is this just me .. but i cant get the damn thing to work properly. Have installed it with wamp installed the clients i make a quick test layout and save and it works ok . I change this layout or try and apply a new one and it doesnt do nothing ?
-
Decided just to fix this with NTFSFixv1.1 Brill Program with a noobie GUI for me
-
Just upgraded to the newest Version of this brilliant Program , So thank you Nick. Having a little problem with the layout , have edited it a bit to get everything lined up properly . But still seem to have this problem in IE . When ever i Hover over a Drive it shifts all the others away ? normally to the right http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/4972/erroryh.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us

i had the same dilema .. it was green but had been topping up with blue . My OAT stuff was well past the date it should have been changed . In the end as the car was going into the garage for a service i paid them to do a flush and replace with some demon tweaks for life antifreeze , it also changes colour if your car gets HGF .
-
try and not mix colours , Mixing Green and Either red or blue can sometimes cause skank in the headertank ( which resembles HGF)

i did have a vbscript once that would copy a host file a login .. seemed to work for domain users ? so unsure why yours didnt above

I didnt touch top level , i done each folder seperartly e.g. year 11 , year 8 etc What i did was used setacl to take control of say the year11 folder ( all the users inside it ) it took control with the admin account added staff to the security the readded the owners name to the security group . So each folder has the correct user added to the security Group but me now as a admin can view it . I was just curious as to if i was to remove the staff group from all the staff folders ( but it still has the owners username in the security field ) will they still be able to acces there work ? just stop other people snooping in !

I know this is a bit of a normal thing on here but wonderd if any one can help ? Our structure is as follows Share on Server Under the share is the following folders year11 year10 year9 year8 year7 Staff The folders orignally had ownership on them . But i removed this but kept there usernames in security using SetACL.exe. Staff have permisions to read all folders. Is it possible to stop staff browsing other staff accounts via the UNC path with this setup... ?

Print Management per-computer GPO delivery

I use loopback and Logon for printers .. What type of profiles are you using ? I use the following script which works good .. have a try of that and see if it fixes your problem ? its a logon script btw .. If it does not work like this , try adding every printer you have into the remove old printers section . -
heres a good one teacher sits down inbetween 2 machines and loads up hes laptop starts doing work teacher : my laptop isnt working and its frozen , i havent saved my work that i have been doing for the last hour tech : ill have a look , moves mouse PAD on laptop ...looks fine to me teacher: Teacher sits down holds the external mouse from the pc next to him trys and moves it . Sorry its still doing it ! Must say i have done it a few times with my servers .. But its quite funny

The 50% educational discount pushed me towards Nod32 by eset direct for 260 machines is was around £1500 per year ( also its cheaper if you do 3 years ) A lot faster and less resource hungry than mcafee and sophos . There console was a bit of a pain to setup at first , but once working its perfect !.. and its 100% better than mcafee's sophos's console is a little bit better

they will charge you a bomb ! why not set up a test rig and give it a go your self ? before you call in a company
-
you may also find if your not removing the drives at logoff this can also happen , so i always remove the drives at logoff as well as our teachers use local profiles .
-
Heres a quick map drive script i use . A nice simple one quite a easy one to use . give that a try maybe ? we use sims and i have never had this problem !

Any one else done the same as me and bought a new server and added a raid card and SATA HDD's ? I would also be intrested in buying a pre built if it was cheap enough any one got an recomendations of parts and sites ?
-

ok atm our current server is a DC/AD/WSUS/Exchange/Printers and files ! I have 1 server which does antivirus , Home access plus ( IIS) and stores internal apps for network usage Another server which does just web services such as the VLE and Website ( apache) Looking to move probally at minimum the file and printers to a new server ( maybe also wsus) Im looking for some decent spec enterprise SATA disks ? (ON raid 5 im looking at a minimum of 1tb combined space ) and a card that can do raid 5 ? or is raid 10 recomended for a file server ? SAS is really out of question as there too expensive. Would would every 1s recomendations be ?? I have a spare server which is ok for this ! so just need the additonal hardware

all our pc's came with XP Prof OEM licences Would cost us a bundle to upgrade to 7 ! we are on MS open licence agreement for everything else so that wouldnt be a problem .. XP works fine for us and i only reimaged in the summer . Is 7 supported in Acronis yet ? if i was to go 7 i would upgrade everything 2003>2008 server also office etc .. Would take me yonks lol !

Has any one else recently noticed some of there computers needing reactivating ? not sure if it is a new update maybe ? Mine are all OEM .. None indicate they require activating and are actually working fine . Only reason i noticed because i wanted to go into safe mode and it said it required activating .. so i run the activation program and it did require it ! there is no baloon messages stating i require activation ?
-
do they hold the laptop with the lid open all the way to the staffroom ? i would set the lid to shutdown when closed.. otherwise some staff training showing them howto do it properly with a video on the VLE so they cant bother you any more laptops are a big pain in the arse tbh ..i say get rid of all of them ! would make my life a tad easier. Teejay idealy you need some gs locators in the laptops .. actually scratch that and just make the teachers use notepad and paper and stop making it to easy for them 2 print .. its part of the enjoyment them sending 100's of pages to printers across the school
-
think the best way to do that would be a script at logon . When they logon it asks them to click what room they are in and add the printers that way ?
