault should have tested more before deploying!). Anyway, eventually figured out it was AB Tutor when I checked the Proxy settings and they had been set to a local 127.0 etc IP with a port 4999 or something similar ( brain fade). Changed GPO settings back to original, redeployed previous version of AB Tutor, removed web filter AB policy and gpupdate and a shutdown and restart seemed to eventually cure it. Phew! However now got no school based web filter ( still got LA filtering). AB was handy as I could apply it to particular PC's.

Installed the Beta and it works so long as you don't have the proxy set in a GPO for Chrome, we did but once I removed it and let Chrome take the system settings (apparently AB Tutor sets Chrome to use a system proxy and having it set via GPO upsets it) it worked and blocked the sites in our block list, happy bunny now.

You mean there are other reasons for going! 😱😱😱😱

Word back is that it is to do with how Chrome picks up the proxy and a fix is on its way, In Beta test at the moment so will let you know.

Thanks! Waiting for their reply. That's not exactly a solution at all as what if we only used Chrome, as it is I put Chrome on because we had problems getting IE10/11 working to pick up our proxy settings (still on 2008 server) we needed it for certain websites due to the content.

We have filtering of websites done by our LA but just for a few sites so we can allow certain ones for teachers but not for pupils we have used the Website blocking facility of AB Tutor. Worked well until....found out that a site blocked under IE is not blocked when accessed using Google Chrome! Anyone had this and is there a fix?

Ah yes, I had one of the kids tell me how to do this! Go to the terrain paint brush and select the icon at the side that allows you to select different terrain colours I.e. Orange etc, now when those are showing, press the down arrow and a new set will appear, looking like smooth hills etc. select one then paint the flat terrain. Now when you use the tool to raise the terrain they will appear as smooth hills not blocky outcrops. Easy when you are told by a 10 year old! I'm actually quite glad I have him in one of my classes 😄

We have just had to provide a laptop for a pupil and before we let it go, was wondering if anyone would like to share their documentation they get the parents/pupils to sign before they take ownership. The pupil will eventually keep the laptop. Does anyone letting pupils have laptops monitor what the pupils do with them away from school and if so how?

Not so long ago we had a thread about what old equipment wast turning up at our doors, I am looking to get a selection of storage items for my pupils to see how information was and is stored. Looked on eBay and there are just silly prices being asked for simple things so if anyone has any 5.25" floppy disks, computer ticker tape, ZIP disks, data cards (like a postcard but with holes punched in), even 8" disks (I know this last one is asking a bit) I would be extremely grateful and quite happy to pay postage. I am kicking myself as I used to have a lot of this from when I did computing way back when at school and of course never thought I would need it again!

Got it sorted, installed latest version and it now works as it should.

Have installed Kodu and it saves files OK but if I export that file from Kudo and then double click it to load it, it goes through a Kodu install dialogue and eventually asks me to insert the Kodu Game Lab disk (not got as I installed from msi). Why is it doing this and anyone solved it?

Would be interested if anyone had a couple 5.25" (used to have stacks) to give away, would like to use them to show the kids development of storage, some of my primary have never seem 3.5" disks. I remember them and right back to punched tape (wouldnt mind some of that as well!) but I am 'a bit' older!

Yes can do hdmi but was just wondering about a solution where laptop does not need a cable to connect, at moment lucky desk is nearby.

Bought daughter a new laptop for christmas and it has hdmi out (just used vga before) to connect to her TV so she can watch DVD's, the qeb etc on her TV, is there a better way to connect her laptop to the TV (which is not internet enabled or have any usb connections) via wifi etc instead of having them linked with a cable for audio and video? Just thinking, Chromecast any use for what she wants, downsides? And would it handle DVD's?

Eeek, been using the MyFitnessPal app mentioned on here and I'm on 1500 cals a day, not that bad to achieve but you got to watch out for things like that which is a good point. Lost 8lbs so far in a month just watching portion size mainly and not changing what I eat hardly at all. Logging it all makes you more aware of what you absentmidedly eat. Easy at moment as off work with a bike accident and can only have mushed up food so thats greatly helping to stop snacks etc!

Thanks, as they may be wantong a class set, looks like I will have to create a few accounts and do them in batches of 5 or could I have them all on one account and just manually copy the book to all the Kindles? (with you having that many I know that would not be practical for you but we will only have about 25).
