  1. I cannot get into Utility on boot dosk anyway. I will try some of htese suggestions after the holiday. Thanks for tips.
  2. No they are not bound to AD. Just stand alone Macs
  3. We have 6 iMac machines running Mac OSX 10.6 with multiple users in our Art Dept. Recently they have become very slow to log on to the user accounts set up on the machine - sometimes this takes 10 mins. I have inserted boot dosk and held down C key to boot from it but the process stops. I was hoping to run some Utils and clean up the machines or even re-install the OS. I have also used Sophos to check for viruses and is clean. Not sure what to do next.
  4. We have just configured some new laptops running Windows 7 SP1 and linked them through a normal ethernet connection to join our school Server 2008 R2 domain. They can log on to the domain with any user account. We have used them to connect wirelessly to the domain once someone has logged on with a wired connection and estblished their profile on the laptop. The problem arises when another user tries to log on to the domain through the wireless connection. It seems to time out and not log on or establish their profile. We had this problem with Windows XP laptops and I fixed that with an alteration to the registry, which altered the period that it took for the wireless logon to time out. It was set to 30 secs and we altered it to 120 secs using the instructions in the link below. Group Policy application fails on a computer that is running Windows 2000, Windows XP Service Pack 1, or Windows XP Service Pack 2 Group Policy application fails on a computer that is running Windows 2000, Windows XP Service Pack 1, or Windows XP Service Pack 2 Has anyone else had this issue with Win 7. Should I apply a similar fix or is it something else? Are there Group Policies for wireless connections?
  5. Think pad link you mention is blocked here. Can you give me a contact to get a demo of this tablet and od you know if it has proxy server settings on it to get internet in school
  6. Trying to join XP laptop to our domain and got the error below: Attempted to join domain but following error occured. "RPC protocol sequence is not supported" Not seen this one before - Help!
  7. OK, Found the file, thanks. I can see where to change the logo and messages. I will make sure to make a copy of the html file beefore I alter it!
  8. We have just setup a RDP gateway and Remote session server to access school for pupils and staff at home. How do I customise the Gateway homepage with school badge and instructions
  9. We have some MAC minis that have Bootcamp installed to dual boot on them. Most work fine but two have no sound when started up as a PC. They both play sound fine when booted up in Mac OS. I have been into Device Manager and the drivers are there and sound icon appears in System tray.
  10. We have some D-Link wireless network boxes and the first time you log on to AD via them the logon script times out before the user profile is created. To get round this we logon for the first time using a wired ethernet conection. After that it works OK because the profile is already there. We think it is timing out while waiting for server responce. Any ideas how we can create the profile wirelessly?
  11. Trying to delete or rename folders in the Contacts in MS Exchange lists but there does not seem to be a way of doing it. Anyone come across this
  12. The method we have works for all our other pcS ON THE NETWORK. rATHER NOT CHANGE THINGS.
  13. We have just bought some new Fujitsu PCs and set them up on our school network. There is a script that forces the IE homepage to go to our intranet homepage. New users are not getting this, they are being forced to get MSN homepage. Why is this and how can we make sure they get the correct homepage?
  14. Download and Install Realplayer 11 and this has an option to download the you tube video to your PC when you right click the video in youtube. You can then save it where ever you like or upload to your school vle
  15. We have an admin network set up in our ICT Office here at St Marys and it is unfiltered. We have set up with two cards in our PCs so we can get on our main school domain and the admin name to get around the filtering. Also we have out itcoord@ address as a recorded address with CLEO and LCC so that unblocking requests coming from this address are approved by Smart filter. All it took was a letter from our head teacher to get this sorted, so do not let them fob you off.
