Hi Guys - beginner at Sharepoint. I had Sharepoint Services 3 Installed and am going to use it for a pupil and staff intranet. What I want to know is is is possible for a Site to access information within one of it's own Subsites. EG if i have the follwing layouts: Main Site (Pupil entry Point) ---> Staff Subsite (Staff entry point) -------> ICT Helpdesk Subsite (ICT Support Staff Entry Point using the ICT Helpdesk Template) What I want to know is if I have lots of lists from the ICT Helpdesk Template (E.g Rooms, Categories, Issues) Can the Staff Subsite see and add to these lists. What I want to do is display the member of staffs ICT help desk issues on the Main Staff Subsite entry point. As standard sharepoint does not seem to be able to access data in a sub site? Hope you understand what I mean! Butuz

So your school is purposefully hindering your Staff's C.P.D. for fear of losing them? Are they on temporary contracts or are they permanent? Butuz

Sounds like a switch issue to me. Or it could be some kind pf power saving affecting the NICs on the PC's? Turn the power saving off? Butuz

Setting up ESXi on a Proliant ML-110
Butuz replied to Gibbo's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Based on the ML115 - ESX can not boof from the internal hard drive controller. The fix on the ML115 was to actually install ESX on to memory stick, and then once it was installed and booted on the memory stick ESX could see the whatever hard drive configuration you created and you could use it to store VMs. Butuz -
Wow what a transformation!!! Very nice!! Jealous!!! Butuz

This is great work - downloaded it and will give it a go next week! Butuz

This is the one to go for - the ML115's are great little quad core VMware test boxes. Butuz

Exploding is bad [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJCZ4ayioCU]YouTube - Lithium Ion battery fire[/ame] Butuz
-
Any device containing lithim polymer / lithium ion can be a fire hazard if the battery is mistreated (by mistreated I mean, undercharged, overcharged, unbalanced, or left in strong sunlight). Yes thats right, your (new) laptop, phone, PDA, etc all contain potentially explosive batteries. Perhaps the iPod chassis transmits more heat into the battery than other devices - either way you should not leave any of these devices unnatended in strong direct sunlight and I am willing to wager it says so in the manual too. [ms office - 2003] Excel - Counting Grades (alphabetic)?
Butuz replied to Butuz's topic in Office Software
Thanks Excel gurus!!!! The countif works an absolout treat! Beer at the next educonference for you two! Cheers Butuz -
Hi - does anyone have any experience with using Excel to count letters in excel? Eg I have an excel file with many grades in it, the grades are letters rather than numbers, so A, B, C, etc. We are looking for a way to count the number of A's, B's, C's etc across the whole spreadheet. I am weak at excel and can do basic number forumas but am stumbed by counting Text. Cheers Butuz

To be honest I think you'll find the Axel unit to be far easier to configure and far easier "in use". Butuz

This is what I have always said - if they gave us the 1.5 to 2 million per school, we would transform ICT in Education too - only we would make a much better job as we would actually implement what each individual school required, and we wouldn't all be wasting Millions on Consultancy, politics and Legal rubbish - we would actually put the money straight into the classrooms!!!
