  1. i have an email from them stating there Creative Archive Licence which clearly states. "non-exclusive licence within the United Kingdom for the duration of copyright in the Work to copy and/or Share the Work and/or create, copy and/or Share Derivative Works on any platform in any media." p.s. this is direcly above when you click to download a video therefore i have always been alowed to do this. not directly to me
  2. This copyright policy is to do with the website. There is another copyright policy to do with the videos. and i am fully allowed to publish the material on Education Tube.
  3. not taken videos down. (well left the initial images. but stoped videos working from teacher tv).. hopfully they will respond soon.
  4. This is exactly what i have done. And i have a very nice email stating that its got to be approved from a higher place but shouldn’t be a problem. We shall wait and see.
  5. Ok i appreciate you picking me up on these matters.. However how am i meant to get enough content to make people interested without "breaching copywriter". Regarding teacher tv. I state the source of the video and it’s used in an educational way. I am aware this will not stand up. In your opinion what can be done? At the bottom of the terms there is a method of reporting copyright. what would you like me to do to resolve these...
  6. ok i have thanked.. make millions.. Hardly will cost a bob or too to keep going.. it merely solves a problem we have within our school and hopefully other people can find it useful. p.s. come and join the site…. Thanks again... becuase of legal issues its educationtube.co.uk but the other domains work too ;-)
  7. I still belive 4 hours is plenty to build a new domain server. Regarding Moving Data you may be right however surely if you set everything up surely you can copy data last.... also if you are going to the same os and you are happy with your current server setup have you considered purchasing acronis true image (with universal restore) and simply clone your old server to the new server.
  8. full rebuild put the disc in and install xp!! and all software. as we use an incredible amount of adobe packages office etc etc etc the image is 45gb so the initial creation of the image (by that i dont mean taking the image) does take about 4-5 hours!
  9. We use a custom built asterisk box. For the physical PBX. The phones range from pda's with voip software. We also have several Aastra 312 Wireless Phone Very expensive but incredibly reliable. We have several other standard wifi phones what for the life of me cannot remember the model. However these are not so good. we have started rolling out poe phones as some of the cheaper phones either run out of battery far too quickly or drop the wireless connection. If you are considering wifi voip you need a lot of heavy investment to make it practical. I would personally from our experience use standard voip. staff hopfully dont notice a difference. if anything its easier. someone moves room we just log them off and back on to a different handset. staff to have a problem remembering to charge them..
  10. -Setup a new domain on a new server, building all new GPO's from scratch - 4 Hours if you know what you are doing-Migrate existing system, including all users from 2 seperate domains to the new domain -recommission the old server(s) as member servers for the purpose of running Print server, AV server etc - would recommend a totall rebuild of old server 3 hours -rebuild the existing curriculum network pc's, approximately 50-60 of them to the new domain (rebuild required as not done in a while, as well as being based on winsuite currently) - rebuild one 2 hours install all software and image the rest. however long takes to iamge usually 20 mins per machine
  11. yes. however. the wifi points we use are on a totally seperate vlan to the rest of the network.
  12. Having said that you are telling me no one downloads you tube videos??? if you would like a nice little tool that gives you the direct flv link try http://www.educationtube.co.uk/addons/videograbber/grabber.php In answer to the post above i was hoping that my solution would provide more of a community based solution rather than relying on smooth wall boxes.
  13. yes us ;-). Called MailScanner. A box dedicated to filtering spam and antivirus. However i would still recommend Latest puremessage. Microsoft ForFront Server is pritty nice aswell.
  14. we had a planned role out of vista the summer just gone. as it took me over a year and was still not satisfied vista worked properly in our enviroment we roled out windows 7 as it seemed to work perfectly with my new vista policys.
  15. website link? as cant find it googling institute of it training. We would hope to cover everyone. Obviously dont take my word for this as i dont know the state the company has been left in.. ( as i cant contact anyone)
  16. anyone know any contact information to speak to someone. we have been trying to contact them regarding taking them over. as we offer training courses. but cant get through to anyone
  17. Well i said in my post above we use stone. However we as a college actually provide ict support to other schools even though we ourselves buy and would 1000% recommend stone computers. No questions asked 4 years on site warranty. The machines are incredibly reliable as well. Last 2 years only had 2 machines break out of 500!!!
  18. we use stone computers.
  19. Is it worth checking that your ip isnt listed in some blacklist and therefore your emails are actually being deleted?
  20. I appreciate everyone’s feedback. However i am still pressing my idea. I agree with people that using YouTube might be wrong so here we have Educational Tube or Educational Tube Unlimited storage for everyone who signs up. Therefore having free and unlimited store for private and public content. I am working on adding filtering features and enabling you to directly upload videos from youtube etc etc.
  21. I am suggesting either a paid or verified account process. So that teachers alone can have unfettered access and have the ability to add YouTube content to that particular schools access list. Therefore only videos added by teachers can be access. Comments: either totally get rid or have individual comments so only within school. (therefore be up to the school to moderate) Guessing you guys don’t think it’s a good idea.
  22. Really on what grounds? So if I registered advanceditservices.com someone else “couldn’t” (shouldn’t) buy educationadvanceditservices…
  23. I know this is not entirely to do with the topic but….. There was a suggestion further up the page that youtube should create a sister page for education. Well here it is.. (I liked the idea so much and thought it could really be beneficial to my school / all of our feeders) Educational Videos Educational Videos Educational Videos Currently it’s just running as a youtube site. However my view is to take it to the stage where you can either submit youtube links and it converts them to be played from this site or having a “teacher login” that works as a proxy for youtube to unblock content for your school. Obivously not every school would want the same content unblocking so I would have to have some form of login for every school… Any ideas would be apreciated. If anyone wants to help me on this project it would be much appreciated.
  24. OMG that is an amazing idea!!!! I have registered eduyoutube, educationyoutube, educateyoutube I am going to build this site. The schools could sign up to it having a standard filter or even having the ability to unblock content from youtube itself. Obviously this needs to be free service and I am quite willing to provide it as we have no end of hassle with unblocking and blocking content from youtube so if staff could do this themselves. any thoughts???
  25. we have just had some student that required this. I created them a new shared drive with individual names in so: for example mandy would have media.george.........sch.uk/mandy then tom would have media.george....sch.uk/tom but the requirments ment it had to be live.
