Currently we've got an SLA with the LEA covering our switches (All procurves) - fault finding/config/warranties etc but its very expensive for what we get. Network config etc is bit beyond me (yup, really to need to plug that knowledge gap) so looking for a company to support us with them. Anybody got any good companies they've used. We're based in Staffordshire? Cheers

ha, just had this delivered out of the blue. Respect, pretty funny! The keyring has a recorded message with "have you tried turning it off an on again".... So my IT tech is no longer needed. Anybody else get one?

We did the same last week, and the support from Innovative Technology was brilliant, they couldn't believe how much they wanted to charge us (not cunningham but ami education). He also says you can send the loader to them and for £10 they'll recode it for you if that's easier for you (wasn't for us as needed the device up and running asap) However, could time them for during half terms/holidays etc. But tbh once you've got the cable and follow the instructions it wasn't too bad - although I did need a couple tips from Innovative Technology to get it going fully and as abillybob says you've got it ready for new notes etc.

So reboot didn't work, mainly because I'd not been directing traffic to the smoothwall (gateway was still set to the old router! durr!) and had a rogue port in the port group so it was redirecting to the wrong port. Just got to get the MX relay bit working, but I think that's just RM needing to allow us on the new IP and happy days! phew! Thanks

Morning, Hope somebody can help, we had our smoothwall installed last week and also changing ISP. We've got new external IP Range, so having to changing the new IPs to forward to our Remote Desktop Server but can't get it to work. Smoothwall have remoted and said traffic is getting through the smoothwall to the server but not getting any response. The server is up, working fine internally and was fine on the old IP this morning. The RDS server's firewall is off, so that shouldn't be stopping anything. Is there something stupid I'm missing out. Anything I need to change since changing the IP? Want to get this working before shifting our Exchange & Frog to the new IPs. If I go to the page in the browser, I get a blank white page with a smoothwall favicon but nothing else. Adding /rdweb etc I get Apache server page not found response (I assume the Smoothie?) Any clue/tips/tests anybody could throw my way would be appreciated. Cheers

Long shot & probably a very cheeky request but we've got a licence for Deepfreeze Enterprise v7.5 but we don't have the installation file and no other installation media. The download link on the licence is out of date and Faronics won't help unless I renew our support contract. However, we only need it for 4 computers so they can do a reassemble a PC, boot up and install some software and few other tests. I know we can do the software aspect in a Virtual machine, but we'd like them to run some benchmark software with 1gb then install extra ram and show the results. Thought it'd be a simple task using deepfreeze if only I had the install file!! Does anyone out there have a copy? As we'll put our licence code in so I assume it's effectively just trial software until this point and not infringing any licencing issues by asking?? Huge thanks!!

We had Ricoh direct for 5 years, no issues or problems at all Great service etc. However, when renewing this year we actually ended with a better deal going through ITech Group ended up with a better copy per page charge rate and much newer Ricoh machines (Ricoh direct 35ppm, itech supplied 55ppm ones). And fully integrated Papercut to all the devices with our existing Mifare cards. They can also link the scanners direct into SIMS, Frog, Email or shared drives. Support so far been great.

Thanks, will try do something in Impero, see if that helps. But ultimately it just needs SLT managing manually rather than convoluted methods like this. Cheers all though

Yup completely agree @bobsmith - I've tried to say that but SLT want a technical way of forcing them, or having proof with the reports to show when they saved the register. So having a look into it, but personally the way you've described seems the most sensible route, but they don't want that route.... ahh well!

That's what we're currently doing, but doesn't seem to be enough it seems!

I highly doubt this is possible, is there a way we can run a report on if and when a teacher has or hasn't completed the register. I'm guessing this sort of thing isn't logged within SIMS at all. Were having issues where it's not been completed, so a reminder is sent. But then the teacher complaining that they had completed it. (More than likely they'd filled it in and not clicked save) Also, anybody else got ways of reminding staff to complete the register (the sims inbuilt messages don't seem to be good enough). SLT are thinking of giving office staff Impero so they can post full screen reminders and lock all applications except SIMS until it's completed. Cheers

Just a hope for some advice, we've got 2 separate email domains, a .sch.uk one (Exchange Staff Email) and a .co.uk one (Staff & Student Google Accounts). Which are separate from each other. However, now that Google Classroom is starting to take off quite a bit in the school we could do with the two email accounts linking so the teachers can get both emails in the one mailbox (Currently Outlook which is the preference). Am I right in thinking I've got a couple options, Move all Exchange email to Gmail Forward Gmail to Exchange (Is it possible to add Gmail as an extra inbox in Outlook globally in Exchange or is this something each user would have to do?) Suppose the advantage of moving the email to cloud is local server/backup/access etc all easier my way. Disadvantage, not having the comfort of what their used to using Outlook? Any tips from anybody who's done this already? Cheers in advance!

We copied the Hex across and then disconnected from the PC and plugged in a Phone Microusb powerbank charger thing. It's now a mobile Microbit! Impressed how easy they are and no software etc needs deploying, literally plug code & play.

Morning, Just a quick questions, were in the process changing our Broadband supplier and deciding whether to go 100/100 or 100/1GB for the next 3 years. Currently, according to the LEA we're using 20-30% of our current 100mb connection at peak times so part of me thinks we've already got capacity to grow, but 3years of growth? We're currently 1100 Students & Staff, 500 odd devices and 6th Form are starting to use Chromebooks through a leasing scheme. Just wondering what other schools are using/coping with? Cheers

We have Eclipse, it just about does what we want but very annoying it's silverlight based so doesn't work in Chrome or Chromebooks/ipads etc etc However, they did tell me at BETT that a HTML5 version being released for Sept. We did look at moving because we've grown frustrated with it linking into our VLE Frog, which they've sorted with FrogOS, which runs better in Chrome so users then have to close Chrome and reload in IE if they want to use the library system. Very annoying. Looked at Oliver/Heritage and found we could justify the cost to switch at the moment.

Morning, Just wondering who on here is Staffs and using Entrust (Capita)/Staff LEA for their broadband at the moment? Anybody know for definite what's happening come April? If so, what are you planning - staying with them or moving to another supplier? They've not sent any official quotes/renewal/information about what is being offered, well not to me any way. I've had information over the phone of prices but things like SMTP connectors and SAP issues still worry me. Cheers Gareth
