It's almost all entirely down to BT OpenReach and their inability to maintain their infrastructure. They need to be dissolved and have the responsibility given to someone with a proven track record, something BT has never had.

We are still on Windows 7 as 8/8.1 really didn't seem suitable for the workplace. So we will be looking to move to Windows 10, either summer 2016 (brave) or summer 2017 (safe). Just need to see how it settles down in its first 6 months really.

I installed filezilla again recently and didn't have any extras. So yeah another one for filezilla (I see a pattern!).

I was really hoping to see more Mercedes/Ferrari style noses (though obviously within the new regulations), but it seems the FIA have seen fit to allow room for these ugly designs. I really can't blame the teams for it as there are some significant aero benefits from having this design.

That's just a render so who knows how accurate it will actually be, can't say I'm a fan of the nose.

Had a similar issue with a HP DC5750 a few years ago, after walking it around most of the school I took it back and plugged it back in and it has been fine since then, never found an explanation for it.

Yeah pretty painless really, I'm sure Microsoft will probably expand on the admin side of groups at some point in the future, there are a few issues with them as it stands, this one is obviously a bit of a nightmare for Schools, but I would expect also in business. Plus if you accidentally delete a group everything is gone forever, no restore features or recycle bin support currently. I would like to see a sharepoint site added to them too in future. They look very useful for departments though so we are going to trial them with our IT Department.

We used the powershell command to modify the students mailbox policy, so they are unable to create groups. Worth mentioning that they can still fill out all the information to create a group but when they hit create it throws an error, not exactly the neatest approach but it gets the job done.

No idea, I tried contacting the LA, Smoothwall and eventually another school in the area pointed us towards the CSV route, just gave up on the whole thing, if Smoothwall's own support couldn't get it working that was enough for us. Left a bad taste in our mouths, wont touch it again. They actually contacted us recently because they believed we were still one of their customers, had to laugh at that.

Back when we had it forced upon us by the LA we found it horrendously complex, needlessly so, it claimed AD integration but actually you had to manually import user accounts from CSV which it would then query LDAP against to determine permissions. We dropped it within weeks, sold the box and used Forefront instead. Now we are with virgin we have a Palo Alto firewall.
