You certainly could use hard drives in place of discs, however could you keep up with demand? You would need to produce somewhere in the region of 400 - 500 million hard drives every year if you wanted them to act as a viable replacement media for blu ray alone. That would basically mean doubling the quantity of hard drives produced every year. To be honest, I have no idea how realistic that would be. I would expect that a different optical disc would be preferable due to the materials involved and simpler production methods, plus optical discs are more durable than hard drives and weigh less.

Not quite the same as buying a disc in the shops...

The company driving 8K managed to broadcast an 8K piece of footage at 120fps (which runs at about 48Gbps, after compression it's 500Mbps) using today's tech, so it can be done. The problem is that for that single stream you can send 166 SD channels, or 50 HD channels. This should illustrate the issues with broadcasting going forward. 4K is going to be here for quite a long time, the bandwidth to stream 8K is just beyond our infrastructure (in every sense), even 4K is going to require serious changes if it is ever to be used for broadcasting. 8K panels probably aren't that much more difficult to make than 4K, but we don't have a physical format which can store enough data for it to be useful unless you spread a single 8K film over a boxset of blurays.

But the same argument can still be made to a degree for HD, there is some HD content but the vast majority of broadcasting isn't HD. You would still buy a HD TV though as it has other uses, and it's practically the only way to go these days. 4K broadcasting isn't currently available but that's not to say it wont be available in the future. 8K is even less likely to be broadcast given the amount of bandwidth it requires. To be perfectly honest the days of TV being broadcast are limited, the bandwidth required going forward is going to grow substantially, we don't have every channel in HD and the market is already moving on from that. The only feasible way will be to stream it over the internet in future.

That's only if you ask the games to run at a 4K resolution, you don't have to do that, especially as currently the hardware and game engines to deliver 4K gaming content aren't really there. The point is that for £50 you could have a panel that will do 4K once the rest of the kit catches up. Otherwise when the kit does catch up and you want 4K you have to spend another £500 on a new TV.

Personally given the price difference between 1080p and 4K is around £50 - £100, I would say yes absolutely buy 4K. There is basically no argument against buying 4K, while we don't know how heavily the market will embrace 4K the price difference means that you might as well make an attempt at future proofing.

The subscription model wouldn't replace the existing licensing model, they will do like they have done with Office and offer both, it's just more choice for the consumer and is something that should be embraced not shunned. You aren't being forced to use the subscription model, secure boot doesn't actually stop you from doing anything if you have access to the bios. The always on stuff for Xbox One was meant to prevent piracy and change the second hand market, not a bad thing but the market isn't ready for it. As a result we lost a whole load of features regarding shared libraries and games which was a great shame really.

Xbox One doesn't have this problem, can't say the same for the Amazon Fire TV though, never used one.

Facebook is hardly to blame for this, the killers were on various intelligence agency watch lists. If they didn't bother to request Facebook give them information then they aren't going to get it, Facebook can't monitor over 1 billion members and their activities to that degree, imagine the uproar that would cause. They are just trying to pin it on someone else, as per the norm when Gov. screws up.

Regardless, this is still the model that I would like to see Google adopt for YouTube, it's better than nothing at all.

There are basically two systems, Turbo user and individual subscriptions. A Turbo user gets pretty much no ads at all (I think there is one exception) and a few other benefits. But the individual subscriptions are more interesting as you subscribe to a specific channel, they then get half the subscription fee ($5/mon) so you can more directly support them, you don't see ads this way either. I would prefer Google added both, but the individual subscriptions is the one I would like to see the most, as money goes straight to the channel.

Don't really care about it for general web browsing, but seriously wish they would implement a similar model as twitch when it comes to YouTube.

To be perfectly honest I think Code Academy have put those features in place purely for the users benefit, not for some underhanded reason. If you have guidelines in place then you shouldn't really have anything to worry about.

We don't formally use it, though occasionally it's used for a club but they don't use it as registered members, but you could just write some guidelines to say that you don't enter sensitive data such as school info/classes. Alternatively you could issue each student with generic information CS001, CS002 for names etc.

Do you need to enter any of that data? You can use the site without even registering, just because they offer a feature doesn't mean it has to be used. Edit: Here is the starting point for Python - http://www.codecademy.com/tracks/python (No need to register at all)

You just login to it and it tracks your progress, to my knowledge it holds no sensitive data beyond the login details you supply. It doesn't link to any systems like SIMS or AD.

You can't remove it without modifying the shell to my knowledge, not something I was prepared to do. You are going to have a lot of fun with this let me tell you. You can modify the background and put something behind that box as it's just a frame, though you will need to do a different background for each screen resolution that you run. This gets a bit funny because the system for the backgrounds only supports a specific set of backgrounds, so you have to use a default background for specific laptop resolutions and then specify the rest. I have linked a .psd for the 1280x1024 background which shows where an image needs to go to fit the frame. 1280x1024.psd (OneDrive)

Sigh it's never the easy fixes. Ok well the on screen keyboard is a process called OSK.exe which is located here C:\Windows\System32\osk.exe so you can set this to start automatically when the machine logs in and then dock it, once you dock this one the X goes away so you can't close it once docked. However you can still close it by undocking it. To get around that you could write a script that runs once a minute and checks if osk.exe is running, if so then do nothing, or if not then start it again. To ensure that it starts docked you need to change this registry setting, you will need to do this in your script too as it will be changed if someone disables the dock: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Osk\Dock = 1 Hope this is somewhat useful!

Does this computer also have a regular keyboard and mouse plugged in?

That's slightly different as they have different plots and settings, FC3 and 4 are so similar that they could be confused if not for the slight name change. Games have the added problem of mechanics, Assassin's Creed for example is basically the same mechanically, though in recent times they have expanded it slightly, though this should be expected from a long running series, eventually they have to make some changes. There are now 21 games in total for Assassin's Creed by the way. Far Cry is up to 10 with the release of Far Cry 4.

I haven't and probably wont, it's more or less Far Cry 3 with some tweaks, in a different part of the world which has alot of similar environments to Far Cry 3. They barely even update the gun models, some of which are practically identical. Ubisoft are basically trying to do to Far Cry what they did to Assassins Creed, ie. minimum changes, maximum profit. It's sad to see a good concept flogged to death.

At this stage I would simply suggest not installing Windows 10 on a Macbook Pro, the operating system is still just development builds and if the Macbook works perfectly well with OSX then that's probably your answer. If it's not working well with OSX then it's a problem with the Macbook, so you should probably be asking in the Apple section.
