Can you manually map the deploymentshare?

We changed our policy so you had to book it. We'd turn up and plug in a usb VHS player. No one took us up. We also offered to convert one tape at a time, only people interested ignored the rule, turned up with bag fulls and never had them converted. No one ever came back to collect.

Itninja.com also give a good list of command line install options.

So teachers attend training, half listen, come back to school to show off their new skills, can't do it, call upto support who havent been trained in the dark arts of teaching, nor have they attended said training, nor are they given a decent explanation and somehow it's our fault the teachers can't deliever on their own misguided expectations.

Isn't that what happens to any software once a teacher gets their hands on it? Upgraious floppy disk to network license a spellyarmous!

If they are the dumb ones then it should work with most software. Try the amcap software or vlc https://files.huehd.com/downloads/amcap.zip

Windows 10 Start Menu broke by disabling applocker
strawberry replied to Theldron's topic in Windows 10
Does the policy whitelist the startmenu or blacklist it? The policy could be one of two or more, a default block somewhere and this policy whitelisting/ enabling the start menu -

Automate 10 Minute Email Sending Delay?
strawberry replied to Durham_Black_Cat's topic in Office Software
The issue here is that you use 365 via outlook and web, This means the solution has to be in 365 and I can't see how you can do that. If onsite you could script exchange to only send every x amount of minutes, and if only using the client you could script the client to go offline. Suggest you burn a ms ticket on this one to prove it's impossible.- 25 replies

Handling conferencing/remote access software and applocker
strawberry replied to cgilmour's topic in Windows 7
Layer 8 issue i'm afraid, these things often have test conferences you can join. Your staff need to test it 24 hours in advance and hand in their laptops for installation. Or create packages and host them in the SCCM software centre. -
How have you set it in the first place?
-
And then it's someone else's fault and they refuse to pass along the favour.
-
Teacher effort VS capital expenditure and blame.
-
So use software centre. Let them install it themselves. Or configure the app accordingly so it ignores maintenance windows. The delivery mech isn't the issue here.

Kpi's aren't the tool needed here. Ways of working are needed. If the IT staff aren't meeting expectation then all parties need to sit down and work this out. Kpi's will been seen as a quanititive stick used by people who don't really understand the process but want something quantifiable to hold over the staff. This is why your IT staff aren't engaging, they probably feel they are bing victimimised and micromanaged by people being paid more than them to do a job they don't really understand ( Only in education do you find line managers who manage folk who's job they've never done or manage a business based on once being a decent entry level shop floor worker) Bluntly, you need to work together to sort out this dispute. The IT staff need to know what the curriculum staff want and the curriculum staff need to know what to expect. If as you say IT staff are leaving logon issues a day without feeding back then your school is failing, not just the IT staff.
-
Why not do this the other way round? Find out what the measureables are from the staff then sit with the IT staff to find out what is involved in the process and how it can be supported before coming up with a basic SLA. For instance if the staff demand that toner should be changed within an hour then you need to ensure that toner is in stock, alerts are in place and that there are staff available to change the toner at all times.

Use thin images and group the applications together. The time saving during deployment will be offset by the fiddling you have to do to make two seperate images
