Thanks, I think that pretty much confirms it. I don't want to send it off if Toshiba then fix the screens and push the cost back to us due to user damage.

So had these 3 similar problem laptops handed to me which are still under warranty. I know what a classic broken screen looks like, but I'm not sure about these. Are they some sort of pressure defect or has the screen malfunctioned?

Get dell to swap out a PSU to see if this makes a difference. I've had intermittent PSU problems on a different brand. I got a replacement PSU sent, which had a different revision number on it (hmmm) and this worked fine. Over time other PSU's played up and I just got them swapped out.

Just a note for the record, just found in the E70 manual that HDMI is only supported up to 3 metres!! I've now purchased some repeaters and so far so good.

The HDMI still proved to be problematic. After looking through the E70 manual I found that it only supports 3m for HDMI!! I was quite shocked about that as I need 7m minimum. I've now purchased HDMI repeaters and they seem to be doing the job now.

You would hope it is something like the ram that just needs reseating.

What was the issue with these, no display?

Also couldn't get the bios USB stick replicate to work which would have been handy.

As above, turn on legacy & disable UEFI, reboot, type the code, go back to the bios and then enable the legacy boot order. Try F12 after this and it should be fine. We've got 62 of these that have just arrived. All were working fine and then after a reboot 2 failed to boot with no display. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Well, we just ended up redoing the build from scratch. Since then the build has been fine, so maybe a new update fixed it, an update that I wasn't able to get to before with a broken W10. I may never know.

I read this thread the other day and it seemed like most people were getting on fine, so we continued to push on for W10 on our new teacher laptops. Then we discovered that the "PC settings" app in 2 separate images we've created isn't working! It just does plain nothing when you click on it. Along with the old faithful right click on desktop "display settings" or "personalize" is throwing up an error about the "ms-settings". So the long and short of it, it looks like the PC settings app is corrupted in some way, along with most of the apps contained within it, as you can't jump to these either via a direct command. I've posted another thread here about it: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/172196-cannot-open-windows-10-settings.html I'm about to give out 90+ laptops with this image and I don't even know if windows update is working in the background as I can't get to it. I've got to say, this is the worst problem (potentially) I've seen on any version of windows for some time.

Posting in hope. It seems strange but somehow during a new build of W10 the "PC settings" is refusing to open via all routes. No error message, just no response. From what I can work out it seems corrupted. I have tried everything from the post below that I've found on the internet. It seems there are a few others out there looking for a fix without success. To complicate matters further it seems there was this problem when W10 first came out and that was fixed by a KB that has since been pulled and probably included in a following update. Since then the problem has resurfaced again.

My thinking is that the condensation is forming over night during the winter months. I don't think I can leave a heater plugged in, and it would just get meddled with anyway or even taken away. I don't see it being any cleaning materials on the screen, this wouldn't affect the internal video ports. I think the thermo plugs may be the best and easiest thing if this is what is happening.

We have one screen that gets this for sure. It's in the dance studio that has 3 walls that are outside walls so I guess the studio gets extremely cold in the winter months and when the screen is in standby I'm guessing it is generating a small bit of heat that is causing condensation. I've got other screens in another building that I presume is getting cold. I don't get visual condensation but I've had untold intermittent problems with video output on vga and hdmi cables on different screens. I've think i've resolved the studio screen problem by putting a thermostat plug that will kill the power to the screen when the temperature drops too low, but only time will tell. So there must be others out there that have experienced the same thing??? Please share your thoughts.

We've moved from VGA to HDMI and it appears to be ok now for the last couple of weeks. Points of note: Our main model of laptop has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 and this just won't work with HDMI, so we have to drop it down one level to 1360 x 768 like you have done. I don't know if this is because of this particular resolution or just the laptop model, but it works and that's all I'm worried about. I tried to link our visualizers through the HDMI and as well as the laptop and this proved a step too far. It's the same old thing, the more connection points you have the worst the signal gets. Now we go from the screen to wall plate and then wall plate to laptop and we can get away with this. The visualizer has to remain separately on the VGA. This is a pain having to educate teachers to change the screen's input, but I haven't a better option.

Can anyone throw me a bone here?

Just to add, since the summer Outlook has become more sensitive to disconnections. For example if I am on wifi and wired and I pull the wired connection, Outlook freaks out and up comes the login box even though I can still access everything else on wifi.

A bit of an old thread drag-up, but we've been experiencing issues similar to this if not the same. Is everyone still suffering or does anyone know a miraculous solution?

So my boss enters a new seemingly harmless IE exception via GP to the whole school. Soon after that exceptions are doing weird stuff. Our main intranet page seems to be working (http:\\ts01) but the staff can't get onto our helpdesk (http:\\ts01\helpdesk) and various other local sites are playing up too. I looked at one PC where the problem existed. I open up IE and attempt to go to the helpdesk and it doesn't work. I then go to the where the IE proxy settings are, do nothing and just click on ok and then go back and refresh my page and bingo everything is working again. Does anyone know what is going on here as I'm puzzled?

It didn't turn out to be their last song, as they came back, but well worth a look if you like A-ha as the video flashes back across some of their previous hits and is quite a fitting and satisfying end (apart from turning into butterflys).

Yeah, most songs to be honest were better than take on me. It's just the song that set them on their way. The sun always shines on TV has to be up there with my favourites. I like their more rocky / moody songs. Albums like scoundrel days and east of sun west of the moon were great.
