  1. why not execute the script overnight using psexec? . It'll allow you to run a script remotely.
  2. Allow teachers, Students get 20 mins a day unless they're in a communal area in which case they get none as they are an abusive bunch! Simple reason being we have a slow connection and we like to keep the riff raff out, youtube surfers are generally the types that pull the pc's apart. We like to encourage actual school work!
  3. Kids aren't allowed to soley own data untill their 13th birthday so no, unless a mechanism was put in place so that parents have access to the account but how that could ever work I haven't a clue.
  4. With extreme caution!!! There is a html file you need to change. It might be RDWeb/Pages/en-US/login.html . Back it all up before you even attmpt it though!
  5. I'd look at the courses in the MCITP:SA they'll be the most relevant and wil combine to give you a good standing. Free MCTS MCITP CCNA CompTIA and CISSP exams, study notes and forums is the american version of certforums, is worth an alternative glance
  6. You need to set up terminal services if you want thin clients to connect upto a single machine. google RDS or terminal services, bascially the same thing, RDS is the more recent name
  7. Thats a heck of a lot of data, prehaps more than one server would be better?. you could use dfrs to make it appear as one server
  8. A remoteapp program basically is a full session , We fit around 15 users on a server like that, the bottle neck would be the ram. 8 gig and you'd probably sit 25 ish users.
  9. Point it at the RDS server, I had problems getting my broker to work with webapp, its fine for logons but it gave me too much agro with webapp so i just pointed it to the one server
  10. Thanks John, Sussed it, just for random searches if anyone else is as thick as me, bt - rj11 dones't work, but a second webfilter using the adsl port does . So bt-bt-rj11-rj11 does!
  11. its relative. if you give a server a weighting of 1 and another 2, then 2 will have twice the number of sessions than 1. same goes for 49 and 98. with 35,35 and 30 you would have 7,7,6 sessions per server. if thats not helpful let me know and i'll give it another pop!
  12. If you only want moodle for file access then there is very very little personnel cost, you set it up which takes about a day, setup a course and link it to your shared network drives. There is no easy way of setting it to use individual home folders without an smb box though. the Ts question, Yes it does, but since webdav doesn't work past ie7 then the best way to access files is to logon on to the file server, so whatever you use will take up some resource.
  13. Moodle is mostly free, no initial payment and no subs or support costs. As for remote access look at microsoft terminal services, You cna use web access to create a webpage then give access to programs or give access to explorer.exe so they can have a window with their mapped drives and the local drives from their own pc.
  14. How to receive verbose startup, shutdown, logon, and logoff status messages verbose logging at logon, Find out where the delay is. Also try without antivirus, and look at disabling the user/computer parts of the gp if they're not used. That said 45 seconds ins't all that bad, and if its because you need lots of gp then maybe thats the best it can be!.
  15. You can combine the 2, Use Web access to present the webpage with custom rdp files and use gateway to secure the conenctions and allow access to inside of the router address's.
  16. Do they have the multi card readers? they sometimes reserve the drive letters
  17. how the heck did they even log on to send the email!!!.
  18. *little bump during a more reasonable hour!*
  19. Having problems wiring up a dialogic dmg1000 using a bt-rj11 cable it doesn't appear to recognise my phone connection... anyone know anything about this sort of thing?
  20. I think the most pertinent thing here is that you stand a very real chance of taking this company offline and destroying information if anything goes wrong. If you aren't 100% sure about what your doing then i'd advise not to do it. Get a company in or sort out the relationship, 30k is nothing compared to the company losing all of its data and not having a working network.
  21. if its a dc then it wont have a local admin account so using something like hiren wont work. I have have reservations about just transplanting from one piece of hardware to another, its very rarely the right thing to do. Is there a specific reason your doing it?
  22. Have a look at the disk access on your server using performance monitoring tools, I really think you need to be 100% that the array rebuilding isn't causing this, you've said that the processor and ram were normal which usually means your dog slow server has disk access problems which are likely caused by the rebuilding, you might find that the failing disk comes back to life for periods which would cause the sort of intermittent problems your seeing, espically on a dc.
  23. goodv work fella
