For a while we have been using Logitech MK250 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Sets which have been brilliant but now we can no longer get them. We have bought some Logitech MK270 but they are rubbish in comparison. We have had a number of keys stop working, mice stop working but most of all the problem is the tiny little usb micro dongle they come with. This means the reception is rubbish, they barely work from a few meters away depending on room conditions and are generally unreliable. We bought some Genius SlimStar 8000ME sets to try these but again they have the micro USB dongle and are much the same. We are thinking about getting a Microsoft Wireless Desktop 800 set in to try which seems to have a slightly bigger dongle but just wanted to see what everyone else is using before wasting more money. The main purpose will be for use with a desktop computer in a classroom where it needs to work at least 5-10 meters away from the computer or half way across the classroom roughly. Any advice on good sets would be appreciated. Cheers

Acronis true image home edition is brilliant for this. I bought an SSD with a free copy but you may well be able to use the 30 day trial to achieve the same results.

You really need a minimum of 6 to 8 1GB connections to each server in my opinion. 4x dedicated to iSCSI traffic split over two switches for redundancy using the Dell hit kit for multiple connections 2x for HYPER-V host traffic (teamed and then again split over two switches) 2x for management ideally on a separate switch I say two as this will be used for backups depending on your setup and also live migrations if your running CSV which I guess you are it just a lot faster depending on RAM usage. You could get away with having one switch but if it fails its not going to be good plus you might get bottlenecks when running backups or copying large files. Cheers

Might be worth looking into shared ownership houses. There are some new builds where I live typically a two bed is going for £155k but with shared ownership you can buy 50% and then buy the rest later when you earn more etc or just pay rent on the rest. Not going to pretend I know much about it but it may pay to do some research as you could possibly get on the ladder this way. Also when I was looking the shared ownership houses were often of better spec complete with solar panels, better heating etc.

Smoothwall is great I would recommend it any day. Its quite an involved product in terms of getting it setup exactly how you want it, but the good thing is it can do pretty much everything and more that you want it to do. We've had it for about 4 years now and in that time it has added so many new features.

Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply. I'm presuming there is some sort of memory leak but I am only referring to the committed (commit charge) and paged pool size. I thought that the committed figure total in my 136GB is higher than the physical RAM as I understand this figure to be the RAM size plus page pool size which in my case is set to a static page pool of 12GB on the system drive. So in my example 36GB is shown as in use that makes sense as I added up the memory allocated to each VM switched on within the host(there are no dynamic memory configs on any VM servers here) and added the other apps running on the host in the processes and it came to around the figure of 36GB which is the in use memory. The free figure of 96GB in my example is all well and good but the committed (commit charge) is 114GB so I could not start another VM with 20GB of ram as it said I did not have enough memory. Yes your right the paged pool size plus the in use memory is the total committed charge but what is this paged pool figure about do you know? Cheers

Hi @TheRobins thanks for the reply no we are using Hyper-V. In the end I have restarted 3 of the hosts and they are back down to having committed memory levels matching exactly the in use memory. I left 1 host so I could play around and see if I could discover the memory leak but no such joy I am up for trying anything. On this one remaining host I removed all VM's stopped all services relating to hyper-v, iscsi, basically anything I could stop or kill I did and now the in use memory is 4GB and the committed is 70GB. Where on earth has 66GB of RAM floated away to? I have found nothing online which can help me I have tried running various tools such as rammap and vmmap to try and find the cause but nothing. I have thought about contacting Microsoft support but now they have got rid of technet I have no support available even though we have an EES contract. If anyone has any ideas I'd be greatful Cheers

Now that August 2013/2014 is now well and truly gone does anyone know how I contact Microsoft for support mainly for the problem in the post http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2012/147710-commited-ram-critical-please-help-me.html We have an EES agreement but I am now wondering if this entitles us to support. It crazy Microsoft is the company we give the most money to each year and yet they are the hardest to actually speak to unless you have a magic number. Cheers

Hi all, Had the morning from hell, came in happy and instantly met with a barrage of phone calls and staff banging at the door. Basically last night during backups (we use Veeam) a number of our VM's switched off with various different errors. Veeam seems to have initiated (but maybe not caused) the problems. I have rung Veeam sent them all the logs and they are looking into it. One thing I have noticed on our 4 hosts is some kind of a memory leak. They are all using well in excess of the used RAM as committed. See the screenshot for what I mean. We should have plenty of room to move machines around on the cluster but when I tried to start a VM with 20GB of RAM it said not enough available resources to start VM even though in available RAM I have 90GB odd free. Does anyone have any ideas before I go home? I am sure restarting the hosts will get rid of the problem but I can't really do that right now and I'm sure this angry bug will come back to bite me again. Cheers

@Boredguy you are a life saver. I have done what you said and it works perfectly. You are better than Apple Enterprise support. Yes it is a pain to update all iPads using iTunes on a PC but then it works perfectly. Thanks again

@Boredguy No progress at all I'm afraid. I spent about 3 hours on the phone to apple enterprise support as luckily I recently bought Apple Server so I have 90 days free support with this but still no progress. They recommended I update the iPad's in iTunes which I did but then as a Supervised device still has to go through the update stage even with the latest iOS already installed it still freezes at the installing iOS point. Christmas then came and the whole thing got held up but the last thing I am going to try is a complete different separate Mac if I can get my hands on one that is. I have tried separate iPads, different users on the Mac. Different version of Mac OSX on the same Mac and nothing works it always get stuck. I'm sure there is a bug but as any large multinational unless hundreds of people have the same issue are they really going to care? I now have 30 iPads sitting here almost useless to me. I will let you know if I get anywhere with this. Cheers

@Pahoa_Phill No luck so far, I have tried a number of things such as, remove apple configurator along with all its db and files as in this link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5763739?tstart=0 - no joy Tried going back in timemachine to the OS before Yosemite, no joy still the same Tired reinstalling Yosemite still the same Tried ringing up Apple support their advice was update the iPad manually and try again, kind of defeats the point of what I am trying to do here? Any ideas anyone?

Saying that though I have no idea how to do this now you don't get a OS CD there must be away though, here's hoping its easy!

Thanks @tmoon-mint I just tried you suggestion but unfortunately although it took a while to re-download iOS its still stuck on Installing iOS 8.1.2 any other ideas apart from tell everyone they are stuck on iOS7? Probably faster anyway
