The default setup is that teachers have access to only their marksheets. Also the head of year has a marksheet as well when you create the class ones, they get assigned a year one. As for giving heads of departments access to others I think you may need to put them on as supervisors or something similar.

I have been using wine to install all sorts of programs under Ubuntu and I havent had any issues at all. You start the isntaller and wine picks it up straight away. I am even running steam and played Team Fortress Classic online with no problems at all. I would have tried TF 2 but I couldnt be bothered waiting for all the files to download. I am even got Team Speak running through wine because it works better than the native version!

I recently made the permanent move over to Linux on my home machine. I need to import all my old mail which is in the form of a pst file. I have tried Importing mail from Outlook into thunderbird on my Windows laptop. It doesnt even know Outlook is installed! I have tried the pst import plug in for Thunderbird on Linux and windows and it doesnt work. I tried readpst on linux. Didnt work I tried outport on windows which exported all the email to folders and files, but Evolution didn't want to know. In the end I noticed by mistake that Thunderbird could see Outlook Express, so I imported the emails to express and then to Thunderbird! I then copied the mail folder over and did single file import on the filenames like Inbox without the extension! So I got it done in the end but what would have been an easier way?

As long as they are just a normal user in SIMs ie "Class Teacher" they can only change the items on the mark sheets they are assigned. They are best exporting a formatted mark sheet though to make sure they can only enter grades etc and not delete the name column by accident or something.

You mean you want a memory pool that hihger end products offer?

It would gain you some speed and more available memory but I think most people will have one installed natively and Just have the normal VMWare server running the other. I used to Have XP and run a Linux VM. I now run Linux and have an XP VM

We have setup read only permissions for the Teachers as well. I have also taught the more able teachers how to use previous versions to check how much work they have actually done in any given period of time.

I think I ahve the same problem with one of mine in the cupboard. I never did find a solution. All the guides seemed to point to a slightly different model.

I keep meaning to figure out if I can fit a Stebel horn on mine. Its behind radiator currently so I may have to move it. I have exactly the same problem which I noticed on one 2 weeks ago and had to take it out of service. One of the other ones is getting noisy now too. I bet they are out of warranty! Are all yours in warranty?
