  1. I used a software restriction policy on the paths recently for the intel stuff. There is a setting for disabling the whole list but not individual ones.
  2. I would be very interested in any development on this. We have just started looking at moving some servers onto the free ESXi and I am wondering about backups. I nearly died when I was given the backup exec agent price so I am looking for alternatives. Discussing it with Ric earlier it did sound like reasonable enough to treat them as a normal machine and have a template server vm to restore to but I would like to see other methods in action. If I get time tommorow I will have a look at the script and see if I can get my head round it. One thing I would like to do is convert it to VBScript as I find that easier to read, even if it might end up bulkier

    2 Address Lists

You can make 2 extra address lists just by using a filter. In my case I think I just made sure all the staff had "staff" in the description for their AD account and filtered it from there. The other step is to adjust permissions on the GAL so students cant read it.
  4. We have 2 identical rooms. One has computers around three walls and an Island in the middle. This room holds 28 machines. The identical room above it, we fitted out in summer. This has one full row against the back wall and two rows split down the middle. This room can hold 36 computers. The other thing we did was have all the computers face away from the front. This means the teacher can see every single screen from the front of the class and knows if someone is not paying attention as they are facing their computer and not the teacher. The are a few disadvantages to this such as it's hard to copy of the board etc but these are outweighed by the advantages.
  5. You dont say what your backing up to but I am going to assume a slow tape device since it's taking so long. You need to implement something like a backup to a file server or NAS/SAN etc then put that onto tape. This way the backup is done quickly and it can copy to tape and not be affecting the servers when they are in use.
  6. Wheres the danger and excitement in that?
  7. I had the same problem. I had to uninstall the nvidia driver and then it sprang into life.
  8. Can you not extract the drivers from the exe using something like 7 zip or Winrar?
  9. There is the LPI certification and that can tie in with Ubuntu certification as well.
  10. You will need more than leathers in winter
  11. My update didn't work properly. I ended up uninstalling the NVidia driver then Gnome sprang into life on the reboot phew!
  12. Upgrading now. Nearly finished .
  13. Well the new horn is just about fitted. There was no chance of it going where the original was but I found another place for it under the fairing. The horn is not quite as loud as I expected. It is slightly louder than my original but not much. The tone is definately different though. The original was a bike characteristic "meeeeeep". This has definately got a much deeper tone and sounds more like a car horn.
  14. I think I could justify the price of the on line version at that price. Especially since it includes a server and SQL license.

    Censornet problems

You can set concurrent log on to the CN. I am using Network Guardian these days for most computers, but I do have Censornet in place to handle non domain computers *prods Tom*

    Censornet problems

CN3 does not support transparent NTLM. Also the symptoms you describe used to affect me too. It is one of the processes it goes though overnight that seems to break it. My only advice is make sure you reboot every morning. None of the fixes I tried worked. Then again on another install it was fine so ......
  17. At least your trying to do something for it to complain about. When I try to load the Discover image on one of my VIA Rhine based Nic motherboards it just goes: and thats without me doing anything Works perfect on everything else.
  18. I have and older version but I just copied the installed folder to a network share. So in theory you could just deploy that folder to machines.
  19. Monitor them via a help desk so you can see who is doing what and how long it is taking. If not a help desk then job sheets or diaries with a list of jobs each day then any extra they do, they also write it in.
  20. Can you not set it up as an appointment or something so it will warn them when you specify, through their mail client? This assumes they have it open all the time ofc.
  21. Can we please stick to genuine questions about the job and not moaning about the wage as usual.
  22. I have alays used Enermax in my home machines. Expensive, but have never let me down yet.
  23. There are various scripting add ons for Daemon tools.
  24. It must be picking up the mouse click as 2 events. eg mouse down, mouse up.
  25. I am not familiar with CMIS but if you have so little rights as you claim, I doubt it will let you import stuff.
