ECDL was always the staple for differently abled kids. Also seems a shame to teach them something they could have easy access to via other mediums though. Depending on their needs prehaps the microsoft office ( MOS) exams if they are confident.

In what way are they not a local admin? you may have GPO's blocking what you would consider admin behaviour.
-
No. Zero reason to allow access to an uncontrolled resource when you surely have better options.
-
Yeah, Can't remember the setting but it was fairly obvious. It was a sliding scale for on mains and on batt.

We've had this issue on machines where you can override the brightness in the bios.

What do the event logs say?

i'd do this in two steps. One to deploy all the software then i'd use WDS to capture it. Never had much joy capturing with MDT

odd one, where does the program install to?

I believe the lad reference here is Punching!. Congrats to you both! and the doggie on the cake of his dreams.

Does Q: appear on your start menu?. Top line is truncated. you'll need to combine those two.

super messy xml below.

DesktopApplicationLinkPath="%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System Tools\Command Prompt.lnk" You may need to copy a few shortcuts to the local machines using GPO file preferences as well.

i coulnd't get unc paths to work, i ended up using the local shortcuts instead.

This, the faults could be software, gpo, hardware, network, drivers, profile size. We've seen no diagnosis to suggest disk speed is the issue.

Are you the tech in the school?. What have you done to diagnose the slowness?. Where does the slowness exist?

Don't forget to master MDT as well. It's pretty much the biggest part of sccm, once you've learned it SCCM is how you apply it. With MDT you deploy images and programs, Once you've got that in place you combine it with SCCM to do super fancy stuff.

Roaming profiles? I'd nuke that first of all . Otherwise try reseting the preferences for Illustrator

Anyone know what faceplate I need for this?

In my experience that would warrant a new office or a stud wall being put in!. Best of luck finding something! -
Groups - a few hints 1. you can link to an ou if you want 2. You can use prefix's for groups . I use OU for ou linked groups, R for rooms (eg ict suite1), G for groups of rooms (eg all ict suites) and S for software. Also you can split things like desktop/laptop or communal use/one user machines. 3. Create a group for each piece of software, then put rooms into that group. Updates, yes. Use Sccm. If you install right click tools you can deploy updates from the console. If you get super clever you can make updates available in the software centre and allow staff to install updates at their convenience. I still do deployment mostly in MDT. You can import all the bits from mdt into SCCM quite easily. pro tip... SCCM is a beast. Don't go too big to early, it takes years and probably a few rebuilds before it's as slick as you would like.

Unless you want to convert programs to applications theres no need.

Have you imported the litetouchpe image into WDS so it can boot into MDT?. See add a boot image https://www.petri.com/deploy-windows-10-using-mdt-wds-part-2-install-wds-boot-pxe-client

Ofsted. Opps. I'm a rotter. Before you hand over lots of hard earned money for someone to come in an make generic statements that point to you spending money with them have you checked everything in house? . The needs and wants of the staff vs the costings provided by the dedicated support staff?. You may find that a consultant echo's all the above and takes all the money you would have spent on it away in his suitcase.

Same reason they keep Chewie going. It would be like killing off a puppy. -
Sounds like a users vs SLT issue. Get them to sit down and discuss.
