  1. Always good to do 2 cameras at least so you can film the cameras being vandalised.
  2. https://docs.moodle.org/28/en/Workshop_module 2.8 !
  3. https://docs.moodle.org/19/en/Peer_Review_Assignment_Type might be the one?
  4. Problem is with this apathy, even if you catch whos doing it it sounds like nothing will done.
  5. I may well be behind the times on this ( yes , yes, noah , fire in pudding lane etc etc) . As faculty staff in schools you are entitled to major discounts on MS exams. If you change your profile to have the occupation of student ( I know, your not, but the MS guy told me to) then you can verify you are a member of staff ( I scanned by p60 and put an honest note explaining not student but staff) then MS will allocate you exams from the 72 -** range which are cheaper.
  6. It very much depends on what the server does, but if it breaks then yes it may well stop doing what you want it to do. The warranty will likely only cover the hardware components, if you have software issues then you will need another form of support.
  7. without IWB yes, without projectors no. Teaching has always had a focal point to the room, projectors with visualizers are still a very good and robust tool, used well they can be supplemented with collaboration software.
  8. EE are based at in Oxford, so might be able to help you. They usually offered a managed service which includes an engineer and a service level as well ( supported by other engineers) but you might be able to get a long term secondment or similar.
  9. Broadband speed and phone coverage are terrible reasons to move. Does broadband speed really improve life quality? ,does it not fluctuate from location to location over time anyway?.
  10. Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. The risk compared to the benefit doesn't justify letting a piece of software loose on a server. What benefits were you hoping to achieve?
  11. This is the one you want, ignore the branding, you can run the tool remotely or locally. http://blog.coretech.dk/kea/configuration-manager-shutdown-utility/
  12. An apprentice only works well if they time they take away from other staff they make up. In some cases its easier to go without than to have an apprentice that takes a disproportionate amount of time. I've had several over the years, some were a godsend who I could send to jobs then train by shouting across the office whilst I did actual work (was it plugged in? , google DNS, find me the toner code for a hp 1515..) others I've sent on wild goose chases just so I could get some work done and clear up messes they had made. I wouldn't think a 1:1 ratio would work.
  13. Apologies for the lazy post, looking for clarification really. We have a DVR setup on network 1. We need to access it from a computer in network 2. Easily done with a second nic I know, But is there a way to ensure all traffic goes though one nic ( bar the traffic directly to the DVR). Would removing the GW on nic 2 do it?
  14. The ability to say siddaaann and shutttuurrrppp. Other than that my only other skill is my ability to be here at times when teaching staff have already gone, leaving me doing bus duty and locking up.
  15. Odd, that would have been my guess as the apps will often use https connections. That's me out i'm afraid! Might be worth mentioning which filtering you are using and if you have agents on the computers.
  16. Do you have Https inspection turned on?
  17. We did similar, We locked the caretakers broom in a cupboard to stop him making mischief. Or have I misunderstood?
  18. emailed this to my classes this morning as both an example of useful tech and a decent use of ones talents to help others.
  19. Top notch in my experience.
  20. pretty much!. The sheath was damaged so every once in a while the cable got wet and sent corrupt signals to the box which in turn borked in different ways (EPG not available as it comes down cable2, box not booting, recordings disappearing, channels missing, slow booting) . I looked at the engineer with furrowed brow when he explained it to me but it transpires he was right!. I was convinced the HDD was on its way out.
  21. When it starts to play up check again, that's the nature of water and short circuits, works fine then boom!
  22. If its been playing up for ages without getting too much worse then I would look at whats causing it. I had similar issues when I had water on the cable. It would cause the sky box to receive naff signal and occasionally corrupt it so only a reset would fix it. Do you have dual input or single input into it? . Worth checking the signal is the same across the two inputs.
  23. I phoned up and they told me it was £60 for an engineer visit or I could buy 6 months insurance for £60. Careful phoneing them though, that can cost a fortune!
  24. and freesat from sky!, which is a slight variation on freesat. Big difference between freesat and freeview is the ariel/statalight dish .
