Or as Sagima has suggested, maybe DPM will open the VHDX directly from the cloud storage without needing to download it if you have the Hyper-V role installed?

Have you tried connect the KVM to the money, power the monitor up then the KVM? The KVM will need to detect the monitor and sounds like its now doing.

Quotas never work, staff just use another code or go crying to the business manager to have it reset. Look in to Papercut and put a monetary value on each print. There's loads of topics on here about how to set this up. We have it that each department gets asked each half term how much they want on there printing budget. It comes out of their annual budget so they use it wisely (On the most part). Staff authenticate with a fob which is linked to their AD account. Department heads can request a report showing who's done what. Just by having a £ on each job makes people think. 'You have 200 pages left' doesn't have much affect but 'You've just spent £80 on exams papers and have £10 left' does.

Looking at that it looks like you've backed up a VM which is your file server? Is that right? Here I have a the agent installed on the file server itself so its listed on the left hand side. I guess your backup up the VHDX file which means you need to restore the full thing before browsing it.

You should see the following on recovery: Once you've picked a data drive on the left hand side, the main content area will allow you to navigate the folder structure. Right click on a folder or file to recover it.

Hi All, I'm still trying to find a deployment method of Autodesk Fusion. I've tried the admin installer method but all I get is the extraction taking place then the program ends without installing. Next I setup App-V in the hope of using that. I've managed to capture Autodesk Fusion but when testing it on a client it loads the EXE but nothing appears. I know App-V itself is working as I've captured and deployed Paint.net fine. Has anyone got the deployment or App-V methods to work? Or another way? I don't want to roll this in to an image as it means re-imaging everything (Not something I'm wanting to do at the moment) and I struggle to see how it can update. Thanks, Rob

I tried to convince our staff to use OneNote and I should think some will, but departments such as Maths use features which OneNote just doesn't have. My aim was to unlink software from hardware, we are purchasing Prowise hardware but only to get free licences to start us off. There's nothing stopping us purchase another make and continuing to use Prowise Presenter software. Nothing in there software requires their own board. This was a real plus point for me.

We're looking at going for Prowise boards, purely for the software. The software is all web based and is very impressive! I wasn't to keen to start with having used the free version they offer but once we were given a trail of Pro it really opens up the features. The fact its online means staff can access it from any device, any time and from anywhere.

Have you tried with 1 charger plugged in? Then 2 and so on. Might be one charger causing a spike. Do your chargers have a figure of 8 or clover leaf mains cable?

We have Mifare (RFID) stickers in planners. We are going to look at moving to student ID's next year to try and save costs on buying new stickers each year. Students still login with AD details however from time to time as they can't find there planner in there bag.

We had this problem for scan to email. We sent out mail out via a SMTP relay on the Smoothwall. I had to add the public IP of the Smoothie to the SPF record and create an account in O365 to match the one used in papercut. Once this was done we had no problem.

Best method I have found is using GPP to install the printers (Update). Then delete them if needed (IE if student logs on, delete office printer). Only time it doesn't work you need to delete the print driver and re-add it to fix it. Rare we get that issue.

My understanding is consumer SSD have a max number of writes, server SSD's will be higher. Some SSD's state this number on the product page. For most modern SSD's with a client OS it would take 5 years or more to reach the max. It used to be a problem on older drives.

Can you not use Skype For Business then allow it to communicate with Skype users? Although I've got problems getting Skype For Business out I don't think its as bad as Skype.

Does an Office 365 account connect to Windows Live Mail? A notice on the dashboard currently says support for Outlook 2007 is being dropped, wouldn't be surprised if WLM is the same.

I'm using mRemoteNG here after Microsoft Remote Desktop Manager had problems on our Windows 10 machines.

Are these true BYOD devices (IE owned by students) or school own 1:1 device? My view on BYOD is yes have it, but don't touch devices other than to connected them to the WLAN. If the device is student owned its down to them to insure its up to date. If you install a patch which causes a BSOD or even worse data loss, who's responsible? Tricky ground if you start installing software on personal own equipment. We only force students to install the Smothwall HTTPS cert, after that they can use Office 365 for everything else.

If you already have DPM its a good fit. You can sign up for £125 of Azure credit and trail it. You should be able to use your existing DPM and just upload what you want. As its pay as you go you can trail it for as long as your want. We tried to work out the costs but trailing it and couldn't.

Cost are hard to work out, its based on amount you store and instances. An instance is each type of backup you do I believe. So ours are split between Data, SIMS and DPM itself. They each have their own retention periods etc. There's also a fee for transfers I believe that's so small you don't need to worry about it.

We use a version of DPM you are provided when paying for Azure Backup called 'Azure Backup Server'. Its just DPM without the tape backup it seems with the Azure Agent installed at the same time. As for costs, we backup 3 'Instances' which are File Data, SIMS and DPM itself. We currently have around 2.2TB in Azure and its costing around £65 a month. You can use DPM to backup some files locally which I intend on using for apps, this is zero cost as it doesn't count as an instance or file storage.

Azure backup here, local 20 day cache of data to quick recovery but everything is stored in Azure for up to 3 years. Took a bit to get the first few backups up but now daily's are very quick as its changes only. Costs are very good as well compared to other offsite solutions.

We've taken the view that there's just as much personal data outside of SIMS as there is inside. So staff should lock workstations hence we login to SIMS automatically.
