Hi, Just wondering if anyone else uses netop school 6 with windows 7. We are currently experiencing difficulties with netop school picking up all the users in a particular class. Example: Users log in 23 computers and Netop only sees 18. Next lesson users log in netop picks 20 out of 23 computers and different ones are missing. (doesn't seem to be related to which PC's the users log into or indeed which users log in) Any thoughts??

and oh yes staff definitely remember files they had 5 years ago... including powering up an old vm of cmis. p.s. we are a little over kill on the old backups but better to be safe than sorry.

We do indeed have a disaster recovery plan. Thankfully we have never had to use it. But I would say including ordering new hardware up within 2 days. Or several hours if all servers haven't been burnt to a crisp.

full backups daily monday to friday (on all storage) - overwritten each week incremental backup of all other servers - overwritten each week full backup weekly (all server) - overwritten every month week1 week2 etc full monthly (all servers) - over written every year january, feb etc full yearly (all servers) - kept for a minimum of 5 years.

this isnt the first post about this. and i might add we have a camera in the boys toilets pointing at the washing up area as well. however we consulted the school council and got the pupils involved.

ye its designed so the students can all see the teacher... well that's what the designer said... however what about the students completely facing the wrong way.... also the colour in my opinion is awful but the students seem to like the room.

can you take a screen shot of what you see under server configuration hub transport.

Its all well and good saying energy saving on the desktops. however what about the power consumption of the heavy servers running the thin clients.

Indeed there are 3 other members to our team. We manage 5 of our feeder primary schools as well. Our servers range from linux to windows 2003 - 2008R2. We have central monitoring software that runs statistics of running processes/log files. However other than that log into them and check there working ok. program is called "whats up gold". however there are open source versions that do the same job.

the case can fit sas in. but the actual board itself does not support sas. plus for such a low spec machine the benefits of sas wouldnt be shown.

1 single 48port is far more efficient than 2 24 ports. not really any pros or cons. 1 48 port will be more expensive but if you go for 2 24s its the uplink between the 2 that will be the limiting factor.

you can do it and I have done it. would only recommend doing this if you are sure that the ups's are fed from the same ring main.

can you not run them from the same database?

How about making yourself a cheep nas solutions usign (open source, openfiler) then either using ntbackup or acronis to clone / incremental / differential your backups as required. we do a nightly full backup about 600GB of data. Wonderful to restore from and very reliable.
