Why do Cashless Catering companies charge so much?

Have you seen the security on the NRS system? All the tills use the same VNC password, local windows password, till password, and the revalulation units have open webpages with no security, the tills are running XP with no antivirus. I know impero got slammed about security but I'm really surprised NRS hasn't been questioned yet. -
Thanks John although I should have specified it really needs to show logons as the computers in these rooms mostly stay on. I guess I could always make them go to sleep though, good idea
-
@Al_NetSupport does NetSupport have anything like this that we could use if we move from Impero?
-
Thanks @mfurneaux Yes I'll add it to my other 4 outstanding issues that I have open at Impero that would have been amazing if it had worked Good suggestion though.
-
Thanks @mfurneaux I forgot about Impero's power management reports. I've just run one for a ICT room where I know the room is getting lots of use and in a whole week there was only 1 logon! O dear how I love Impero and the reports it produces. Would you be kind enough to see if yours works and displays the right kind of amount of users logged on? Thanks

Good morning, We have a lot of computers around the edge of classrooms which when I check on Impero are not being used so I'd love to redeploy elsewhere. Now when I ask the teachers they insist they use them often and they need to stay :-) Does anyone have a piece of software or even a script that you can tie in with OU's or groups where you can input times so you can say for example out of 5 lessons on a Monday the computers were used only 20% of the time? We used to have a report we could run when we used Ranger for Networks that made this so easy but I can't see anything that would make this easy using Impero? We do have a log on script "echo %TIME%,%Date%,%USERNAME%,Log-on,%COMPUTERNAME% >> \\dc1\Log$\%COMPUTERNAME%.log" which does log some information needed but it takes a very long time to collate and group the information into usable useful information. Please if anyone has any scripts or programs that can do this I am all ears :-) Cheers

Yes this doesn't look right to me either, thats why I am hoping @Steve21 can double check for me before I change any settings when he gets a chance. I wish it had been a while since I looked at Frog last ;-)

@Steve21 Just checking through everything I can think off. Looking at the Roles in the toolkit I did a search for Toolkit to see which users have toolkit access. I haven't changed ours but it currently looks like this: Does this look the same as yours? Cheers
-
Thanks Steve, that gives me hope we might be able to fix it then at least seeing your not paying either. Yes I was just a bit sus as its only been a month since we stopped paying and its the first time I have seen this. There are only a couple of admins setup and I'm the only one logged on at the minute to the toolkit for sure. It could be old users I guess never thought of that I'll look into it. Not sure how you only see Toolkit users are they the same as administrators I guess? Cheers for your help much faster than I ever got from Frog :-)

We have a problem with Frog whereby in the toolkit if I edit a user it pops up with a message saying the following: It doesn't matter what user I edit it can be a student, teacher or even a parent. It happens if I edit any field and when I go back into the user the Login Profile is then missing. Now normally I would contact Frog but the powers that be said they were no longer happy to pay for Frog so we don't buy support from them any longer. Does anyone know how to get around this issue? The only way I have managed to get around it is to export the user and then make the changes in the CSV and re import the changes. I have a feeling this may have even happened because we have stopped paying because it mentions contacting them to add more users? Any help much appreciated as ever Cheers

Have used http://www.join.me in the past for a pupil with VI needs. It seemed to work well for their needs.

Hi @Michael , I've been following your excellent post and have the classic shell working with the gpo you posted. One thing I'm stuck on though is I want users to be able to search for programs in the classic shell menu using the search programs and files but for some reason the default search shows every file in the whole of the C drive so for example if I just type the letter c in the search box it returns 320 programs. Have you or anyone found a way around this? Cheers

I'd just love a version of Impero that works without so many bugs, if this means joining with RM then so be it, but if I had the time I would be looking at NetSupport TBH
-
Thanks for all the info, will you be using these for lesson change over? Is there programming in the units to ring all at different schedules I take it?
-
Sounds like an interesting way of doing this, what voip speakers are you looking at out of interest? are they cheap enough?
-
Could you not use chromes built in users mode?

Any update on this case study yet I'd love to see it. Cheers -
Hi everyone, I am looking for a provider of technical courses in the South West, preferable in Devon somewhere like Exeter or Plymouth would be ideal. I have found some really good offers online such as School Training Offers - NEOS IT Training Ltd @Leeoakley but the ones I am really after like the Windows Server 2012 R2 server administration is 4 days long and travelling 3 hours each way every day is not going to work and I don't think the school will find the money to send me away for four days and pay for accommodation etc. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Cheers

Thanks @FN-GM I'd love to find out as well. I have setup ADFS in the past but got rid of it as it seemed to offer nothing for us. If you find out anything please let me know and I'll do the same. Cheers

Thanks, Have you managed to get outlook to save the password using roaming profiles or does the user have to type their password in each time they use outlook on a new computer?
-
Hi everyone, joining this thread a bit late after posting this thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/164806-outlook-password-prompts-office365.html has anyone got this working yet regarding not having to enter a password when opening outlook? Cheers
-
Thanks @TMODAlpha Do you use Office365 at all?
