Had that before and it was that they could not get it from a redirected my documents but if they went via a mapped home drive it worked perfectly. Never found out why, staff just learnt to use the mapped drive with it (was on XP). Not much of a help I know, works fine now we have mo ed to w7 though!

Video editing software suggestions?
TechSupp replied to TechSupp's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Not too fussed about it being free (unusual for me!) and not bothered about a volume license as its only going on one PC. Will have a look at Adobe but that may come at too high a price I think even for a single PC. Been given £500 but that has to cover video camera, and extras as well as the software. -
We are looking out for so a PC based video editing package and wondered if anyone had any suggestions. Have only used MovieMake and Corel Video Studio so looking for possible alternatives. The teacher normally uses his own Mac and the software on it but we need one for use in school whichis PC based.

Just an update, so far user accounts have been set on the printer and can't get the 2008 driver to pick them up, however if I set up the user IDs on the driver admin section on the server it works! 2003 drivers work fine other way around. So far it seems to work, however in the user account section there are options to export the users and also import users, import and export of same file works but dont like me think that exporting a file and manually adding the users to it to make user entry quicker works...it doesn't it just complains of wrong file type. Compared edited and unedited files and can't see any difference. Just ended up entering them all manually. Downside is that users can see the ids and codes if they go to printer properties. Can I set the properties somehow so that users can delete jobs but not able to open up the printer properties?

Oh no! Did I see the game of life on that bed? Got one last year...wish I hadn't, not the most exciting of games.

We had this problem with office 2003 and I hoped it would go away but a change to 2010 has made no difference. If a pupil opens up a publisher document in their own folder it opens up other publisher docments in other peoples folders (ones that other pupils have open to work on). If all the class are using publisher this causes some problems. Office is installed locally but they all log on under the same name. We have redirected desktop, start menu and documents so I presume its because it somehow knows which documents are already open. Its only Publisher that does this, Word, Powerpoint, excel all work correctly and only open the document requested.

Made me smile!

I would get the small hand held ones from TTS, like a small web cam. Tried one the other week and was really impressed at the magnification. Best thing is on W7 no drivers to load and software to view can be placed on the server and just shared out with a link as its an executable and no install required. Just as it should be

Does anyone know if such a cable exists? We need to connect a DVD player up in the hall and it has only a HDMI output but we need it to use HDMI to the projector but split off the audio to phono connectors to connect into the hall sound system.

Yes thats what I had to do but most of the laptops we get now are 64bit and that would mean having to reinstall them 32bit to enable them to print wouldnt it? Just talked to Kyocera and they confirm the KX ones are the only ones we can use as they include the accounting facility. Going to use their driver removal utility and try again with the latest just in case it was a left over from an older version driver causing the issue with the new driver I tried.

Having issues with our Kyocera printer drivers on 2008 R2 server and seen that there are two types, the KX (which I installed) but also the KPDL drivers. Whats the difference and would I gain anything by changing to the KPDL i.e. likely solve any issues (which is mainly that it will not keep or recognise that I have told it to do user accounting i.e.user has to enter a code before print job is sent. Think Kyocera may be getting a visit at BETT

Has anyone come across this, we have a Kyocera 250ci KX copier/printer and have downloaded the correct drivers, if installed on out 2003 32bit server the job accounting setting works and users have to enter a set code to print however if we install on our 2008 R2 server 64bit it wil not keep the setting and we get failed prints. Checking the settings on the client show no job accounting settings are set. Driving me mad as we really do need to get 64bit printing done for some of the new staff laptops. What's the difference between the KX driver and the Universal drivers?

Still on XP at one of my primaries and it's as usual down to cost. This summer we should be doing a total change to W7 and Office 2010. Wanted to change all rather than bit by bit so waited a bit longer to change over. It always seems toncause staff problems if theybhave to deal with two different OS which we had when going from 98 to XP which was done bit by bit. Office is a mix of XP and W7 but LA deal with all that.

Anyone know if there will be anywhere to store bags/coats etc like before. Looked at the map but don't see anything.

Didn't Brian May use a sixpence as a pick? Sure I remember this from years ago...but then again -
Hi, just to start the New Year of well, does anyone know of a good company that will replace the glass screen of an iPad2 but will accept a school purchase order as payment or even a cheque.
-
Thanks to all, now sorted out via fleabay although had a good offer from one on here.

IOS6 would be fine so long as its 5 or over its ok. Did consider a 2 but price is too much for what I want to use it for

Not having a camera does not bother me as I use my phone for that and believe me no one would want to see my face on their tablet or PC screen via video!

Has anyone got an iPad 1 they want to sell. Only needs to be an Ipad 1 as I just need it to run an app with IOS5 at least and my iPod 2 wll only go up to 4 so thought might as well change to an iPad at the same time but trying to keep the cost down. Looking on fleabay at moment though.
